Demon's Souls Online -- Help Needed

I finally got around to setting my PS3 up to my wireless, so I decided to put Demon's Souls back in and make a new character, co-oping as much of the game as possible.

Seeing lots of signs and player shadows, but I'm in front of the... DeS version of Iron Golem, there are signs that say, "You can summon here," but not only do I not see signs (no surprise), I also can't put my own sign down.

Do I need to do something else before I can summon or be summoned in this game?

Don't take offence if this seems like a stupid question but do you know how the summoning works in DeS?

You have to be in human form to summon (and in area where boss is alive) and in soul form to be summoned etc.

Apart from that the only issue are SL range and lack of activity on the server. At Tower Knight you should be at a pretty low SL, I'd suggest no higher than 20 to ensure you're within co-op range.

Try to pre-arrange co-op with a friend or someone on here. You'll avoid wasting a lot of time waiting around that way.

That's what I thought, it's just like Dark Souls, right? I must be having some other kind of problem, because it sounds like I should at least be able to lay down my sign, but the option is greyed out.

Thanks for the offer, Myztyrio. I don't need help, really, I'm just hoping to do some random co-op/invasions to see if it'll spark a little more interest in the game for me.

Yeah the difference between human and souls form is not quite as obvious as the difference between human and hollow but if you're in soul form, online and using the right stone then the only possible problem is that you're trying to put the sign in a place where you can't i.e. in an actual boss area as opposed to just before the fog gate etc.

My health bar is full, so I'm definitely human. *edit* Hang on... soul form? I'm supposed to NOT be human to lay down my sign?

Also, I was just outside the fog gate; I could peek through and see the big fellow in there. I'm gonna go back to it tonight and see if anything's different.

*SECOND EDIT* So sorry, DMC, I misread your earlier post! Thanks for re-stating it as it finally sunk into the quagmire of my brain. Have to be in soul form to be summoned. Got it. So this means everything's okay, and I just didn't see any signs 'cause no one was around... at least not in my range.
