The way I see it is that this pendant gets extra dialogue or is given to comfort someone (NPC) just before they die. It would make sense to be able to give it to Oscar, Solaire, Shiva (He is a great traveler but doesn't die), or Seigmeyer seeing as his own daughter can kill him in one of the endings.

^ Speaking of the Pendant, has anyone tried to give it to Sieglinde at the end of their path in Ash Lake? She's very troubled at that point, maybe it could be of use...

I have spoken to schlindia with the pendant in my inventory at the scene in ash lake where she has been forced to kill her father. Nothing out of the ordinary to my knowledge. She gave me the slab and thanked me.

However I did not try dropping it or seeing if it can be used in her presence.

I can try this tomorrow if I get a chance to hop on...

You cant put multiple signs down. You can move it, but it makes the first one disappear.

There's multiple signs. So, that means there's multiple people up there, waiting to be summoned.. apparently.. silly

It'd be funny if the Pendant acted like what you had to do to summon Mew. Like there had to be a SPECIFIC way to act and then the Pendant would light up, and something wild would happen; a cutscene into the mind of an important NPC? :o

The soapstones and the orange messages above as in the ceiling of the lordvessel chamber is likely around frampts or in the ara of firelink shrine..

I have noticed in different area's signs that you can see through the ceilings.. or look like they are on the ceiling , when in fact they are on the floor of the level above you...

A lot of comments to waiver the faith.. don't be fooled, they just wish to jump our claim hopeing we give up this never ending search..

How ever an Idea did occur to me.. given that solaire was bugged up until just recently.. and if the director was saying that we might not find a use for the pendant after a few playthroughs...

it is entirely possible that solaires story will change if you save him in one playthrough and it carries over to the next...

with all the various npc's and covenants it would also seem likely that a strict series of events would have to transpire.

A different idea I have is to get all the npc's in firelink right up to the lordvessel opening the kiln..

    heres the thought process

Kill 4 kings, Ingrid the seal keeper will move to fire link

Kill Nito and Patches will move to firelink

    Now heres the guess work..

Kill the bed of chaos and by logic either the pyro trainer Quelaana will move to firelink, Shiva and guard if still alive

The only one that doesn't seem to follow is Kill Seath and big hat will move back to firelink..

Has anyone tried leaving big hat in the cage in Seaths.. then kill Seath.. any change in character story..

At 2 points Onion Knight Sr. is in firelink

at one point Onion Knight Jr is in firelink..

lastly in a way.. with so many npc's and alternate story lines.. like leave Lautrec locked up in jail.. or free him

Leave the npc merchants trapped instead of rescueing them...

what if you ignore reah in the catacombs.. the whole part is entirely optional..

The way to discover the secret is to throw out the guide, throw out the steps we are being somewhat directed to.. and turn the game on it's face and do everything different .. every playthrough switch it up to see if anything is different..

I haven't been able to not talk to Oscar, because I didn't get the keys from killing the Asylum Demon. This didn't happen on NG+, I'm on NG+++ now. And he will pretty much kills himself as soon as you leave him after getting the keys. (That might have to do with me killing the Asylum Demon first, dunno).

I tried a few fatal drop spots in Sen's Fortress with the Covenant of Artorias Ring, to no avail.

On the way to Gwynn, though, I noticed those nine vessel thing opposite the entrance to the Kiln. There are nine usable souls in the game. Has anyone ever got to that point with all of them in their inventory? I don't see this happening in early playthroughs, since people will use souls for weapons and Orstein and Smough will require two playthroughs to get.

opposite the lord vessel on the unreachable area there are 9 or 11 pots..

if you look at the top of the pillars near kaathe / frampt you'll see that they are the same pots.. which are unlit urns, or lamps, or light posts..

There is however another lordevssel above all the pots.. only 1.. you can see the difference in the markings on the base...

Leaving oswald alone will result in the slicing sound and him dying.. I believe..
at which point you will see a loot crystal with the keys..

I know saying no to him gives this result as well..

I am making a post or will update with all the alternate conversation and options for the npc's as well as the flow of npc arrival, disappearance, and when they go hollow...

    I noticed the other Lordvessel.

There are nine pots and nine usable boss souls. There might be a connection there.

