question about weight Empty question about weight

Post by Vorcan Tue Dec 25, 2012 8:05 am

So I have this magic character.
I gave her the ring to do flip flops, but for some reason after I tried switching from Oolacile's gear to something better, I suddenly rolled really slowly.
(This is after upgrading my endurance)

I could flipflop with Oolacile's gear, so I tried switching 1 piece, which made me slow to roll. The piece was only 3 units of weight heavier though.
And I'm pretty dang sure I already upped my endurance enough to gain at least double that amount.

Aside from that, I find it odd that I would go from, flipflop to slow-*** roll.
It's not like I'm putting on heavy armor, why don't I at least get the quick roll?
I am very confused, is this a bug of some sort?
I mean...if you need to be below 10% in order to flipflop, how the heck do I have enough weight to slow down the roll to such an extent? Makes no sense! D:

They changed the flip-flop ring to where it only works when you're under 25% burden. Aka, fast roll requirements.

Definently one of the best ones, now midroll isn't pointless.

    Please carefully read what I said;

I already am able to flipflop all over the place.
Using a certain set that amounts to a certain weight.
My problem is that if I change ONE (1) piece of the set, to a heaver piece that is "3" units of weight heavier.
How come I am still "slow" rolling after putting it on?
Even after upping my endurance more than double the amount I "should" have needed to continue flipflopping.

It would be a lot less strange if I went from flipflop to fast roll. But instead I go from super agile flip flop. To rolling like I'm wearing heavy armor. (And that's after switching ONE piece of equipment that is "3" units of weight heavier)
    See my problem?

Well maybe you should raise it even further, because you seem to be hitting midroll with that 1 piece.

I re-read your first post a few times earlier, and I posted my conclusion.

How about this: What is your Endurance at right now, and what is your total weight with all of your equipment?

You're mid-rolling because you switched an armor piece and therefore increased your total equipment load to above 25%. 25% is now the standard if you want to do ninja flips. Anything above 25% will not let you flip.

Use this site and figure out how much endurance you should invest. - www.mugenmonkey.com/darksouls.

Keep in mind that for every 1 point that you add to your max equip load, the 25% mark is raised by 0.25, not by 1!

Ah right, that explains why I can't flip flop.
But it still doesn't make much sense that the rolling animation is that much slower. I mean all I did was replace one piece of fabric with a "slightly" heavier piece of fabric. Yet the roll animation makes it seem like I changed from fabric to something much heavier.
Shouldn't I at least be able to roll decently fast? I mean it's only a 3 point difference...
Or is the "fast roll" in the exact same weight category as flipping?
Cause that would certainly explain the sudden decrease in roll-speed (although it doesn't make much sense in practice still >.>; )

In any case, thanks for the info, I guess I'll just add more endurance silly

    Yes dammit xD
under 25% is fast roll, between 25% and 50% is mid roll, above 50% is fat roll. If you equip the DWGR aka flipflop ring, fast roll is replaced by flipflop, so fastroll doesn't exist anymore. If your armor is too heavy, you go straight from flipflop to midroll!
