Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
I mostly want it for roleplaying and also to suggest that I am a friendly invader/trader/giftwraither. I concluded from the forum that most people want it to be a gesture and then keep your weapon sheathed until you use the gesture again or press the attack button, I think it would be so awesome in almost all games.

The lack of the ability to sheath your weapons, whilst having sheaths for said weapons in the game has always confused me.

Another reason that it was introduced is so that people could talk to merchants without worrying about accidentally wacking them across the head and screwing up their game.

I LOVE the idea of sheathing, but I do not know for the life of me why you guys think it is a good idea to have the command for it in the gestures menu.... ?
It would be frustrating to have that command in a menu, I would suggest a regular input on your controller as opposed to having to navigate a menu, perhaps double tapping or holding X....it could be 2 buttons at the same time, like R2 and X....I don't know, those are just some examples from the top of my head, it would just seem strange to me to have to navigate a menu to have your character make a what could be a fairly often used action.

i love the idea but it they way you should unsheath it would be to press two buttons at the same time like tofu said, having it in the gesture menu would REALLY suck.

I guess most do not want it on the gesture menu, that does make since and the two button thing sounds good just not a button combination with R1/R2 in it because you might mess up and attack someone

Was LS/L3 used for anything?
It could go there.

that is a good idea, L3 didn't do anything at all but for people who get adrenaline rush while playing may press the L stick too hard and then it would cause them to Sheath their weapon when they don't want to so that could create problems so make it something that is hard to accidentally do it so people wouldn't rage like "OMG THIS STUPID MOFO L3 BUTTON MADE ME SHEATH MY WEAPON AND GOT ME KILLED BY SOME NOOB BACKSTABBER WTF!!!!!! THEY NEED TO PATCH IT!!" (wambulance alert call 910)

Holding x for say, a few seconds would be fine for this, is be up for it, though the more pressing question in relation to the horror stories of people killing npcs is why does attack even work still while in a menu?

It just ties into the whole not being able to pause feature of the souls series I guess....to increase the HARDCORE! Helps with the immersion lawl

If that's really true, then it fails because it turns out to be more of an annoyance.

Re: Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
it being a gesture is out of the way of normal controls and isn't that hard to access just press select and then A or X you could set it to the on that's already highlighted when the gesture menu is opened so its litterealy two buttons pressed.

Re: Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
I think it should be a gesture, it would be out of the way, but still easily accessible. I like the idea of keeping your weapon sheathed until you either use the gesture again or use the attack button.
It would certainly add a certain flair to dueling wouldn't it. Have both combatants get close together, bow, and then unsheathe their weapons. *** Epic.

It would add so many style points. Like, "sup man, I'm so cool, I'm gonna beat you with my weapon sheated" It's not the same "oh look a crazy man without any weapons."

Re: Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
Why not make it simple guys? HOLD TRIANGLE for a while, BAM! Weapon's Sheathed.
Also, WEAPON SLOTS! Being able to see this guy has a sheild, bow, and his current weapons would be great and look awesome if done correctly. Anyone agree??

Re: Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
I guess holding triangle does sound good since all it does is two hand and nothing else, honestly they need to look at this poll and realise they MUST add sheathing you weapon into DkS II, i dun care if it makes it 1 week to a month to add it, because then you would have 5months+ of you being a really f*cking bad*ss mofo. I love roleplaying so i really need it
and to signal that you are not hostile when you invade and you want a duel. (i have finally realised that honor code is bullsh*t because it just takes away some useful mechanics like healing, if you can't heal then who's fault is that)[but BS fishing and chain stabbing is dishonorable]) sorry for the off topic moment

Re: Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
Absolutely YES! I don't even care about the command, I just want the cool factor. I don't use greatswords much, but I'll sometimes equip a Bastard Sword for the Gargoyles just because it looks so cool strapped across my back in the cut scene (as long as I don't forget to unequip my shield).

Re: Sheathing weapons in Dark Souls II
Un-equip your shield!?
Try using a Kite shield(Silver Knight, black Knight, Knight, etc.) and an ultra great sword(Like Zweihander) together during those scenes.
Looks f--king orgasmic(IMO,OC)!!

I like the original gesture idea for this. I mean, why not? I would actually prefer this over buttons as it won't need the function of any other buttons or the "accidentaly sheat" happening

So... No one wants Visable Item slots??
I mean, seeing my Greatsword and shield on my back while I shoot my bow would be amazing!
