I've already said lances and flails. And what do you mean 'trains'?

^Sorry, I went ahead and posted without reading a good number of the posts.

And by trains...well, visualize your character with a lance and a shield doing the Pike's dash attack for as long as you hold the B button(with a balanced amount of stamina drain and damage, of course)...with your shield up.

NOW. The original Monsterhunter had a huge problem where Bullets and Spears were the only "real" viable options endgame. you HAD to peircing shot Lao, Cluster Fatalis. and if you were not Headlocking Raths with the BDSpear you were simply farming plates wrong. The trident(spear) was the most optimal 4 man time trial run of things like double Grav, or 3 + the BDS to lock from the terrible twins.

God I spent so long getting my sweet dual wield swords and within MINUTES went right back to the spear.

Actually I haven't picked up a MH title in a while I may just do that

No guns; this game is dark fantasy, not renassance (Sorry, butchered that word).

Only things I personally would like to see are Balls and Chains with giant sweeping attacks, lances with their thrusting "Trains" as someone else put it, and then add on top of that more unique boss weapons, like the Stormchaser, Dragon Skull basher and such. Our boss weapons in DkS aren't very unique with eachother....

Flails didn't cover huge sweeps; flails had metal balls only a few inches in diameter at most, on a chain little more than a foot (at most) long. If what you're speaking of is the giant foot-wide ball on a chain, that weapon really doesn't work. And, yes, I know the Chained Prisoner wielded one; he get's a freebie because that thing obviously is using a strength level well beyond what is plausible for humans, even in Souls.

In the words of Achmed: SILENCE! I keel you!

I would love a Flail if the Ball and Chain is too unrealistic, though look at any of the Great/Ultra Great weapons and tell me that a foot long metal ball on a chain would be out of place

Any? Certainly some are; other's are quite real. Zweihanders were real. (though their actual battlefield use is up to debate among historians) I do recognize that many of the other great or ultra weapons are a bit fantastical, even for fantasy. (at least for humans) That being said, swinging a blade or pole is very different from swinging a weight on a chain. Essentially all authentic weapons other than improvised were actually fairly graceful and well-balanced because of factors such as weight distribution, fulcrums, and so on. These techniques simply cannot play into flails; it's just a weight on a chain. Greatswords over 5 feet long were definitely used; foot-wide flails iron balls were not. That's akin to being a catapult.
Now that I have said that, I again say that I hope for flails and lances.

Hm... perhaps they can make multiple designs for the standard weapons, such as different longsword blades, handguards, handles, etc?

Katara. (punch dagger, for those not in the know)

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katara_(dagger)

Fist weapon, but thrust damage and with some range. Coolest weapon ever (and, you know, functional in battle)

One thing I would hope is that the weapons dont go any bigger or get too oversized like in Monster Hunter, weapons of that size simply wouldnt look right in DkS as even though its firmly embedded in Dark Fantasy its design isnt cliched or tongue in cheek.

I think the giant weapons suit Monster Hunter as it has more of a comicbook / anime feel than DkS, but the Dragon Greatsword, BKGS, Demon Great Machete just about get away with it as everything is so well conceived, but thats as far as they should go I reckon.

What would I like to see:
    Sai
    Ball and chain
    Lance
modified gardening equipment, shears, demon hoe, poisoned trowel happy
    classic 'big block' warhammer
maybe a thorned lassoo that lets you 'rope' them in and hit em with a right handed weapon?
    an anvil on a chain
    hammer gloves
axe made from the ribcage and spinal column of a baby dragon

especially like Pata, wind and fire wheels, i'm liking Bill too, with some fine engraving work one of those could be pretty tasty!

Tsukubo on the far right is particularly 'garden hoe' like happy

I think it'd be cool to have different looks for weapons. Like maybe 3 variants for each common weapon(Longswords, bows, shields, Axe, etc.)... It'd add a bit more personality.

Also, VISUALS FOR UPGRADE PATHS 100%!

Also, they could have very slight diffirences in stats too. So you could see and say "Oh, he perfers the slightly quicker axe with less damage." Or "Slightly slower and heavier, but a tad more damage."

While, I, too, think Indian weapons are cool-they just don't fit in the game. Can you really imagine Indian culture suddenly fitting into this setting? They have also kept the Far Eastern influence to a small level because this game takes place in a strictly northern European setting. These weapons just don't fit the setting and story.
And, again, no to having variable speeds/damages for the same weapon. We'll just end up with min-maxing players and pvp will likely be dominated by an even smaller number of weapons.

Katana are "far eastern." If the game doesn't take place in the same area (as they said it doesn't) then they could pull off an Item or 2, like they did with shiva and his ninja.

Bring back the kilij. We had it in Demon's Souls, but not in Dark Souls. If it's not in Dark Souls II, I am going to be very disappointed.
