Considering the AI of Demons and Dark souls didnt really deserve the title "Intelligence" i dont think it would work too well as its own Mechanic .

However if its well implemented i would totaly love it .
Imagine in the Dukes Archives when you were killed by Seath and thrown in the Prison you had all your Weapons striped and had to escape using Stealth and causing havoc with those Banshes .

    THAT i Want big grin

I really hope there is not a stealth mode. I do (always) hope for a better AI.
One day, I hope to find a .hack vagrant AI.

Personally while I love picking the stealthy path in RPGs I would not like that in Dark Souls. I would hate to think people could exploit this system and become Havel's Sneaking UGS wielders.

Also I think it would become the ultimate trolling tool. Just use whatever invisibility skills you possess and go for the one hit BSes. Though that is me being pessimistic.

It could be implemented really well.

I would perhaps like a ring that randomly switches you between visible and invisible. It would be so off putting to see a guy running at you, the disappear for a momment, the reappear elsewhere. But thats just one of my silly ideas.

Please, for the love of god, do not have a stealth ring in this game. Tie it to equipment and player skill (not character skill). That way, you won't have sneaky Havel's moving around the place.

As far as animation goes, I say no to a toggled stealth mode. I say this discussion should be tied directly to the sheathe thing from the other thread. Think about it. Let's say when the player has their weapon sheathed, they want normal, but when they have it unsheathed, they have this careful, stalking like walking animation as they move throughout a dungeon. That can easily double as someone sneaking around too. Whoever has the lightest equipment should be able to "stalk" closer to the enemy than the next guy. Those with full stealth gear should be able to right up on a dude and slit his throat.

Actually, let me add to that. How about ditching stealth rings, but allow mages to still have their stealth spells. I think that's fair.

That way, if heavy armor wearers want to be stealthy, they have to sacrifice some leveling points to build up their intelligence to use that spell.

yeah, that's key too. They have to do something about the whole "you've been invaded thing". How about something more subtle, so that only the player that's actually paying attention will realize they've been invaded?

Here's an idea. Lighter armor results in quieter movement/walking/running noise. And fabric armors result in less visual exposure (due to less light-reflecting properties) than metal armors.

    True beyond words.

The fact is in souls stealth isn't even necessary in pve, a skilled enough player can easily just run and dodge their way to a boss, and the fact bonfires reset the aggro is a message that running bat outta hell style is a viable option. I suppose stealth things aid this, but again there's a big difference between ring of fog and having an undetectable stealth build

I wouldn't care for a dedicated "stealth" mode. I like the way stealth is now in DKS, it just takes imagination. I've used that ring that makes your footsteps silent to get a backstab on invaders a few times in the past, and hiding behind corners and using the camera to see around is always an option. The chameleon spell is brilliant and I see it used quite a bit, sometimes to my dismay.

I'm sure more imaginative stuff could be added, but I would not like a slunched over crouch that allows me to walk right by enemies or be completely invisible because I am in a shadow ten fight away.

If they could make it work and still make it seem like a Soul game then yes, of course it should be added. IMHO the best thing that gaming developers can do in their games is giving the player the option to play the way they like to play. The more choices you have in the gameplay the better(atleast in most circumstances it is). While Dks did of course offer some variety, i can't say i ever felt like it offered the ability to truly sneak. Oh, i can become translucent? Fantastic, but i don't feel like i'm truly sneaking. Going back to the main point of my post; If they could implement it while still balancing the game, then yes, it should most certainly be included in the game, but if not... Well, you know what then.

    I also don't think it should be totally useless in PVP, however i would have to quote myself once again;

"If they could implement it while still balancing the game, then yes, it should most certainly be included in the game, but if not..."

I see no harm in being able too crouch, it wouldn't be to useful for PVE except for a few situations though.

And that kind of stealth shouldn't fork for PVP, just like how deflection doesn't

There actually is sneaking in DkS. I heard someone in an earlier post that "enemies have 360 vision". You can actually sneak up on an enemy if you just walk up behind them. As long as you start walking early enough so they dont hear your armor then they wont turn around until your close enough for a backstab, you can still pull off the backstab right as they start to turn around as along as your timing is right. So IMO that is DkS version of stealth, you just dont have the crouching animation, which I kinda like better, you look like a bad a$$ walkin up behind an enemy like its no big deal then as they turn around you put a knife in thier back.
So its not the stealth system most people are used to, but it really is possible to walk up unseen behind enemies and take them out silently.
This is my opinion on stealth. What do you guys think, am I right? is there a kind of stealth already put into DkS? or am I just over-imaginative?

I agree. I've been told a lot about that very thing by a person who really knows what s/he's talking about. Just being casual and leading others to thinking you're 'supposed to' be there is his/her preferred (and often was his/her most successful) form of stealth. What you said is a very real and very practical form of stealth.

I don't see what's wrong with having a dedicated stealth button. It'll be just like Skyrim, which is obviously the platinum standard that all people should judge everything by.
