Peculiar summoning

I've gotten myself to a SL 80 with my new Int character and, just for kicks, placed a summon sign in Parish, as I went to farm BSS.

I got summoned very quickly, to my own suprise.
After killing Gargoyles, that gave me 5000 souls, I proceeded to place my sign again and got immediately summoned. :shock:

I'm still in Parish after getting summoned ten consecutive times, with almost no waiting time to fight Gargoyles, evidently not on NG+ thanks to me getting only 5000 souls from them, on SL 80.

wtf?!
Are there really so many people close to my SL still fooling aroung in NG Parish with Gargoyles alive, or is this some bug?

I'm in Princess Guard covenant, if it matters.

Mabye these are the folks that have been saving the second bell till later? Seems like a pain to try and level up that high on the zones avalable without ringing bell.Could have been working forest for PVP?

Were they hitting for big damage?

They oneshot most enemies, except for Baldurs and do quite normal damage to Gargoyles, if any at all (they chicken out in some cases), but they get slaughtered by Lautrec.

They all use approperiate gear, like Longsword, Soul Arrows etc.
Their armor is usually starting gear with some additions, like parts of Hollow, Baldur and Chain sets.

It just looks like regular low SL Parish summoning, but I'm a freaking SL 80. Even if they went to kill Quelaag first, with the gear, that some of them use, it would be quite a feat.

I've tried messaging them, asking for their SL, with no resuslts so far.

Doesn't the princess guard covenant increase the chance to be summoned? even so that shouldt allow you to co-op with people likely below lvl 20 that is very strange.

Yep, is quite strange.

Maybe the patch has disabled summoning requirements, or maybe there are no SL restrictions on co-op? Either way, its best to have someone strong to help with a boss.

I'm pretty sure restrictions are still in place.
I can't say it couldn't be thanks to the covenant. I've never used it much and have been in it just for lulz now, even so, it can't ignore the SL restrictions for co-op.
I've left and joined Dragonbros and I don't get summoned there anymore.

It IS NG+

You getting 5000 souls means you're on NG+.
I've been helping out in the Parish and after defeating the Gargoyles I get 1500 souls.

I guess I just stumbled upon some cosplaying group, or something then.

I had a (kind of) similar thing happen yesterday. A friend asked me for help with O & S at sl 220. I took my 213 out of mothballs and went there to help, but his internet crashed. For kicks I put my sign down, and I was really surprised that summoning was just as active as it is with my sl 55.

It's odd doing O & S at that level. We were so op I didn't even bother fighting the bosses much, I just ran behind the other guys buffing them with my Trident and gesturing like a dink.

This was the only time I've actually felt kind of sorry for invaders, too. Every last one of them ran and hid behind the giant sentinels, but we'd roll right through, barely breaking stride. There were Crystal Soul Spears flying everywhere.
