by sparkly-twinkly-lizard Sun Dec 02, 2012 10:49 pmi just joined the dark wraiths and deided to bump off rheas guards and try out my dark hand.... once rhea was alone... the firelink shrine audio began to loop three notes repeatedly and all exits out of firelink were replaced with gaping holes in the map... the everything started being de-rendered... so i tried to homeward bone... black screen.... i try to quit out... after 2 minutes the ps3 shutsdown and beeps at me when i turn it back on it can no longer play any discs, blu-ray, dvd, game discs doesn't matter nothing works, we've tried unplugging it and resetting things but to no avail....

Give it some time, turn on the PS3, and update your system software, hopefully that will fix any software issues, if the problem persists, then it's a hardware problem meaning you're ***.

its a hardware issue... so iguess a new ps3 will be my christmas gift.

If your only issue it's reading things with the lector, then I suggest you buy and/or use Playstation Plus' "upload save game" feature. If it's just reading lectors, you can still upload your savegames to the cloud. Then in the new PS3 just log in with your account, and download the savegames.

What chizfreak said a million times. I lost my HDD once. Got ps+ afterwards. Lost to many save files. If your lucky though it may be fixable. The ps3 can like...it can backlog sometimes i guess. I don't know the technicals of it. But call support they will walk you through a refirbishing mode so to speak. Maybe you'll get lucky. It's basically a system reset to factory if i remember right. It worked for me, but you lose ALL your data. Screenshots. Music. All of it.

we have 4 master accounts each with about 200 to 400 hours of dks play time, ps+ only works for one master account and its sub accounts, we'd have to shell out 200$ to move all the data, anyway weve sent the ps3 to a local repair shop and it'll be back in a week... the save data looks to have been corrupted anyway so i guess i'll make a new character if my files don't survive.

there is a back-up to an eternal drive feature, it takes alot of time but backs up everything on your HDD.
