You know what would make the new DkS great?

They go through all this stuff wher the new director is the MH guy, and its marketed as more accessible and stuff

Sp you buy the game, walk through the first area, no real enemies, you're all pissed its too easy.

Walk through the first fog gate and you encounter a troll. Expecting it to be easy you go in swinging

And you hit it for 1 damage, and it has 10k health

And then it one shots you, no matter your armour

And as the you died screen comes up Miyazakai's face pops up laughing at you

And it turns out he was the director all along, and the game is 10x harder than DkS

Its going to be my last Game, so From...please dont screw this up

Again, Myzaki is still there just to check development is going smoothly and that everything is in line. At no point did they say they were making it easier, in fact several articles say that they wanted to keep the game challenging but make it accessible. Likely meaning that all players can explore all the primary features of the game, meaning I think that in order to find a decent build, item or covenant doesn't require having to go to a wiki. Personally I'm more than happy for clues and such to be in the game that indicate but not reveal possible secrets rather than just leaving it to people being expected to google it, not every player wants to google something or even use online. (For example I can't use Xbox Live because I don't have gold, but as a result my Xbox copy is pretty much without invasions, summons or even signs left by players.) So I'm perfectly happy for more accessibility to content if it means that in order to actually uncover something I don't need to alt-tab to my browser ever few minutes so I don't mess something up or miss a vital shortcut that in Dark Souls would've been missed entirely if it were not for orange signs or wikis pointing out its locaiton.

Anyone noticed the dragon had a third eye?

Think Kalameets had any existing decendents, and they're returning back to lordran?

P.S. I understand Kalameet had 1 eye but, weird how this dragon has 3 eyes.

So serfing around Facebook, distracted from work, then BAM! this appears in my newsfeed. I literally thought I'd lost it.
    Although:
'Built upon the foundation established by Souls series creator and
Dark Souls II Supervisor, Hidetaka Miyazaki with development helmed by
    FromSoftware Director Tomohiro Shibuya'

Am concerned that Miyazaki is not heading development, get the feeling he did not want this game to come judging by this and the interviews he got booted upstairs so it could happen.

I am tempted to boycott the series and stick to the BG:EE that Nat is getting me for christmas! bounce

The comments already made by the new directors and the video raise deep concern for me. You could immediately tell it was under new direction from the video and, while it looked pretty, this feels despairingly like it's being pushed out as a quick money grab on the back of Dark Souls success. I'm hopeful that Miyazaki still having some involvement will mean this franchise isn't tampered with to its detriment but...I dunno.

I have always felt the souls games worked so well because they were stand alone universes, rich in lore and secrets that were waiting to be unearthed if you just dug deep enough. And they've created a wonderful community because of that. I've never felt a sequel or prequel was needed to either game.

I sincerely hope I'm proved wrong in the coming months. I desperately want to be excited by this news but at the moment I'm just full of worry sad

Something odd just occurred to me, with this 'new hero' evidently by the voice over in the trailer choose the Dark ending. Doesn't that mean that choice at the end of Dark Souls made zero difference? Although I was indifferent about the ending anyway since we didn't know the impact of it, welp we will see in the next game won't we? Keheheheheheh....
Unless of course it is a prequel, then that numbering is on Star Wars levels of confusion.

I don't want to judge a book by a cover

It's the thing I hate about announcement trailers is they usually don't show gameplay or actual enviorment. Taking Dark Souls announcement trailer and comparing it to this one everything in my mind is just screaming wrong.

In general though theres a lot to be worried and to be excited for since we are pretty in the "Dark" about anything related to Dark Souls II until the following months. Time to play the waiting game and see.

But goddamnit, It's going to be hard to avoid seeing any news related stuff about this game cause I just wanna go Pay it off right now and be done with it til it comes out.

I personally am the sort of person who likes to be
more direct than subtle, [Dark Souls II] will be more straightforward
and more understandable.” We sympathise if that sort of statement
concerns you, but at the same time, we can surely agree that we would
all like to see Dark Souls attain as great a presence as The Elder
Scrolls. How it gets there is a worthy matter for debate, but it’s
    certainly a noble task.

    says Tomohiro Shibuy.
This is getting me really disappointed.

so miyazaki is not directing? hes only supervising? poo. i LOVE monster hunter and hopefully he's gonna make it as hard as monster hunter on the psp(which is way harder than the souls series). still, kinda disappointed.

I personally love the concept how lore is hidden and it actually requires some level of research to find out about it. And it also demands patience and intrest from the player to bother doing it.

Therefore it's sad news for me too that they want to make it more accessible for the average player. But then again, gaming companies have to think about profits and growing too, so what would be a better way than this?

From what I've read so far it seems like the difficulty will persist, maybe even increase, but that the story will become a bit more standardized? Bah, I'll reserve judgement until the game is in my hands. Fromsoft is full of uber-trolls, and I don't know what to believe. Whether it's in-game or in the real world they seem to get a kick out of screwing with us. (Not that we don't enjoy it.)

To keep a clear head, Shibuya didn't say anything about Elder Scrolls, it was EDGE Magazine wishing DkS2 to become, in terms of a wider mainstream presence and easier accessibility.
Still, a Souls game without Miyazaki directing is definitely a bit worrying.

Looks really rather cool doesn't it. That dude taking all the arrows went out like a complete boss - I believe it's known in the trade as 'Doing a Boromir'. I love how he stabbed a man in the chin so hard his sword shot out of his eye.

Also, really, please, honestly, folks - wait and see. Saying 'We want to sell as many copies as Skyrim!' in slightly less direct language is hardly cause to collectively slash our wrists. Any games studio not making this statement is essentially mad. Not 'run by Peter Molyneux' mad, but who wouldn't want to sell as many copies as Skyrim? You'd have to be mental. Plus Skyrim was pretty fantastic in a very different way despite the disappointing combat and endless copy/paste caves full of zombies.

Ultimately, if Dark Souls showed us, and more importantly the games industry, anything at all, it's that there is a strong, vibrant market out there for games of this type with a subtle story, amazing combat and a rock hard but (almost) always 'fair' level of difficulty. The fact that Dark Souls sold well made the fantastic DLC possible. It also made a game featuring an ACTUAL CHARACTER called 'Marvelous Chester' a reality, and if that's not evidence of the true power of economics being a good thing I'm not sure what is. Now, that success building on success has made a sequel possible. I am excite.

My point is, Dark Souls 2 being aimed at a wider audience does not automatically mean it will be re imagined as an FPS where you follow an NPC down scripted corridors and he shoots a lot of non-white people for you.

TLDR: Cookies are much better baked with real butter than margarine.

I think he means in terms of popularity and renown, it doesn't state he wants it to be like the Elder Scrolls in terms of content , but rather in terms of franchise power hence that last line 'How it gets there..' I have faith in Tomohiro Shibuya he gave the world Monster Hunter and for that I am ever grateful. He would be my number one replacement for Miyazaki if I had the decision. I'm not going to judge anything until the gameplay is shown. People seem to be jumping the gun and raging before they've even seen anything in detail.
