Countering and slaying Dark magic users.

Post by EeAyEss on Fri Dec 07, 2012 8:44 am

Alright. I've seen many people ***** about dark magic. I am one of those people.

But there is nothing I can do about what I consider to be OP.

What do I do? I find ways to counter and slay the dark magic users.

It's really all we can do. SO. What are strategies you all have found to be generally effective? I have found:

    Rolling through dark bead.
    Silver Pendant.
    bs punishing pursuers.

What I really want to find out is how to combat *full giants dark magic poise tank* I utterly fail. No joke. I can't tell what the armor is from far away and i run up, dodge the first bead, then get a blow in, see 220 dmg pop up over their head, and then get my head blown off.

    You get the classic options.
    1. Roll bs punish them (use Hornet for extra annoyance to them).
    2. Block/evade their spam until they run out of casts. It may take a while, so be patient.
    3. VoS/DMB and laugh at them while you slash them like a murderer.
    4. Since they can't have ninja flippin' no more, they're slow. Keep distance, equip some nice bow and as soon as they even move their annoying catalyst...BOOM HEADSHOT. Or use Greatbow for extra annoyance. Nobody likes to get thrown around like a ragdoll, especially in big, fat armor.

Good idea. I love the murderer part. Especially the thought of hacking away relentlessly as my darksword murders them... muhahahahaha

Str can block it with Havel's.
Dex can evade it and roll bs punish.

    People tend to say here:
"But, my DB does a good damage through shield."
That may be true, but who gives a damn, I'll just heal it up.
Don't like healing? Well I don't like spellspamming.
    Problem solved.

I wonder what people did against Strong Magic Shield users, if they can't handle DB...

I'm not sure what will SMS do... I never tried it as it lasts for a very little period of time.
Normal MB is pointless, it will still do a lot of damage. GMB is another story, but you will still get some damage, as Dark Magic is partially physical.

Emergence is running tests on it atm.

Let's say that Dark Magic is 50/50 Magical and Physical.
For better idea let's say a full hit will do 1000 damage (I know it will do more, but I want to ket it simple as I suck at explaining things).
That damage is split in half and DMB will reduce up to 90% from only one of them.

You get 500 Mag Dmg -90% from GMB = 50 Mag Dmg+ 500 Phy Dmg.
So instead of 1000 Dmg, you get 550 Dmg.

    Now that sucks!

It all depends on the ratio of Mag to Phy in Dark Magic. I suspect it to be around 75/25, or 80/20 as 50/50 seems a bit too much to me, but who knows. I'll rather wait for the science team to finish their job.

At 99 strength and 99 int Great Magic Barrior reduced exactly 66% of the damage. So 600 becomes 200.

I have yet to get to use any magic barrier against it. They never let me cast it, go figure. Bow shots seem to work if your quick enough. Greatbow stops them dead. Literally. They either tank, or have no armor. So its a win win. Bows=anti-darkmagic.
