invading as a darkmoon, should i allow them to PLAY THE GAME?

What i'm talking about here is this, i invaded someone as a darkmoon. All the mobs dead, so i keep moving through the world all dead still. Obviously it's someone trying to either farm souls/humanity (in the DLC area) or trying to play the level and defeat the boss. I catch up to THEM. Him/her and 2 summons. 2 run off, and one stays to fend me off. Very good phantom. I kill him. I bow. I continue on. I somehow pass him and reach the fog gate. He and his/her last companion come towards it, turn and run. I catch one. Frantically flipping around,not sure to what avail. That one suicides after only a few attacks, unintentionally i believe from how it happened. Then i move on, look for the host. He dc'd, to the menu/black crystal or something i don't know. I got returned to my world. With not even a souvenir.

So, should i have laid off? Let him go for the boss? I am a darkmoon, so he was a sinner...i think my actions were justified but wanted to see what others do. If i was a darkwraith i'd probably have let him go peacefully instead of killing off his help. One at a time. Poor souls, had they ganked on me i'd have surely lost.

You are an invader. A crucial part of the game's mechanics and features.
It doesn't matter if you're Darkmoon, or Darkwraith, when you invade someone, you're there to kill them.

If you run into situations like you described, just Black Crystal to your world and let them be, that's completely up to you. Some people will agree, some will say, that they were noobs and deserved death.

You're role playing the game, it's not like the game forces you to do what it wants. That means, that as an invader, you don't have to kill the host at all. You can give him items, help him through the level, show him hidden areas and so on.

What you do is up to you and you alone and as such, you should do what you think is right.

I applaud to the phantom that stayed behind to stall you and protect his friends.

Just kill ALL the sinners, kill them all damn it don't even bow.

As a loyal servant of chaos i never expirienced the wrath of a Darkmoon Blade but i'm certain that Gwyndolin wants to see all sinners punished.
Or else Anor Londo might go dark forever.

I was a Darkmoon for awhile and the sinners must pay. But I wonder if the price is ever paid.

As a Darkmoon myself, I've always wondered this.
If I invade someone and kill him, I then get his ear.
So how come I get an ear as well when I happen to invade and kill the same guy more than twice?
I want other body parts as well.
Cutting off their arms will surely stop them from sinning. Could also cut legs for some trolling too. Or perhaps the most important body part, so he can never again raise his one handed skill while using binoculars.

Lol. This is great conversation. Honestly i didn't feel BAD for going after him, i felt regret not getting to kill the actual sinner, the host i was after. That first phantom was great, i did the best i could to acknowledge him. But i didn't want to kill the phantoms. Their lose i guess.

I've been a sunbro for awhile. But to many people wanted a ganker squad. I became a darkmoon and enjoy it. That buff is leathal. Although i still use sunlight blade if i need/can.

If i invade you. I'll usually kill you. If he was just trying to run the whole time. And to get to the gatel i'd have considered letting them pass....but, you sinned..your going to get a darkmoon buffed darksword (my choice, cosmetics more than function but its good. And some irony) to the face.

The whole purpose of this covenant is to kill sinners. So when you invade, your entire goal should be to kill the host. If that is upsetting to you, maybe this isn't the best covenant for you. The only time I don't kill the host is when they are at the fog gate. If I kill the host and they are obviously extremely new, I'll offer to coop with them to help them out. Otherwise, one of us is going to die: me or the host.

I just prove wrong the "sinner" thing. I got invaded by a dark moon when I was lvl 25 and hadn't done any PvP or killed any NPC and the player was light years over my level.

My opinion: Dark moons is a cowards covenant that is an excuse to invade lower levels, so they are the true sinners.

(I can almost smell the negative rep coming...)

Just remember that everyone you invade as a darkmoon is a sinner to some degree. A criminal. So bring em down.

Hey, I was a Darkmoon on the xbox and I wasn't too much of a douchebag (might become one if I invaded elsewhere outside of the burg or township. Give them the DKS feel for what an acutal invasion feels like rather than a duel).











....though I was in it because of all the blue stuff...moreso for the blue sword. Did anyone else join for the awesome blue sword?

i actually seek out darkmoons to cleanse me of sin before i try gravelording, because nothing is worse than being invaded by darkmoons while you're trying to spread the gift of misery. so kill on my darkmoon brothers.

A few people tend to contradict themselves...saying something about how your supposed to kill so i should, then saying when the only time they don't is. It's interesting... i'm clear on my view. If your trying to get to the boss. I'll let you. If your just farming, i'll kill you. Sometimes you can't tell forsureor the host doesn't allow you to let them live. Personally i just felt bad for the phantoms. Side note, i think if the phantoms in the host world have sin, you should still get a souvenir for their kill too.

Also, not to start a console war. (Dangerous words, i know) but seems like xbox tends to have the more...unfriendly players. I've been slaughtered on ps3. And the guy sends me tips. Friendly not sarcastic. I've made a couple dozen psn friends, even ones i kill. One guy/girl speaks nothing but Japanese. We message from time to time. Its nonesense to me, but still. The friendlyness of it. Its like psn is the sunbros club.

Anyway. I'm invading away. I feel that darkmoon is the most interesting covenant to play next to sunbros. My 2 main played characters are a sunbro or darkmoon. Love the contrasts.

Naaa just like any other clan... good and bad players.

But by lore i believe darkmoons to be the greatest clan.

From my experience Xbox has terrible community. So much I actually dropped my Gold and play online only on PS3. If nothing else, I save the money I would have to spend on Gold, and my nerves.

Xbox has great community and great players too as much as the PS3 I believe, the community is not the issue here.
Dark Moons can invade lower levels on both consoles.

As a veteran of DkS on both consoles I don't think you're entirely wrong. Although I wouldn't describe it as "unfriendly" vs "friendly". I just find that you find more people on Xbox who have a win-at-all-costs attitude. Not to say there aren't some great people...there are. But this was a MP console that was born out of the fires that monster cheat-fest franchise, Halo. Sportsmanship doesn't really factor into that legacy.

These are just generalizations, but I see the Sony crowd as one that comes from the tradition of RPG's, where community has always been as important at the game itself. That was evident the first time I met some of these vets in the old Demon's Souls boards.

I certainly don't pit one console against the other. I have friends on both. But the approach each community takes to the game certainly has tangible differences.

And of course, there are always exceptions. I was playing a low level coop session on PS3 last night (in the Parish). Got summoned, and most of the enemies were dead. I trotted along, assuming we were just going to take out the gargoyles. Not even realizing the host had already been invaded, I stepped through the door threshold leading to the usual mob location, and the Darkwraith hit Firestorm from where he was hidden to the right of the doorway. Never really even saw him coming. For a minute I thought I was on Xbox!
