Does anybody else remember this great Ps2 game? Does anyone even think it's good?

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
There are a lot of people here who remember it, most of them praise it as well.
Personally, i've never played it, so i can't comment on it.

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
Such a masterpiece of a game, and I never finished it. T.T
This was a game that really defined "using your head," what with finding the opponent's weakness, managing your stamina, and using the environment to help you defeat the Colossi. Not your average adventure game, to say the least. I wish I could play it again, but sadly, I own no PS2 anymore....

(cough)
you can download it from psn or buy it in a collection with ICO

I think you'll find that A LOT of the dark souls fanbase seems to also have a special place in their heart for Shadow of the Colossus, I know I've seen it come up again and again. It's up there in my top 10, a masterpiece and a must play for those who missed out.

Having access to both, although using my Xbox much more does give a wider range of good games to find, especially on PSN.Elite Knight wrote:Yukon wrote:(cough)

One of the greatest games ever created.
I remember taking an embarrassingly long time figuring out how to beat the Colossus in the lake. Not the serpent one, but the one with the bongos on his head.

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
The only games that I held as my #1 favorite game next to Dark Souls. I still have the original ps2 and still play from time to time. So many secrets still to find, and I'm still finding new places in it. I love the last boss though I always get a weird feeling after killing it. Anyone else get a weird feeling after killing the bosses?

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
That was one of the things that made it so great. Wander murders 16 seemingly innocent colossi for very selfish reasons. It evoked emotions that, up until that point, no game has ever really touched on. Very powerful stuff.

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
In Wander's defense he did what he did for the girl who meant quite a lot to him to try the taboo of nearly every moral, ethic, and religous belief. To me that's true devotion.

See what happens when you devote yourself to a lady?
There's probably a psychological essay somewhere in there.
- Spoiler:
- You slaughter innocent beings and get turned into a big, ugly shadow demon and then into a baby.

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
Well I don't think any of us expected that to be Dormin's price for that and if Eamon had not made it before we killed the last boss, the situation would not have ended like that. Here is something I always been trying to solve:
- Spoiler:
- After lord Eamon threw the sword in the well Dormin reverts into a shadow Wander that we control. Does that mean that Wander's will and his goal to revive the girl overpower Dormin's power making Wander the one in control and not Dormin? Was it because Wander tried to stay intact long enough for the girl to awake or was this bound to happen after he "died"?

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
I liked SotC, but after beating it I traded it in; it was a puzzle game when it came to the bosses, and it just wouldn't stick around with me for very long. There are the odd times where I regret it, but I got my monies worth out of it.
My favorite had to be the sand worm, that chased you while you were on horseback.

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
One of the most beautiful and moving games I've ever played.
Everyone should try it out, it can get pretty challenging too, and rewards are hard to get.

Re: Shadow Of The Colossus
I loved it up till the point where ........ sorry I can't tell you that because it would spoil it for those who've never played it but after it happened I lost the will to finish it. I did try though but that last boss was such a pain, both metaphorically and physically. Having to hang on like grim death kickstarted my RSI again and I had to give up. I will have another go one day because I believe the ending is a stunner. Please don't anyone reveal it on this thread because I'd rather find out for myself, as I'm sure would those who haven't played it yet.
