I ask because I heard recently that the damage multiplier you get from the 2H R2 attacks also increases buff damage. Does it? If so, I might start using the DKGA.

Actually, now I think about it, if the damage multiplier does affect buffs, that might make the obsidian greatsword kinda OP considering its stat requirements.

Yes, the damage from the buff is added to the special attack. And the dragon weapons can be quite good, not the best though.

Good, looks like i'll have to stock up on repair powder happy

I should add, this is only for PvE, I only want to see how much damage I can do in a single hit.

I feel they really ought to lower the stat requirements though, they should've made it 40 str for the DKGA and DGS, 50 is too high.

Dragon weapons are pretty good for the first few playthroughs. For level 100 - 120 PvP, I'd like to give Obsidian a try.

Honestly I wish they looked better. If my STR is absurdly high I'm going to end up using DGM because I think it looks so cool DKGS can't compare, it looks like I'm just swinging around a big old rock (which I guess I kinda am considering the dragons were covered in stone)

I also wish I could figure out a co-op build for a dragon weapon. Like can't stay in any decent level range, unless you slow walk or have no vit.

Just go low vit. In PvE it's not that big of a deal, especially if you can use greatshields. I have a guy with 50 str running havel's greatshield/most of havel's set in the low 60's...basically all STR and rest END. Helping people with O&S like that is actually easy; you can block basically everything and even the big butt-slam attack is pathetic chip damage. Then when you get any opening at all just slam that DKGA, Zweihander, or Great Club into them for massive damage and block again.

It's harder vs invaders but you can always go for dead-angles unlocked with crap like the Zwei since a LOT of people are going to fish or try to roll BS vs greatshields.

You'd probably need to get more END and VIT for pvp and it turns into a more standard str build at those levels, but for PvE the VIT isn't that big of a deal especially if you carry any heal spells at all (like 1 point in faith + thor tali and just use your slot on 3x heal if you're a white phantom).

It all depends on the Dragon Weapon. The OGS is good, the DGS is good, the MLGS is really good, but the axe really doesn't do enough damage for a greataxe, the Drake Sword is unviably weak, etc.

i like to start with 34 STR and 10 DEX when i go down the dragon path. at a fairly low level (mid 40s) you can be two-handing the Dragon Great Sword and it wrecks almost everyone in PVP and the added defense it lends you is icing.

You all seem to be missing the point of this thread, I was just asking if the damage multiplier from the 2H R2 attack also affected buff damage. Now we've established that it does.

Also Ghadis, the DGKA only does 15 less damage than the DGS, except its also buffable and its 2H R2 is an aoe attack. Those facts (especially the first one) make it way better IMO.
