If I'm using an elemental weapon on a low-level fight with the kings, which is better?

Not much difference between them. If you have Chaos and humanity to boost it that's best, but Fire and Ltng. are just about identical.

Chaos +10 Humanity.
It wrecks them until NG+3. After that, Great Lord Greatsword AND High DPS Weapons have worked just fine.

I owned the Four drama Kings with Quelaag's Fury Sword own New Game+. But if you don't have it, fire or lighting kicks their butt quicker than just normal old physical damage.
EDIT: I had cap my weapons attack power with 10 humanity of course. But then I had also fully upgraded the sword as well. Forgot to mention that.

No real need for elements against the 4 biggest assholes in gaming.
I can clear them out easily with my Falchion+15 as long as i don't mess up.
You just need a weapon that can deal good dps or something that hits like a truck. Only thing you should worry about is messing up.

He's a low level build, the Kings won't go down to a 250 damage falchion. I recall them being weak to Lightning, but that's prenerf.

i think the kings are actually weaker against fire than lightning, lightning is still better than +15 unless you are high enough level to take full advantage of the weapons scaling and are buffing.
i had better luck against them with a +10 Fire Broadsword than i did with a +5 Lightning Broadsword, the +15 Broadsword i tried didn't even compare (NG, SL18 i believe).
i most recently used a +15 Great Axe buffed with Fire Resin to absolutely wreck the Four Kings, i only had to fight three of them and i was waiting for each one to spawn between kills. i didn't even have to heal myself (NG, SL65).
an even faster way to dispose of the Four Kings is with a Black Knight Halberd and Power Within, all you need are minimum required stats for the weapon and you are golden.
but at SL01, you will want either a Chaos or Fire weapon, the Fury Sword is an excellent choice if you have a starting class with the dex to use it.

So if I'm using an elemental weapon, is it best to have one that makes fast swings, so you can inflict more elemental damage in a shorter time? I only have 11 str and 12 dex, so I'm limited in the number of weapons I can use.
As a side note, I also spent most of my souls on upgrading the pyro glove to ascended +5. I have 1 att slot, but have the Darkmoon Seance ring for a second pyro. I figured I can take out at least the first two with combustion (32 casts). But I'll have to finish them with weapons.
I have the Chaos ember, but no real way to get many chunks, because Izalith is blocked by the orange fog.

Since they're kind of wood looking to me, I automatically asume, they're weak to fire.

yeah, i would think that a faster weapon, like two handing a Falchion or the Fury Sword, would be best. great combustion also works well on the kings, since you have an ascended pyro glove. i would avoid trying to use fire ball or firestorm because you want to stay as close to the Kings as possible and keep moving around them.

Pardon my previous post. Didn't see that you were lower level.
At your point, it's easier to find a weapon that's fast and does good DPS. I'm shamelessly promoting the Falchion here. No Chaos? Then go for the Fire path. You won't need much stat investment to do good damage with a Fire or Chaos path. Besides, the Falchion is fast and can hit at 3~5 times depending on your stamina. Finding a hard hitting weapon with your low stats are going to be really difficult.
Also to note, the Chaos path increases your fire damage rather than physical damage. Fire increase physicals. You can try to farm those red chunks from the worm in front of the gold fog in the ruins.
EDIT: Or as Nybbles said, you can go for the Queelaag's sword too. You only need Demon's to upgrade that which i think is easier than farming for the Red chunks in the ruins.

Farm chunks from darkwraiths make lightning+4 Club if you can get to anor londo, if not a +5 club will do you only need large green shards for that!

You can try to make a +15 and buff it with lightning resin. Its even more effective than upgrading to lightning

Fastest I ever dusted the Four Hombres was with a +15 falchion buffed with pine resin. I wasn't a super low level though, I think I was around 50.

I consider the falchion my "secret weapon" because it is apparently so obscure. I have gotten messages asking what sword I was using from players I fought.
IIRC, after a long chain of attacks it even stunned the Kings allowing time to let stamina recover safely, so I basically hit em until I was out of green, not having to keep some in reserve for dodgy-rolly. Is the falchion the best? I don't know, probably not, but it did make what used to be my DKS bane into an easy fight.

yup, you can easily have 10 or more Demon titanite by your first visit to Anor Londo, which is a really easy +5 Fury Sword.
1 titanite demon in Parish, 1 in Catacombs, 4 in Sens, trade with snugly for 2 more, you get 2 from the titanite Demon in Anor Londo and that's 10 right there. plus there a few in chests found in Anor Londo.

A maxed Falchion with resin? Godly. I have no idea how many times i've stunlocked monsters or players with that beautiful thing. You can stagger the 4Kings with the Falchion?! I've spammed R1 4~5 times on them but they never staggered. Only time that happened was with my tank.

Yeah but the other 2 Demons in Sen's aren't going to be easy for lower levels unless you're properly equipped.

A couple people have said either Fire or Ltng. are better, but neither is. I experimented a bit with my challenge toon and the difference was negligible. While my hits were doing around 750 per, one of them... (Fire, I think) did only like 4 hp less, which is basically nothing.
So choose the path that'll help you in other parts of the game, because it won't make a difference for the Kings.

Love.
It's the greatest element of all. Confess your love to them. Perhaps they may take you to their Castle in the Void... and then?
Slaughter them with a Chaos+5, 10 Humanity.

Thanks for all the great tips on low-level weapon strategies. I will definitely try the elemental falchion if my stats support it.
I'm embarassed to say, I beat the Kings this morning, and didn't take a single swing of my sword. I punked out and loaded up 32 casts of pyro with my fully ascended flame. Tanked it in a combination of Havel and Stone armor, and just spammed the bejesus out of them. I tried a lot of different strategies, like going light to dodge, but I couldn't get the timing and took way too much damage from their swords.
So, now I'm going to torture myself some more and try the DLC at a low level, although I'm guessing Artorias will teach me the error of my ways
Any tips for low-level DLC? I've been thinking about the Guardian and his lightning balls...how does the Effigy work on those?

Effigy isn't necessary for the Guardian. Dodging is your best friend in that match.

Maybe the green crest and cloranthy ring would be a better combo, then fire some pyro from range. I also have a +14 light crossbow that does decent damage (but not compared to pyro).

Yes, the Grass Crest would be great here. It's been a lifesaver for me at times. That instant charge the Guardian does always gets me and I can't dodge away in time. Bellowing would be better for a ring slot here. Increase the damage of your pyro.
