CSI Firelink Shrine Empty CSI Firelink Shrine

Post by Sentiel Sat Dec 22, 2012 2:17 pm

I've found a :pendant: in Undead Parish. 😢
I know Petrus has some issues with Rhea, although I don't fully understand them. I just know he's an a**hole.

    A quote from wiki:
If you take too long to visit her (Rhea), after Tomb of Giants (exploring 2 or more areas and killing bosses), Petrus will kill her. She will drop 7 humanities along with a Pendant at her location in Undead Parish. (Update: Reah will be at the altar for the 2 areas and bosses ONLY.)

I already know this, even though I wasn't sure about the specifics. So I always warp to Rhea immediately upon rescuing her, so Petrus doesn't kill her. I usually buy all her stuff and she is then abducted and later found hollow in Archives.

This time, I wanted to keep her there alive, just for a change, so I didn't buy her Divine Blessing/s. Rhea was in Parish for a long time, but then I found a Pendant. To make sure, I killed Petrus and he dropped the Ivory Talisman, which is evidence enough for me, that he killed her, as he doesn't drop Ivory Talisman otherwise and in it's description, it is written that it is used by female memebers of Way of White. Petrus strikes me as an extremely ugly woman....

I wonder why, when I clearly prevented her murder it still happened.

Does the "(Update: Reah will be at the altar for the 2 areas and bosses ONLY.)" mean that no matter what I do, she will die?
Or does it mean that Petrus will kill her after this "time limit" has expired and I can prevent her death by killing Petrus before he does his evil deed?

PS: If you're wondering why I want to save her, it is for my evil genius plan to create a harem in Firelink Shrine...now only to come up with a way to get Priscilla and Gwynevere in there.

I think he kill her after you buy all the miracles. Or if you never talk to her, after you kill your next boss.

I always kill Petrus anyway, his ugliness ruins my atmosphere.

I've actually had Reah survive all the way to endgame after buying all her stuff, maybe it's cause I had already beat Seath? Or does she sell Homeward? cause I probably didn't buy it twice.

I saw a video awhile ago, where someone was trying to demonstrate a pendant theory, and they had Petrus kill Rhea, and then got him to admit to it. His dialogue was something like "After all, I am a wolf in sheep's clothing," or some such thing. I can't seem to get him to admit it to me though. It's one of the only dialogues I've never seen for myself. Does anybody know how you get him to do this?

I've bought everything from her, except for Divine Blessings. Loaded the game and she remained there. If she was to be abducted for Archives, she would disappear after the loading screen.

I have talked to her several times, almost every time I went to Parish (I'm having troubles getting BSS Look Skyward ). She was there for a long time. I remember killing more than five bosses and she was still there, but then I left for archives, killed Seath and to Lost Izalith to kill Bed of Chaos and when I returned, she was dead.

    EDIT:
    @Plastic

I think you need to talk to Lautrec after Petrus returns from Catacombs. He then reveals his true colours. Perhaps he will then tell you about this, or perhaps you need to still have Lautrec in Firelink for him to say this. It never happened to me, so I'm not sure. I would much like to know what his problems is and stop him from killing Rhea, possibly without killing him.

Anyhow, I just want to keep Rhea alive.

^ Oh, I bet you're right. I don't think I've ever had Lautrec still alive by the time I do that whole sequence, and I remember reading that he has some choice things to say about Petrus at one point. haha, Lautrec's awesome.

Lautrec is OP cosplay. I never slaughtered Centipede Demon as fast as when I was cosplaying him. His music didn't even start properly and it was over. lol!
I wish I was this effective with my regular characters... sad

I would love to see what happens if you have both Lautrec and Patches in Firelink at the same time, but it's impossible.

I think you yourself need to be WotW in order to trigger this particular dialogue....I THINK It's been a long time since I messed with them clerics (I'm just so tired of getting kicked into holes)

Does petrus say anything if he actually manages to kill you? I think I heard that piece of dialogue in a Prepare to Cry video

    Edit: This was it

He says "Fool, what where you thinking? Too bad for you, I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing?" Sound's like victory dialogue to me.

Nice. I haven't seen this PtC video yet. I'm always impressed with these.

Who has? "Feel the Wrath of the God's", uses Force... silly Petrus silly

EdiT: I checked the other wiki(don't judge me lol) and it's what he says after he kills you, but only if you've gotten him to confess.

    The full line is:
    Fool…What were you thinking?
Too bad for you, I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Best of luck as a Hollow! Gah hah hah hah hah!

^ I didn't see you ask. You keep her alive by visiting her ASAP after you rescue her in the Tomb. Usually if I'm there for the purpose of rescuing her, I'll warp right out to the Parish, and go speak with her right away. Once you've spoken to her in the Parish Petrus won't kill her no matter what, but if you buy out all her spells then she'll disappear to the Archives. So if you want to keep her alive indefinitely just don't buy all her spells. Leave her with at least 1 to sell.

I just read the OP. Yeah, it's because you bought her spells. The other stuff in her inventory doesn't matter I don't think. If you buy all her spells then she's going to take off. If you've found her pendent then she's definitely dead already.

If she takes off, she doesn't leave the Pendant behind and Petrus also doesn't kill her. She wasn't in the Archives. What happened is exactly the same to what happens when he kills her. But I want to know why he killed her, when I talked to her several times and kept her there for a long time already.

My girlfriend tried to recreate this with her character, but she left Homeward in Rhea's spells for sale, as you don't need more than one, which she got from Petrus and Rhea still died several bosses later, again, with same circumstances as in my case.

You, sir, get a +, because I totally agree with you.

While I hate to kill non hostile NPC, I may start slaying Petrus on sight. I'll have to absolve my sins later, so Rhea won't be mad at me, but at least she'll be alive. Too bad killing him won't change what happens in Tomb of the Giants. :/

It seems killing him is the best option to keep Rhea alive so far...

I've read that it wouldn't work. You have to kill him, after he comes back by himself. It's a pain in the *** if you want to save Reah and kill Nito at the same time(though I don't remember if you can do both anyway, thank god for the warp function).

Can you join WoW from Rhea? I can't remember. That's part of the reason I don't like to kill Petrus. He's the covenant master.

That's odd. She's never done that for me before, disappeared before I got everything I wanted from her, but I've also never really studied the whole thing. What are you trying to keep her alive past her spell sales for anyway?

You can. As long as you don't quit or leave the Tomb after you save her, she'll still be there sitting in the pit when you're fighting Nito, so it doesn't count as another place visited.

I'm not sure if it does or not honestly, but according to most sources you have to visit 2 separate places and fight 2 separate bosses for her to be killed anyway, even if you do buy the farm on the way to, or in the fight with, Nito, and she disappears, it shouldn't matter, as long as you make your way back to her right away afterwards. I'm actually on my way in there with my most current character shortly. Maybe I'll try it out so we can know definitively.
