Old Games that still hold up Empty Old Games that still hold up

Post by BIG TIME MASTER Fri Nov 23, 2012 6:00 am

I'm just about finished with DKS as I am finding it hard to find new reasons to play. I can't find any decent new games out now so I have become interested in returning to some "classics" to see if they still hold up.

Recently I downloaded the original Ghost Recon on computer and it is still a blast to play. I remember being pretty good at it before but I have been getting killed dead like a noob.

I've heard the original Halo remastered edition still plays good, but I don't think I can play that anymore (too much LAN parties in highschool).

Anybody know some good old RPG's on either xbox or pc that are still worth playing?

Xbox or PC? I think you're out of luck silly
Unfortunately I can only suggest PS games unless you can find some of the original FFs emulated or on xbox/PC.

Titan Quest is the only older RPG I can think of that I really enjoyed on PC.

I'm enjoying Ghost Recon on PC in doses here and there. I don't remember it being so difficult, but it sure ain't easy on elite difficulty. Beating the missions isn't too hard, but doing it without losing men is.

I've been getting strongly into Civilization V. It gets pretty addicting. Just one more turn...

I'll check out Titan Quest as well.

I played it when it was new. Never got into the sequels though. It was fun, mainly because you could fart.

I agree with you there, I felt that the original was way better than the sequels.. i guess it was a purer idea back then, kinda like any series that gets ruined by trying to get an even bigger fan base.

Cool thing about these old games is I can get em on steam for $10. I got GR with all the expansions for $10 and am downloading Titan Quest now with and expansion for the same price. Civ V was only $20 with a couple DLC's.

Hey, if you get far into Titan Quest (With the expansion), I can show you some great mods and we could play online together sometime if you want big grin

Great. I was reading some reviews and I think I am going to be enjoying this one. I'm really into the ancient world history, especially Greece. I'll let you know in a few days what I think.

Thanks for the suggestions Gentlemen/women! I think I am going to be pretty busy with Civ5 for a while, and I got GR on the side to get that shooter fix. Funny, most gamers are chugging away at the latest COD or Halo and I'm going back to the first GR!

I am downloading Titan Quest now, and if I like it, which I think I'm going to, it will probably push Civ5 to second place for awhile. Civ5 is addictive, but strategery type games aren't my usual thing. Multitasking ain't my style!

Late entry 'Oddworld-Stranger's Wrath' on XBox. Great game, overlooked by many.

Fable: TLC is still a great game. I would play it pretty much every day if it weren't for the fact that my classic xbox sucks and old xbox games aren't exactly made for 360, although they work. You should give the game a try though, if you haven't. It's a great game and a must play in my opinion. Otherwise there's always Age of Mythology, although that game may be a RTS it is still a great game to play. And although it could be considered childish, the Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 games are some great games that i advice playing as well, if you don't mind the childish atmosphere. There's TES: Oblivion as well as Morrowind. I haven't played Morrowind, although i've heard good things about it. I'll assume you've played them though. Fallout 2 is a great game as well if you don't mind the graphics.

Sorry for the fact that not all of them were RPGS as well as the big wall of text, but i hope those were some good examples that somehow actually interested you.

Edit: Oh, and Oddworld like Slake said. Definitely recommend that one.

I was thinking about old games today and felt a need to mention these awesome titles...

    Earthbound.

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja.

    TMNT: Turtles in Time.

    Love Oddworld, slake. happy

And I know I'll probably get hate for this, but Ocarina of Time is still most deserving of a spot on the list IMHO.

Majora's Mask is way more deserving of a spot on said list. In my humble opinion. >:3

The weird time manipulation in Majora's Mask always felt strange to me. I felt like it was easier getting into OoT because of that.