I'll do some experimenting next playthrough, because I'll have to get Smough's soul then.

also im sure this is a common question but does anyone have a clue what the place is off the side of the graveyard in firelink?

it seems to be new londo at first but looking closer it looks much larger and im pretty sure new londo is in a cave.

to anyone with no idea what im talking about you can see a what looks like a town at the bottom of the cliff where the graveyard in firelink is (funny enough the binoculars are on a cliff overlooking it).

Anyway guys, just to let you know, i got pissed and start soul spearing kaathe and he left telling me that im no the choosen one but im still darkwaith so that doesnt count as a betrayal...

Now im going to try ringing the blighttown bell first... Wana see if going backwards happens something... Will let you know soon.

Btw... After i killed the 4 Kings, i went to the undead burg and as soon i got to the passage heading to the first bonfire, the dragon drop down in there, stay for 3 secs and fligth towards the sunlight altar.... Dont remember that happening in the other 2 playtroughs...

The other sorcerer teacher says something about Reah and how terrible it is that she has to go on this quest to the catacombs.

I didn't fully read it because I wanted to buy sorceries so I kept mashing A.

Oh and the next thing for you to do is to try and get... someone to stay in Firelink shrine. Or attempting to get Quelana to firelink.

Well, I got Patches, Logan, Laurentius, The Apprentice, Petrus, and I'm about to go get Ingward. I cannot get Onion head nor Daughter Onion in Firelink for I tested to see if you can have a good ending with them. Maybe the good ending happens if both are in Firelink at the same time. Quelana is gone already and I had to let Reah die in order to get a Pendant. So, I got a vast majority at Firelink but at the moment it is impossible until NG++++. Oh yeah, i also get what's his name. Domnall? Dohnam? The guy from the Depths.

I wonder, what about the guy at Sen's Fortress? Crestfallen Merchant. Anyone talk to him after filling the Lordvessel and see if he moves to Firelink? I know Anastacia has some things to say after filling it so he might to. Or has anyone talked to him after obtaining the Lordvessel?

    There are my ideas:
    1) It's already clear (for around 80%), that covenants don't affect the story. But what happens, if you end the game without beeing in any covenant at all?
    2) Perhaps something will happen when you kill EVERY NPC in this game, that can be killed.
    3) But perhaps it will also do something, when you kill every UNhollow NPC or every Firekeeper.
    4) Anastacia's can ressurect her. We find around 3 Firekeepers Souls. Perhaps they can ressurect someone too?
    5) Like I already said, you can see the fog gate from second bonfire in Sen's Fortress.
    6) In Anor Londo, when you first meet this nasty white demons, before them, you can see a small chapel , that is closed. For me, the door always looks some kind of strange...
    7) When I started the game, I saw an ''Hidden Wall Message'' in Asylum. The strangiest thing was, that when I attacked the wall, it had the sound of breakable wall...
    8) I heard Lizzard's Noise in Painte World. I also saw some messages in the space (like invisible bridge).
    9) I also know, that Valley of Drakes has invisible bridge. I saw message and shot in the space, this was a bridge.

    And now the craziest idea...
I think, someone here lives in Japan. You can call FS and ask them about Pendant. I know, it's stupid, but who knows...

And now my question. In the article about S&O stands, that ''you can see Smough in the intro''. I already watched intro for around three times, but I did'n see him...

I was also checking up on the NPCs in Firelink Shrine after each boss fight as soon as the game began.

    I went in this order:
    Taurus Demon
    Bell-Tower Gargoyles
    Capra Demon
    Moonlight Butterfly
    Stray Demon
    Gaping Dragon
    Quelag

I freed Lautrec and talked to him after each boss fight as soon as I freed him. After one of those bosses (forget which), he disappeared. Then, I killed the next one and he was back.

    Where did he go?

just now i got the Pendant while in the Forest hunters Covernant
    the text says this
    Pendant
this faintly warm medal, engraved with the symbol of the Sun, is the ultimate honor, awarded to shoe who summon the Warrior of the Sunlight and complete a goal.

