Skyrim-New Content
Just watched the trailer for the new dlc 'Dragonborn' and all I can say is 'oooh-me wants it'. It's set on an island with a hot desert area as well as the usual frozen nordic stuff, new enemies and you can actually ride dragons, although this, according to the review I read on gamecentral@metro.co.uk is not the best bit. It also adds about thirty extra hours of gameplay. What's not to like?

Re: Skyrim-New Content
I've yet to download any Skyrim DLCs...should I?
I could use some casual moment in gaming every now and then.

Nope, it's for PS3 and PC too.
I haven't downloaded any expansions for Skyrim either so far because the first two didn't appeal to me and didn't get very good reviews but this one has had a good review so I will get it.

Nice of them to make an expansion pandering to Morrowind fans. Almost tempted to get the game just to play it, despite the rest of Skyrim being of no interest to me whatsoever.

It's already released for Xbox 360, but for PC and PS3 it will come out in 2013.

Wow, I'm surprised Dragonborn will be released on the PS3. Unfortunatly there's a chance none of the other DLCs will be released for it.

Re: Skyrim-New Content
Lol this is how i see it:
When making the dlc's they based them(2 different teams worked on the 2 dlc's at the same time) on the xbox platform thinking that the dlc can be ported to ps3 with ease in the moth of delay, they however didn't take the normal-blueray thing in account and the porting the dlc failed. They took a calculated risk and instead of focusing to get DG and HF on ps3 they decaded to focus on future dlc's blaming blueray for being the pure couse of this problem. Conclusion F you Bethesda F you in the A for being lazy.

This ^ my friend was playing through it and the Morrowind references are the only time I've actually been into or interested in the game. The nostalgia was almost too much.Rarayn wrote:Nice of them to make an expansion pandering to Morrowind fans. Nearly all multiplatform games are coded first for the Xbox. As PC and xbox are coded extremely similarly (read: Made by Microsoft), while the PS3 is a lot harder to code for due to it's hardware. Also as Xbox generally considered weakest, it's a safe bet to build from the weakest up.
I have no Idea what you are on about here.Rin wrote:they however didn't take the normal-blueray thing in account and the porting the dlc failed. The problem with the PS3 has absolutely nothing to do with bluray, it's that the PS3 can only use half it's RAM for games and so it can't play the game at decent FPS whilst using the DLC. This was the same problem that made the game horribly laggy on PS3 if your save file got too big.
Once the DLC is added it takes up some of the RAM and there just isn't enough left to play the game decently. Hence why they've been co-working with Sony to make a workaround.
Kinda unneeded :roll:Rin wrote:Conclusion F you Bethesda F you in the A for being lazy.

Re: Skyrim-New Content
No most multiplatform games get based on the xbox because good ol Billy Gates buys them out... 2X Blu-Ray drive is much slower than 12X DVD drive. For games which stream data, that's bad. Also if the first dlc was too much in what is the new one different. Bethesda first, like other before them 'sold' their most well known title to Mr. Gates they also failed to bring the dlc to the ps3 fans so yes its kinda needed.

Seriously dude? :roll:Rin wrote:No most multiplatform games get based on the xbox because good ol Billy Gates buys them out...
So you're saying then that every single PS3 game can't be run without being installed to the HDD then?Rin wrote:2X Blu-Ray drive is much slower than 12X DVD drive. For games which stream data, that's bad.
No dude, it's the PS3's RAM and the way they use it for skyrim, especially the save file because it's a persistent world.
So you think ever DLC is going to have the same requirements and effect on the system? No.Rin wrote:Also if the first dlc was too much in what is the new one different.
No they didn't "sell" their game to anyone(You might want to try learn about Bill Gates, cause he sure as hell wouldn't care to buy it. Nor is he CEO anymore). What they did is have one month exclusivity to Xbox, which kinda sucks for PC and PS3. But that's got nothing to do with the delay now anyway.Rin wrote:Bethesda first, like other before them 'sold' their most well known title to Mr. Gates they also failed to bring the dlc to the ps3 fans so yes its kinda needed.
It does suck that PS3 hasn't got it, but they are still working on it. When they could of just given up. So calling people that are trying to fix it lazy, isn't going to help anyone and is pretty disrespectful when you don't know anything about them.

Re: Skyrim-New Content
Not to mention the delays could theoretically lead to the PS3 getting a cleaner version, if bugs are found early on in the Xbox release they could possibly remove them from the PS3 version before they could be patched on the Xbox.

Re: Skyrim-New Content
Yup very true, I would expect it to be far less buggy.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if the price is drastically reduced or even made free due to the time it has taken for them to get it fixed, and that would be an easy way to try win back some good will with PS3 customers.

Some people bought it not knowing it was broken (like the very first buyers). Others heard about it being broken and avoided it (like me).
The question is... How in the world does a bug this big get past quality control!? They do have people that test games, right?

Re: Skyrim-New Content
Yeh i know that one of the problems is that the PS3 doesn't have enough RAM to handle the base game, plus a save file with lots of stuff in it (increasing as you play the game), plus DLC so stfu about the RAM as its not the only thing stopping the dlc's from being released on the ps3. I also know different dlc's have different requirements but if the ps3 cant run skyrim properly after the gamesave files surpass 5MB how will it run any bigger dlc's. And no im not saying that the 2X Blu-Ray drive requires every game to be installed im saying its bad for huge open world games like skyrim and that its one of the problems together with RAM.
