It's time to become a dragonbro! Empty It's time to become a dragonbro!

Post by Cabjoy Fri Dec 21, 2012 9:37 pm

So I've stolen many a humanity from helpless wanderers around Lordran.

I've defended the forest from those silly, silly housewives.

I've spread terror and stolen the eyes of the innocent for the great Gravelord Nito.

I've even spent a little time slaying the guilty.

Now, it's time to become a dragon.

I'm going to be running dragon body and head on a heavily ranged character (Faith Archer), and also on a CMW buffing Dragon Bone Fist user with 40 STR (OIC, 25 INT). Both will be lvl 99 builds, but I want to know if there's any niche information or tips that any of you experienced dragons (I'm looking at you, Spurgun...) have for a baby dragon, fresh from the egg.

    Thanks lovelies.

Ohhh sorry dude I've already got my builds confirmed, I just meant tips in terms of when fighting. If there's anything particular you find people doing when fighting against a dragon, or ways you find fighting as a dragon that are effective that you might not do otherwise.

Particularly how to use the dragon items effectively. Stuff like that happy

Thanks for the suggestion though! Dropping end wasn't something I considered until now.

umm for fighting style, personally i prefer long weapons when i dragon bro as it lessens the chance of me getting hit, also crossbows are very good for after roaring,

The dragon cov takes forever to get summoned for invasions. Also, your bleed resist is going to be pitiful while naked, so I recommend a Bloodshield if you don't have any other shield you absolutely need for the build.

If you land a roar close up, the enemy will be stunned long enough for you to bs them. With a buffed dragon bone fist you're looking to add a good 400 damage in buff damage that way.

Well it's not gonna exclusively be DBF, I'm using MSGS as a back up but wanted to muck around with DBF. I'll most likely put in a cross bow and I was thinking the same thing about the Bloodshield Ghadis. I figured it'd be nice to have bloodshield and G halberd on a dragonbro but this particular build isn't made for it. I think my ranged build will benefit more from drag cov than the str build.

You can roar before you shoot with your bow, the buff will last long enough for you to deal more damage with you arrow.

I don't have that much problem with the bleed, since i can roll out of it. I only bleed if i'm stunlocked by someone, and that rarely happens. So i don't use the bloodshield on any of my toons.
You should always carry moss though, for the poison/toxic. Arrows will poison you in one hit.

I've never used the DBF, so i can't say how good it is. I don't think it's very good though. But you should try out the UGW weapons with you str build (specifically the clubs and the DGM). You can often land a jumping attack after a roar, if you're quick enough. With the boost from the roar, it deals a massive amount of damage.

And as Sparkly said, wolf ring is pretty much a must for all dragons. I usually go with wolf+FaP/cloranthy.
You should practice hotswapping, and swap your wolf ring for a RTS ring when you're low on health. The poise wont help you if you're gonna die in 1-2 hits anyway, and the RTS ring can be very nasty.

You can also deadangle with the roar (you might need to practice a bit first though). It's useful against people with greatshields, who think they can just block all of your attacks. It doesn't break their guard, so the stun animation will be short, but it's long enough to get a hit in with most weapons.

And the dragon headstone is useless. It deals practically no damage, it drains all of your stamina and it obscures your vision.

Yeah Spurgun, I actually menu swap Wolf and RTSR on most of my builds at the moment so it was definitely an option for this guy big grin

I hadn't thought of rolling out of bleed before, completely forgot so that saves me using Bloodshield so I can put the Crest Shield on my STR build.

Also, just how long does the roar buff last anyway? 1s? 1.5s?

Wooow, farming Dragon Scales blows. I'd have a better time using the freakin Dragon Eye stone than killing these dragons. They barely drop anything!

i've had the most luck with low level pvp as a dragon, higher level toons don't seem to summon dragons for some reason?

the blood shield is definitely a must for any full dragon, the wolf ring helps allot as well. i also tend to swap around the steel ring or one of the stone plate rings depending on what i need at the moment. i also tend to favour strength builds (min 34, i really like the dragon great sword, it's defence bonus is also helpful) with no fth or int. i don't actually miss having access to spells or miracles as a full dragon.

You should get a friend to duel you, and then just use the dragon eye instead of the rss. You'll quickly get scales and have fun that way. He can also give you the scales he gets from his wins.

I've personally never even seen a dragon summon sign.