The Symbol represents Lord Gwyn's firstborn, who lost his deity status and was expunged
from the annals. But the old God of War still watches closely over his warrios.

does everyone have the same text?
cos i dont read anything about lost memory

The description of the pendant is bugged in game to be the same as the Sunlight Medal's. The only way to get its true description is through choosing the pendant as a gift in the character creation screen.

Someone mention the 9 pots and the 9 useable souls...I like the idea but in order to get both Ornstein and Smough's soul you would have to play twice and the creator said MOST players would not encounter it on their first play through but he did not say that it was impossible. I don't think that the secret REQUIRES multiple playthroughs I think it is just something that is not LIKELY to be experience from the first play through.

Hmmmmm... Someone in the wiki said that the character in the game cover is Artorias because he is wielding his sword and shield...

Hmmmmm.... Did someone noticed that he is LEFT HANDEND? I dont know... Im crazy now about This pendant thing but anyone have tried wielding like that and get to sif or abyss?

In my more than "lost count" PVPs have never crossed with a LEFT one... Just an interesting tough... Maybe the secret was one the cover and is a way from FROM TO SLAP US ON THE FACE hahaha

Based on the perspective and position of his lifted foot, he's most likely walking away from the viewer, with his back towards us.

    http://game-flush.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Dark-Souls-Cover-Art1.jpg

Here. In the picture, you can see the bottom of his right foot is showing to us, and it's overlapping (from a 2D perspective) the left leg, which means from a 3D perspective, his right foot is closer to us than his left leg.

Hi guys, i came here from gamefaqs board (same name) where i had a few pendant and secret related discussion going, but people just troll the s... out of such threads there.
Anyway, i am surprised noone was as surprised as i am by 2 things in the dump i mentioned over there:
There is a "Way of White +3" in those files next to other covenants
And there is an action : "extinguish fire" !!!

And that wall in the painted world, i swear i saw it, maybe just a bug but this is the only place in the game i saw it.

I tried reaching those 9 pots. Tried jumping and on those giant three roots. Shot arrows everywhere to see what's solid and used a ton of prism stones. I even tried the jumping down with Covenant Ring of Artorias, but that didn't work.

I don't have all the souls yet but I'm pretty close to starting NG++++ or whatever playthrough I am, so I can just get to Anor Londo quickly and get Smough's.

I also tried using a boss souls down at Firelink Altar (the Moonlight Buttefly), but nothing happened xD But I don't have all the souls, once again.

I´m not sure if it has been allready mentionet but has anyone else noticed the door in the sky in Duke´s Archives? You can see it right after you get out area were you end up after the first encounter with Seath. You open the big door where the manserpents flee and walk outside.

BTW... In my actual research i got REAH to firelink an as soon as i saw her there i run to tomb of giants to see if we can prevent patches from dropping em down... but she was there too sad

Now I already rescued her, and ill see if something different happens from having here in dukes archives before killing seath...

Guys.... I thing i found something....

As already told i went to catacombs before getting the lordvessell to see if i could get patches not killing the reahs bodyguards, but she was already there.

I returned and reah was at the church... Then i went to speak to lautrect and he offered me a "tip" for 20k souls and i accepted... ( anyone else got This?)

He started telling me a history about reah and how she is full if humanity... And Then i spoke to him again and he saids something like. That tip? Oh, that tip was gave to me by an old man that isnt going to need all his trinkets now!!! Muahahahahha...

So i ran to reah and tried to steal all her humanity.... I was lvl 3 darkwaith but now i changed to way of white... For my surprise dark hand still works andi took 12 humanity from her!!!!!!

All This let me thinking... Did Someone already try to get her to dukes and 1. Steal humanity when she is hollowed or 2. confront her with a high humanity lvl?? Maybe thats the way to activate This.

It should be noted that there are a couple of things ive noticed in the game that have come to my attention:

#1: The temples within Lost Izalith have the Cloranthy ring flower inscribed on the floor. One of the temples (the one straight after the first Chaos Eater) very likely seems to have a path towards the left and swinging a sword/any long weapon kind of gets "swallowed" by the wall (which usually indicates a passage).

#2: A rooted passage in Lost Izalith really close to the entrance, you can clearly even see a passageway dropping down there, but the roots block the way. Killing Bed Of Chaos didnt affect this, anyone in more consecutive rounds can confirm this passage doesnt open?

