Have I sinned if... Empty Have I sinned if...

    Post by Capricorn77 Mon Dec 10, 2012 8:28 pm

    Hello!
Not sure if this has already been asked, but here's the scenario:

When Big Hat Logan goes insane, strips down and is ready to killed you in that big chamber where you first meet Seath.

    Question:
If I kill him, does that automatically mean I've sinned (b/c I killed an NPC).
If so, will absolving my sins help to prevent me from being added to the book of the guilty (& be open for spirit of vengeance invasions)?
Do I have to kill him first before his treasure chest appears (the one with his armor and Logan catalyst)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I wouldn't think so because when you finally kill him in Seath's room he has completely hollowed out making him a regular undead, well a regular undead that's good at magic.

When he hollowed, you aren't committing a sin.

95% sure you need to kill him before getting his items.

Yes, absolving your sins prevent the darkmoonblades from coming to your doorstep.

Nope, you don't have to kill him in order to get most of his set and his catalyst, just purchase all his spells, confirm that he has gone insane and then reload the game. But you DO have to kill him to get the hat, the spell and the other catalyst.

    Thanks everyone!
    Appreciate the guidance!

Another question though: how about Lautrec?
I assume I'll have sinned if I kick him off the ledge at firelink, is that correct?
How about if I invade/kill him with the black eye orb? Would that be considered sinning?

I'd think when you're invading him you won't be sinning since you are working as a Spirit of Vengeance in that situation. I'd think that if you kick him off of the ledge though that is committing a sin since you aren't a spirit of vengeance.

Also some sin from what I've seen doesn't go away. I think the only thing I've heard of is if you are indicted the sin from that indictment can't be cleansed by Oswald.

I got away sin-free once after kicking lautrec off, but it could be a bug (haven't looked into it). Killing him when you invade with the black eye orb does not make you a sinner.
On the other hand, killing Priscilla will make you a sinner, I'm not sure if this is permanent or absolvable sin.

Same thing happened to me. I kicked him off the ledge at Firelink, and it did not count as a sin.

The book of the guilty doesn't determine whether or not you can be invaded by a darkmoon, it's only a tally for darkwraiths on the number of indictments they have. At least this is the way it worked during the 1.04 patch, not sure about the most current one.

The best way to see if you are a sinner is to check with Oswald, I would say.

    Does Logan go Hollow?

I think you'll find he doesn't, but simply goes doolally.

Either way killing him will not make you sin, and so feel free to crucify his skinny butt! twisted

Logan goes crazy, not hollow. All NPCs that go holow have the looks of a hollow, just look at their faces, they will look like beef jerky. Logan looks normal, it's hard to miss, since he's naked, so he just went nuts.

I don't think so. Those NPCs are initially hostile to you if you're not in the forest covenant. If you are in the covenant, that may be a different story.

Killing a hollowed (crazy and hostile without provocation) NPC does not result in sin. Absolving your sin will remove ALL sin except for sin from indictments (happens after you invade someone as a red phantom and kill them) or killing Dark Sun Gwyndolin or the princess that gives you the lordvessel. ALL sin is absolved on the start of a new playthrough unless you utilize the bottomless box glitch.

I have yet to fight Logan, never turns up although strangely I have a Big Hat in my inventory. Maybe he saw me, threw his hat in the air and scarpered.
