    So the box in firelink shrine was closed and lootable... but for the life of me i cant remember what i picked up....it was an item i already had i know that.... any theories?

    I hear it's for recovering items that drop and lose that you need in order to complete the game, such as the Abyss ring or the lava ring. I think convent rings, like the cat ring and darkmoon ring are also subject to recovery by this method.

    Confirmed! I ditched some of these items to see if that was the case, and it is. You can actually sell a couple things to Frampt and it'll end up in the box as well.