#3: The "planked" passage in Lower Undead Burg, next to the burning corpse pile.

The first thing that springs into mind about the game is that the CE and "Limited Edition" artbooks show three enemy types that dont even show up in the game. A manticore, a boar riding minister and a suave looking crossbow user.

Its pretty obvious that the Manticore goes with the demon theme (Lost Izalith?) and the two others could very well be related with Anor Londo.

With point number 2, are you talking about where the shortcut opens between Lost Izalith and the Demon Ruins? On the Lost Izalith side, are there Sunlight Maggots?

Mereo re: All dark Souls Secrets... lots of spoilers..
    Mereo Dec 5, 2011 9:28 pm
No, right after you come into Lost Izalith via the small root that descends into the area with the statues, just to your right is a Dark, open passage with roots blocking it partially. If you use the skull/maggot/cast light you can see a passageway in there.

Okay, here's my theory on the nine cups, nine souls deal. Get the nine souls, place the lordvessel (doesn't matter who it is frampt or kaathe), get the lord's souls, do NOT place them in the Lordvessel. Instead go to the giant door in the centipede boss room and see if it opens up.

"You probably won't find it until your second or third play through."

Doesnt mean we *cant* get it in the first time through, so it can't be boss soul related.

Perhaps it has something to do with killing a certain enemy much earlier than intended (would be easier in NG+ with good equipment). Or maybe having a certain upgraded weapon using a slab that is hard to get.

    I haven't a friggin clue.

    Moonlight Butterfly

"You need to be sunbro rank 3 and then you need to save the sunbro, after that talk to the cleric in firelink, he asks you to kill patches who can be foud in sen´s where the 4 titanite demons are. After killing patches talk to cleric and he will reveal the secrets of the pendant. I´m not gonna spoil but you´ll be surprised..."

Don't know how much of that is true but I do know Patches hates Clerics. Worth a shot. Also, I heard the Petrus confesses to the murder of Rhea if you show him the Pendant. I tried that but nothing happened for me. Anyone else get something out of him?

It is way too late in the morning now but I thought up another idea. It involves Shiva and the black eye orb. What if you can only use one black eye orb per play through? Therefore, if everyone here invaded Lautrec first, like me, it might render the event with Shiva useless and unplayable until next play through.

Try Beating with game with Pendant
-Not using any boss or fireKeeper souls

-Only staying in either a good / neutral / evil
covenant throughout a single playthrough and choosing the final ending according to your choice.

(i know neutral is neutral but just had to incorporate it.

Maybe since we are the Furtive Pygmy's descendants ... we have to take back all Pygmy gave out...

I have not tried the Ring in the Tomb. Personally, I think that might be a glitch but I'll do it today.

And I think even picking up the Black Eye Orb for Lautrec will prevent Shiva's

And someone claimed to have seen a crouching NPC near the titanite Demon's in Sen's but they couldn't make it to them. Them Titanites are ruthless. It might be worth it seeing as there is one room that is seemingly pointless down there. Right below Logan's cage.

Hello, everyone. This post is huge and very interesting.
Among all the mysteries Dark Souls has I would like to know why was Rhea praying in front of the vases at Firelink Shrine?? Did someone try to use the "Chameleon" sorcery there and wait for about 30 seconds carrying the pendant?

Because it's a firekeeper. Reah's mission was to kindle the bonfires with the rite of kindling and the firekeeper keep the fires lit. She views them with a holy status or something and she was praying to the dead one because well, their dead and can no longer keep their fire lit.

but then why does the corpse disappear when reah does?

in my game when she arrived in dukes, the corpse in he chapel was gone ...

none of the other firekeeper bodies u get souls from disappear, minus the one u kill in Anor Londo.

its making believe that, that corpse is not a firekeeper only

    that makes no sense ...

in the intro video, it shows a corpse in the the ground being prayed over by a woman...

could it be the same corpse and Reah is moving it for protection?

or the fact it disappears when she is in Dukes, means she moved it there as well for Seathe?

she couldnt get the pendant to work..so seeked Seathe out.

