best spear for low lvl pvp?

im making a spear character for the lvl 50 tier in the collosium and i can't decide between which 2 spears i should pick
my options are either the demon spear or moonlight butterfly horn

demon spear has great reach but is going to be mad weak since im only lvl 50

moonlight butterfly horn chips great through just about any shield and requires less points for max damage but is a bit shorter

what do yall think??

Unless you are really good with spears and know how to keep people at a distance, I say pick power over reach.

Then definitely go for reach. It doesn't matter if you don't do as much because if they never get a hit on you then you can just whittle away at them. Not only that, but I've noticed long spears (katanas and rapiers for that matter as well) get an advantage in that there's a slight lag that can sometimes catch people off guard when they think they dodged it.

That's good thinking but the ONLY problem with that is if someone turtles especially with a crest shield, the demon spear first off has horrible chip damage maybe like 8-10 at most, and will not break guard (I've tested it out many times) Now the good think about the moonlight spear is that it chips around 30 even for a crest shield, so 10 hits is basically half their hp especially since its a lvl 50 maxium tier, so basically someone could stall for 3 minutes with my demon spear but definitely couldn't stall with a moonlight spear.. Just my thoughts so far

Well with that it's more of choosing your weakness. If you have an empty slot you can always pull a great combustion against shields or (if you can time it) fire tempest. It is hilarious to see turtles think they can shield through it and a second later they're 10 feet in the air

I'm not sure how much damage you can do with MLBH on low SL, especially if you have low Int. Demon's Spear may do less chip damage, but has good reach instead and I think that it should have better damage than MLBH with no stats to back it up.

You can also use any other spear made elemental as well.
Unless you invests stats to use Pike, other spears have a lot smaller reach than Demon's and MLBH, but made elemental, they could do more damage than those two.

I'm not really sure about this, because I only use MLBH on Int and Silver Knight's Spear on Dex builds. I'm trying to use Partizan now, because some people here said it was a hidden gem.

If you want something against turtles, juts use Shotel. You should have enough Dex to have it elemental, or use spells, like Black Flame, or Force.

For SL50, I'd say a Lightning Partizan. Chaos would have a bit more AR, but if you mix in some pyro attacks, your opponent won't have a shield with both great lightning and fire defense!

Well if you're going 32 INT there is no reason to not use the MLBH.

I'm not really a spear user, but with my last character I upgraded the Lightning Spear I got from Sen's Fortress to +5, and I have to say, it kicks ***. Especially for low levels. Killed Iron Golem, Ornstein & Smough, the Four Kings and the Sanctuary Guardian with it. Right now I'm going for Artorias. I'll probably use it at least until NG+.

Edit: I just wanted to say I killed Artorias with the Lightning Spear +5 earlier. While two-handing the weapon, it takes me two strongs attacks and one normal attack to stop Artorias from buffing himself up. Which means if I am far away when he starts buffing himself, or I have low stamina, or I am just two seconds late to react, he will buff himself. You can guess it was a very, very tense fight. Took me more than five tries to kill him. Might be the most satisfying boss victory I got in this game.

If you're investing 32 INT there's no reason to go with the Demon Spear. You'd have a lot of other options to do more damage. I'd say either go with the MLBH or CMW and the Leo Ring with either a +15 Pike or Partizan, depending on whether or not your other stats will allow for the Pike. Obviously the Leo isn't going to increase your buff damage, but you'll still have the added buff damage on top of your physical counter damage. The Demon Spear is pretty bad in comparison to all those options IMO

I was thinking 32 Int was pretty high for a SL50 PvP toon--unless you really want it! For a spear toon, I was thinking more like this: http://mmdks.com/kgv . But if you want to make a mage with a spear, then yeah, definitely go with the MLBH.

For Int, I'd go with this: http://mmdks.com/khe . (You can change the armor, I didn't put any thought into it.) Minimum End might look worrying, but it's not bad at all. All you need is enough to poke and roll a few times.
