It's not really a big deal but..

I have to admit, the recent rise is Crest Shields being used bugs me. I've always been kinda proud that I was one of the few that used it, but now it's everywhere ._. .

its because all the dark magic spammers

I allways keep it as a quik swap shield when i see olacile ears flipping casters I use it otherwise just my balder +15

just do what I do no shields no parrying no breast plates no heavy armor no backstabs, and use any weapon or style you wish stun them poison them bleed them or even knockem of a cliff oh and master the kick and the silver pendant

Yeah, it definently is because of that. Don't get me wrong, I'm still gonna use it though. Still bugs me that it's the main shield now, despite that your guard is gonna get broken should you block them..

I was using Grass Crest exclusively until DLC, now I'm almost always using Crest. DB spam is troublesome as you can't always evade and sometimes you just got the gut feeling that the latency wants to f*ck you up, so it's better to use shield, instead of roll.

Take it on a brighter side. That shield sucks against Pyromancy. :face:

whenever I need to roll I make them roll first so they cant hit me I throw a dagger or use a soulmass dash at them or make them at least back up

I'd been seeing it more and more to. If its not the crest. Its a talisman/catalyst combo. I'm not sure i am bothered by it or not. Its boring to see the same thing. But honestly since the patch, the "cookie cutter" equipment has faded away. Tactics are lame. Spam dark magic. Wrath. Spam dark magic. It's compatible but annoying. The shield...i understand. I have a few choice weapons i like to see. And i lose due to that sometimes, but when i see someone else with it i am upset, or i find a kindred spirit. Look at it that way. You've found someone you can bond with. Now go crush his/her poise and make them suffer

It is my main shield too. But, I keep the Heater, grass, crest, dragon crest, and blood shield as backups. I have the Dragoncrest ready to rapid swap if my opponent has pyro.

If it makes you feel any better I've been using the Stone GS instead. The Crest just doesn't provide enough stability for my tank. I like to be unmovable

That's pretty much why I don't use it. I tried to block a Dark Bead with it once, because I'd seen everyone talking about it, and it ended up breaking through the stability really fast and I just took the rest of the hits. The Great Shields handle them a lot more solidly.

Exactly ._. EVERYONE! Advertise the awesomness of Greatshields so we Crest Shield users can be unique again!

do what i do, no shields, no parry, no breast plates, no heavy armor, no backstabs, no weapons, no boots, no gloves, no rings, no anything. i dont even load the game.

its not ment to block pursuers, but blocking Dark bead from a distance when only 1-2 orbs hit is useful.

I must say that shields were not high up my list. Dark Magic is inded getting popular, though. Doesn't help how tge pursurs and shotgun is highly dangerous... I like how no one uses Dark Mist, though I must admit it is a tad but bleh... I think it may do more poison damage, though.

Anyways, Crest Shield. I am interested in seeing that none use the Astora Straight Sword. High divine bonus, with a C scale for all... Would be good when the player rises in level. Aw well



The crest shield always bothered me, because I don't look at the fromt of it; I look at the back. And I see how thin it is, with the wooden blocks where the handle is... Its a turn off for me.

That's just me, though. Not much of a shield fan, anyways.

i've been using the dark hand recently, never tried it out before now, i never noticed that is has the same magic defense and fire defense as the crest and dragon crest shields. i've been enjoying watching the panic in a caster or pyromancer as i negate their A game with the dark hand. it's not so good against dark magic though, so dodging is a must. still, the dark hand might be under-rated?

No shields, duel wield. Fast roll all day long.

I just prefer something large

Most weapons will destroy your stamina and Black Flame may just break your guard in one hit.

It's good to use, I'm not saying otherwise, but it's situational.

oh yeah, no doubt any type of dark magic will destroy me, which is why i try to dodge them, if i'm able. but it shocked me when i blocked a crystal soul spear with it and came out of it relatively okay. i think it shocked the sorcerer too.

Tower Kite Shield +15 FTW!

heater shield or silver knight shield are great. you could always use a bone wheel if you wanted to be special.

Actually I use the black knight shield, but a bone wheel shield would be cool if I got one.
What about the greatshield of artorias though? I hardly ever see it even though it cancels all status effects from attacks it blocks.