    Could that corpse be Pygmy??

    just thoughts mind you

I have left the firekeeper corpse and soul in the parish, bought all of reah's stuff from her.. and she has moved on..

the corpse and fire keeper soul are still there...

I am just about done with leveling the forest hunters.. I have rank 3.. was trying to see if it could over rank or reach a maximum like with Kaathe will say very good, cannot donate anymore through humanity donations...

Someone asked for a sumarized list of what has and what hasn't been tried:

    I have tried the following.

I have said yes to Petrus when first meeting, he forces a coveneant join to learn spells..

I have said no to Petrus, and upon Reah's arrival will force covenant to sell you miracles.. when reah arrives he will sell to you without forcing a covenant join

Killing Patches right away as soon as you drop in Firelink, Reah's quest continues as normal, she just doesn't mention patches.

I have let patches live, told him I was a cleric, he became hostile and attacked me. reah's story continues as normal

I have Answered No to being a Cleric, and No to forgiving Patchings, he gives you a twin humanities as a I'm sorry, Reah's story seems to continue as normal. I will know when I unluck the dukes today.

I have said No to Enygi upon first arrival after killing Quelagg, he will not move over or ask again until you change zones, or kill a boss upon return then he will ask you again. Saying yes you are a new servant.

I have said no to all the np'c when they offer to teach you spells, they will offer again, or if you change your mind come back and ask me again.

All except Dusk, saying no to her when she offers to teach you magic, she is gone from the game for good.

I have not tried saying No to any of the onion knight quests.. thats my next playthrough.. still trying to get both of them alive at the end.

    as for the pendant..

I have tried to use it before every boss fight, on logan in seaths before he goes hollow and has lost his memory,

on reah in the parish when she says everyone she knows is dead.

    On the crestfallen warrior, merchants,

I have stood beside solaire in all his gear with the first born ring equiped and no change.

I have equiped the white sceance ring everywhere in conjunction with the maidens outfit, and white talisman

I have tried every spell on the gears, hit ever wall in the dukes and nothing.

When I go to see Seath this time I will be wearing all the way of the white gear and will try both being in Way of the white, and Princess guard to see if seath locks me up somewhere else..

Now some point of wisdom as it were

the pendant should provide a prompt like the black eye orb, it will be a item that should reveal it's useage just by having one in your inventory, it should be a passive item that will tell you when to use it.

Character creation Race, Sex and appearance should not effect the ability to find the secret, it will be equal opportunity for all..

Some outcomes that can influence it in my opinion are covenant rank, equipable appearnce ie shield, weapon, armor, etc.

everyone should be able to have access to what ever this mystery is based on the amount of time required and invested into making and leveling up a character.

The last idea might be gesture based like pray 50 times or 99 times at a statue..

talk to someone 50 to 99 times

I say 50 because in King's field you got a secret magic crystal - translate to dark souls as in a spell for talking to someone 50 times in a row.

It could be 99 because in Dark Souls 99 is the maximum of anything you can have, or rank for covenant...

quick jot down of idea's so don't bust me for grammer and spelling..

    Glyph is alive!

Hey, Glyph can you try my idea for Shiva as you appear to be closer than I? Only allowed one Black Eye Orb per playthrough. Try Shiva first instead if Lautrec. There also might be an order to it like Lautrec. I.e. go into Depths come out and the Firekeeper is dead. Something like that for Shiva and the Covenant.

I think I've found something that might be new.

I've been spending a lot of time seeing all the different conversations Quelan and Eingy have to say. (I don't have the exact words for everything, but I remember the general information so if you want it, just ask).

Anyway, Eingy has started asking for Quelana (the pyromancy vendor) and he said she might be one of the Chaos Witches and that if she was, she would make Quelan feel better.

The problem is I killed Quelana. >.>

If anyone has Eingy's trust and is rank 3 (that's when he started asking for her, could they go see Quelana and see if anything changes? It might be useful to have the Old Witch Ring equipped.

I'll be able to test this myself tomorrow on a new playthrogh. Just need to kill Seath and Gwynn, then I'll take the shortcut to Blighttown. I'll use the Old Witch Ring for Quelag too, but that won't make a difference, probably.

Hey digital.. this playthrough I have already killed Shiva.. so it will have to wait til my next..

