When I started spamming, I kinda felt like this guy in 8:12 - 14:55

You shouldn't feel bad, just like I don't feel bad when I one-shot gankers in the forest with Darkbead. The way I see it, it's their own fault for being gankers.

If you're alone and fighting more than one player at a time, as far as I'm concerned almost any tactic is fair game. The only ones I'll never do are glitching and attacking during gestures, at least any gestures except 'well what is it.' If someone's dumb enough to do that one while their opponent is alive, then they deserve to get trounced during it.

I once chain-backstabed a guy of a cliff after he killed an Afk Forest Hunter and did the "well what is it" gesture, his phantom promptly followed with a "look skyward" lol

The only regret I have is that the host wasn't able to see his own phantom making fun of him.

I have to admit, I'm a bit bothered by what I did a bit ago too. I was dueling in the Moonpit and I stunlocked someone to death with the 1h r1's of a Claymore because I panicked. I have about half a mind to apologize to the dude I did it too to see if we can have more matches where I don't freak out.

Stunlocking is a real turn off for me, as I like both people to have a chance to fight back.

When did Tryhard become a bad thing? I mean really, shouldn't people put effort into winning?

How is pivot BSing trolling? It's a great way to punish mistakes an opponent makes.

How does this make him a ganker? AFAIK The accepted meaning of ganker is either A. someone camping a spawn point with the like of firetempest or HornetsBS or B. A host + phantom(s) gangbanging one person.

I personally see nothing wrong with pivot-BSes, but if you think they are dishonorable and that you shouldn't do them then fine. But if those people fought in a way that broke your honor code then it's perfectly acceptable to meet them there. I always have to drop my standards while invading since there is no set honor code.

IF you are willing to drop your standards then it just means you have low standards. Your standards are as low as you are willing to go, and from what OP has said, he repeatably invaded the same people and resorted to using easy tactics to get wins, when he could not kill them with his original methods.

I had a fight recently and throughout it the guy would turtle and kept trying to kick me off a ledge in darkroot. I moved toward the edge and as he move forward I roll BS'd him. I was content as he fell off the edge and indicted me xD.

The very act of invading and killing the host is ganking. That's the entire reason its a feature, to let gankers have fun.

Its not ganking to kill a person who invades your game... ever. At most its farming if done in the forest.

Then we have different ideas on ganking. What you described I would call Farming and you are farming invaders for souls. Ganking, to me, is invading another's game when they don't want to fight you and killing them. Using cheap tactics just makes it worse ganking.

I only pivot BS anyone who cheap shot me, plus the people I murdered were standing at the bonfire waiting for invaders. Your idea of ganking is completely wrong, been murdering hosts since Demon's Souls, your argument is invalid. 8)

There are actually two invasion slots, two summoning slots.

So,
1 Host
2 Summons
2 invaders.

The two summons can actually be red summons, as long as they are summoned.

So invaders can gank, it is more common for hosts to do it. The forest, if hosting alone, is a prime place where invaders will gank.

Infinite if it makes you feel any better, you have the Tolvo seal of approval. I'm a guy with a very strict code of ethics in this game, but I also believe that retaliation is fine. I will say though there are ways to still by your own moral guidelines and still win, but it will require you to be a lot more skilled than those you are fighting.

Of course, if you check the For the Glory of Alvina thread I have a lot of tips and tricks for killing gankers you invade. Don't be confused about me calling them farmers, that was the term we used to use for them in that thread before it became gankers.

Well we can argue word definitions all day and not agree, so we can just agree to not argue about it.

If I meet tryhards in game who manage to repeat invade me, I just disconnect and reconnect to boot them out. That way I always win. And that way I don't need to resort to cheap tactics to win and risk them feeling like it is ok to do the same.

Ahh so you feel it wrong for me to tell you how to play by suggesting that you were right in the op that you felt ashamed for resorting to cheaper tactics then the people you tried to kill, but then I mention that I enjoy playing the game only for Coop and fun, you feel its ok to tell me how to play the game.

If you want to play a game with the morales you set up for yourself, do so. What is the point of being honarable to only the people that you feel deserve it? Will you so easily throw out your beliefs just to get back at someone? This is less about the game itself and more about the fact that you do not cherish the codes you have set up ergo are insincere. Though pivot bs is not try hard since you can counter it. To me there are only two tryhards moves. Infinite db/mush heal. Estus but only if the opponent is about to lose ergo is insincere about the codes he wishes to uphold. (Btw i normally USED to host in burg so yea pretty much duel situation there) p.s my ps3 is broken hence the USED to.

This is the only game forum I've ever belonged to, and I was stunned when I joined at how much invaders complain about unfair treatment. I was like, 'But... you're the invader; you're the one picking the fight.' I still don't understand it. If I walk into a guy's house and hit him in the face, and he pulls out a golf club and hits me in the head, and I say, 'that's not fair we're using fists!' I doubt he'd accept my restrictions. I also doubt that his big strong sons would wait their turn while I beat up their dad.

So you get a +1 for the common sense notion that invaders are...well, invading.

I feel that when an invader invades a quester, the host and phantoms are aloud to do whatever it takes to get rid of an invader and that the invader has no right to complain. However once they start hanging out at spawn points with another phantom so they can "farm", they are no longer a quester, they are now a ganker. If they wanted to "farm", they could have done it on their own. The only reason they have a phantom is so that they can get easy kills. Some gankers have the nerve of using rude gestures or sending you mail telling you that you suck after they've cheesed you, in which case someone has to remind them how low on the food chain they really are.

As a lvl 300+ ForestHunter, I know that almost everyone still in the forest by that point is only there to farm other players and that they have probably cheesed many of my comrades to get to that point. Therefore, I have no qualms about using the cheapest tactics available to me. They want to be cheap? I'll show them that they suck at that too.

I am however not saying that all gankers lack skill, on the contrary, I've actually found that some of them can put up a decent fight once their phantoms are out of the way. I'm not sure how to feel about those guys however. They could just play PVP, instead they're choosing the easy way out. Whether it's out of malice or for the souls, I'm not sure. Nor do I care, I'll hunt them down just the same.
