The justification I got on another forum that used a similar method was in case someone wanted to troll/just in general be an A-hole, they couldn't keep swapping names to leave everyone guessing.
That, and it would be a pain in the *** to be debating with someone and all the sudden .slarg232 starts talking smack while slarg232 is having a nice discussion with someone