I have rank 3 forest hunter and gonna go visit sif now.. and progress the game...

I also plan on keeping lautrecs back eye orb until the end.. if not taking it into new game next.. 7 I think..

see if it is like the abyss ring and you lose it each play.. .. or like a fire keeper soul, you can only have so many of them...

The discription of the Shiva black eye would make it a unique item as well.. like you can get 3 or 4 different fire keeper souls with the same discription, but they don't stack.. and you can get the anor londo and daughter of chaos souls..

basically if the Shiva black eye orb is in the game, having Lautrecs should not make a difference in wether you can carry it, it will have a unique item signiture within the game..

I'll be giving the full rank treatment to all the covenants and see if they're any change in anyones behavior as well.

GUYS. From the bonfire in the demon ruins (The one you get to from killing the Centipede thing NOT THE DEMON... the one that pops out of the wall the second bonfire.)

Has anyone worn the orange charred ring and jumped onto the lava path right near that bonfire?

It looks like there may be a little path that goes around but you need that ring. It could kill you instantly though because it isn't bright yellow/orange lava and just a deeper red. I'd really like to know if it does lead somewhere.

Once I get past the demon firesage and get to the centipede demon I can test it out :/

What's up everyone? Long time lurker obsessed with the idea of potentially uncovered secrets. I haven't read this entire thread carefully, it's too long, so I may repeat some already-covered topics.

1/ It bugs me that there's these pair of seance rings, and for one of them the word "seance" is significant and for one of them it's not. I've played through almost an entire playthrough with the white seance ring on, though, and found nothing, and I see others have tried that. It really bugs me, though.

2/ I feel like there's a high probability that if there is something secret and undiscovered, it has to do with the Painted World, because the Painted World is like layers of secrets deep. On top of that, the fact that the boss is non-hostile makes me suspicious. I had this whole theory that the tower in the Painted World and the spiral staircase into the sky was a reverse-parallel of the spiral staircase down into the abyss, but I couldn't figure anything out there (including taking a leap of faith to my death).

3/ I've got to get into my story theories here, I'll try to make this brief: I'm half-convinced that Kaathe is good and Gwyn is evil. I think the Four Kings have the dark soul of the Pygmy (since the other great lords we know have the non-dark souls by elimination), and that the flooding of New Londo was to contain the carrier of the Dark Soul. (And all the bodies are the human residents of New Londo, whom the Lords are basically a different race from and don't care about).

So it also occurs to me that maybe Priscilla is a half-breed child of a Lord and a human, and that's why she was banished and New Londo was flooded and the humans mostly slaughtered. (I thought the tail meant half-dragon, but if the Lords are afraid of humans they might have freaked out at a Lord/Human child). So again this points to Priscilla as possibly a key.

(Also the encouragement to harvest and kindle humanity seems to line up with this anti-human policy - and then the dark wraiths are potentially heroic in that they're trying to gather humanity precisely to stop it from being kindled. They're not trying to hoard it but preserve it...)

4/ The other thought (which is discouraging), is the long wait required at the raven's nest the first time you return to the asylum, and in the sarcophagus to join the covenant. This suggests any secret could necessitate a long wait somewhere and you'll never find it without knowing where it is, first.

Abour Priscilla.. She is half-dragon, which is weird to think about.

Why else would her dagger require Dragon Scales to upgrade?

Digital just wrote that Firekeeper souls can be kept through NG till ng+. Is there any limit to how many of these suckers you can stack? Possibly 9? If so, From might have spoken the truth in regards that we would not be able to unlock it in the first couple of playthroughs.

also something to point out for any of you that didn't play demon's souls: Patches the Hyena is the only NPC from the first game to appear in the second game. He acts as the same type of character in the first as well (he tricks you into some danger that yields an item you're glad you have despite the trouble). While there is not as much to support him being the key to this, I think it is interesting that FROM kept him in there and left out so many other amazing characters. (Snuggly would be the only other semi-recurring character) Also, someone earlier had asked about killing all NPC's..I did this at the end of my first playthrough to make sure I had all items and wouldn't have to piss anyone off in my next playthrough. Nothing special happened.

