I have two in mind, Red Dead Redemption GOTY and the Rocksmith...
I have no doubts about Red Dead... but what do you think about Rocksmith?
is it worth it? is it really a good game to learn guitar?

Saw some excersices on in and it caught my atention... but Im no 100% sure yet... what do you think?

I can bought them both... just dont know if it's worth to spend the money for the rocksmith ._.

I love it, honestly. It really helped me with the basics, as it allows you to single out parts of songs and replay them over and over until you can actually do it, it and eases you into the actual tabs (For instance, you will play one note at 50% difficulty, but then have to play a chord for that same note at 85% difficulty).

I fully recommend it, though just to warn you, if you are playing the "Story Mode" (Really just them throwing four songs at you while you learn to play each at a time), every time you go into a concert they throw a random song you have never heard of at you....

Thank you! I already play guitar, but im far from being good... I can play some songs and a few solos (no very hard ones...) But the game look interesting because of the excercises it has to train pentatonics, and speed, accuracy, etc...

plus, because of university and work (actually just work...) I had to quit playing, so I tought it was a good game to begin playing again happy

I'll go for it in some hour! Thank you very much happy

I've been playing the guitar for a long time, and let me tell you, while you will get the "practical" side with enough practice and will, you won't get the "music theory" side. And that's it's very important for both composing and improvising.

If you really wanna learn to play the guitar, I suggest you go to a good trusted instruments store, and ask them for a good guitar teacher. They sure know someone.

I played for 2 years the guitar without studying with a teacher, after I hired one, I realized how much I was missing. He realized I already had the "practical" side good enough, I just needed some more technique in there. But in the side of music theory, that's where we focused. 1 year and a half later he told me "I have nothing left to teach you besides music movements and more techniques, you know enough to create your own."

Now I can compose, I can improvise, I know how to play anything you throw at me (unless it's super fast, my fingers are not as fast as say, Steve Vai or Yngwie Malmsteen, nor do I care to achieve that, it's not my type of playing).

I really, recommend you, search for a good teacher, that teaches you BOTH how to PLAY, and how to IMPROVISE. Learning to improve is the same thing as learning how you CAN compose, in the end you can compose however you want, but as a famous guitarist said, "you first need to learn the rules, before you break them."

I've been playing guitar for a good while, and jumping into Rocksmith was really easy for me, though I have to say they really need to add songs with more challenge, as it seems the entire game is really just for easing people into the concept.

If you're looking to learn some new tunes and practice more Rocksmith is great. I highly recommend it for my students when they ask me about it. With that being said, it's not a replacement for lessons and won't teach you proper technique, exercises to hone that technique, or any type of music theory.
