My first run in with a hacker

Post by LunarFog on Sun Dec 16, 2012 5:45 pm

So...yesterday I was having a blast killing people and what not, but then I invade a world and I walk around the bottom floor of undead parish and I only see a white phantom. So I backstab him and I see a dungpie fly at me. I look around and dont see anything but then another dungpie hits me.

I run upstairs because I couldn't tell where he was and didn't want to get backstabbed and then all I see is this guy whose body is 100% invisible(not Ring of Fog invisible, just not there) except for his stupid child mask floating head. I lock onto him and we fight for a good while, but then he lagstabs me which was one of the worst ones i've experienced in my life and I die.

Is that a hacker or just some DLC content I wasn't aware of mixed with lag?

Hacker. And this was your first one? Consider yourself fortunate.

Might not necessarily be a hacker, but just extremely severe lag. It's possible that it was, but I've experienced things similar to this before, and then got messages that I was being cheap with the lag. I got killed by an invader who hadn't spawned yet once, then as I was getting my "You Died" screen, he appeared spawning and playing out the animations that he killed me with.

Definitively a hacker, it seems they're increasing with the loss of the BB glitch, but it seems just rare enough that only players that play an enormous amount of pvp will commonly run into them.

I've had invisible hosts. It seemed to be a glitch with the thorn armor from what I could tell.

There are cases where you invade and you see the Host randomly taking damage and dodging like he were in a fight and theres nothing but you and him there.

Sometimes you can't see other invaders and they can't see you (Or hurt you). The Thorn legs also makes you invisible. Invisible host? Hacker.

The top guy in the Book of the Guilty is a hacker. All you Xbox people should go report him.

Being invisible does not = hacker. I've been invaded twice by fully invisible players, and neither of them knew what I was talking about when I asked them about it. Also got invaded at Duke's Archives by a guy I couldn't lock on to until I was within about two steps of him. Weird things happen.

If you beat the **** out of someone and they take no damage then they're a hacker.

i've had a few invisible invaders now.

the first couple were definitely due to lag. the fog walls came up and i was waiting for the invader to show when i suddenly start taking damage and there is nothing, i mean nothing, around me that could possible hit me. then the invader spawned right next to where i died, well away from their usual spawn point.

the latest one, i was at the bonfire near Gwyndolin when i got invaded, the invader came down the rotating staircase but he was completely invisible except for the stamina regen aura. it was super weird. somehow i managed to beat the invader even though i couldn't see anything but their aura.

Umm... that's way too extreme to be called lag. It has to be called Ultra Greatlag or something.

It could be one of the worst cases of lag in recent Dark Souls history, but after I've browsed through the thread it could be a host with some form of a hack and some lag throughout the battle.

Also, maybe I'm the only one here, but am I the only one that thinks that only seeing the mask of the child floating in mid-air to be ominous or a little bit threatening? I'm not supporting hacking or anything of that nature but that would be a little threatening seeing the mask of the child just floating towards me.

If I ran into something like that it would only make my already irrational mask hate even more intense.

Shrug That makes sense I know a lot of people hate the masks in PVP, it gets on my moves a bit too.

Maybe it might work better if it was some sort of enemy in PVE rather than a player in PVP.
