Well I was thinking about using a fast attacking melee weapon and then a bow as my secondary. I was looking at the classes and the Hunter seemed pretty cool.

    On a note, where to start is sprint down from the landing in firelink to the lift - take that down and grab the Estoc. I presume you have the master key so you could now sprint through the valley of the Drakes to reach the darkroot garden - you may pick up the Red tearstone ring on your way. Now you can go to the Undead parish and take the lift down to firelink again - now you're in the undead parish you may wish to farm the Balder side sword and enough money to rank it up - a different option would be to farm enough then go and kill the gargoyles and use their soul reward to purchase the Darkroot garden seal. Now you can join the forest hunters and purchase the uchigatana at a later point rather than killing the undead merchant etc;

DON'T use daggers, start off as a wanderer and get the magnificent scimitar
never raise your Dex over 40 (thats the point of diminishing returns this applies for all stats except magic because there's a spell that everyone loves to use)
raise your endurance because you WILL need medium armor and A LOT of stamina (yet again never over 40 especially on a dex build)
get a flachion ASAP its like a scmitar but slightly better damage and a better range
find out if you want to buff. if you do go for a falchion all the way if not use the gold tracer (if you have the DLC) if not try the painting guardian sword or the balder side sword (both require a little farming)
keep the fast roll if you can its so valuable in both PVP and PVE
hope some of this helped ^_^

the other builds are GREAT bus as you are new take this instead as it has a lower risk per hit. an experienced player could wipe the floor with those other ones but a beginner would be lucky to get a hit in. pyromancy is good because everyone is backing the crest shield and its fire defense is pitiful.
this has bleed too. enough hits and a chunk of HP is gone EVEN behind a shield (1 exception the great shield of atorus)

The best advice i would give you is to do NOT underestimate any enemy is this game. And yes that includes the first hollow dudes, they can brutally kill you when you don't know it...

heres another one (Dex is my forte) its a bit of a point shaver build BUT it will do beautiful damage and gives your build a bit of spice. poise AND a nice bloated head (if you can get one)

spears allow you to attack from behind a shield, while quite hard to master this build could become Massively destructive if you practice enough

maybe for a shield you like but as long as it is at 10 you have access to the best mid shields available as a beginer, leave it

Yeah.. give a newbie a full build, that'll make him learn :|

My advice, is use either curved swords or katanas if you wanna make a nice dex character, i've never liked rapiers but they're another good option.

For armour i'd suggest a mixture between mediumish and light armour, if you hit the 15-20 poise mark you'll be okay for most things in your pve game.

You will have to increase strength to minimum requirements to use weapons, but most are definitely worth the investment

Try not to level any stat above 40 as it's sorta pointless, at your stage you don't need to know the specifics but thats a rough guideline.

Good luck with your adventure big grin