    Halicarnassis:
Lautrec escapes from his cell when you kill the gargoyles.

old__red: The Gaping Dragon is not the only boss fight for which you can summon two NPCs. If you free Lautrec before you fight the Gargoyles at the belfry his summon sign will appear before the fog leading to the roof. If you climb the first ladder and face away from it (turn around) there will be a ledge on the opposite side. You can walk-around the edge of the area to get to Lautrec's summon sign, which is clearly visible when you face away from the ladder. Both Lautrec and Solaire are available to help for both Gargoyles and Gaping Dragon.

I currently have all the available Fire Keeper souls on my main character. I also thought that these were significant in some way because several of them are unique, and they do not stack.

Anyway, I wanted to add something about an experience I had a few nights ago:

I was investigating the Shiva Black Eye Orb, so I took the Chaos Blade to him to see if he wolud respond. As other members have said here: nothing. I was 2nd rank in the Forest Covenant, and he never mentioned the blade to me while it was in my inventory or equipped at both the Forest location and Blighttown location.

I then went to kill Quelaag to see if he changed his tune (you need her dead to make the blade). No change.

I then went to join the Servants of Chaos, but thought before I should go I should get an egg-head before talking to Eingyi because I had not done that before. He always asks if you are a new servant, and then says "where are your eggs?" so I figured I'd preempt that. After getting an egg-head he strangely responded after I said "yes" to his question by saying "Bah, no bother, go and have an audience with our Fair Lady..." which was a new response for me.

Conversation with the Daughter of Chaos was the same with the ring equipped. However, I realized that I had never tried talking to Lost Quelaana with an egg-head and/or the witch ring, so I went to do that. Strangely, in another new response for me, she requested that we not talk about The Witch of Izalith because she fled from that place and left her sisters to put it behind her or something like that. She did not ask me to do her a favor and help release her sisters like she had in previous play-throughs, but I can still buy spells from her.

My Chaos Blade was only upgraded to +3, so it may still be that a +5 chaos blade is needed to trigger Shiva's response.

I have never been able to find Lautrec's summon sign, even after freeing him. I think I might have to leave the area and come back later for it to appear, after freeing him.

I haven't found it for the Gaping Dragon, either.

If anyone wants to save Solaire, this is how to do it:

Speak to him on the bridge near the red dragon.
(Summon him against Gargoyles; may be optional)
(Summon him against Gaping Dragon; may be optional)
Speak to him in Anor Londo, at the last bonfire.
(Summon him against Ornstein and Smough; may be optional).

He will next appear at the bonfire after the Centipede Demon. You can speak to him there, but do not proceed forward. Instead, use the shortcut to Lost Izalit and kill the bugs until you find the Sunlight Maggot. (You can do this first, then speak to him after the Centipede Boss room). Then go back to the shortcut and you'll find him there, sitting down. He won't attack if you did everything right. (You may have to enter Lost Izalith to make appear, but do so only AFTER you have found the Sunlight Maggot and spoken to him after the centipede demon.)

At some point, he appears at the Sunlight Altar, but I don't think it's necessary to speak to him here, because I didn't last playthrough and I still saved him.

I summoned Solaire against Gwynn and focused on keeping him alive. Nothing special happened.

I got a sunlight medal, but he lost his sunbro golden form and became normal for a few moments before disappearing.

Also, Solaire in the Gwynn fight is incredible. He makes it easy. I didn't even take damage the last time (except from te fire that gets through the shield.)

Okay this is quite tenuous, but I think that the trading the pendant for souvenir of reprisal is in itself a hint towards the pygmy.

How I interpret it, it's the player symbolically choosing to neglect his calling as descendant of pygmy and potential dark lord turn his favor towards continuing the age of fire as a tool of the 'Gods'

know its kinda bogus, but I thought was quite the interesting thought.

@neuromodulator: Theres a document that contains information within the game that was not included in the final version, including some items, their descriptions, and some characters and all of their dialogue.

Within it is more dialogue for Shiva, who seems entranced by a "Blade of Chaos" you seem to be holding, which could only be the Chaos Blade, seeing as its very similar in name, and its a Katana, so..

Anyway, he asks if he can have it, saying he has never seen a blade like it in his life. His reactions are similar to that of someone being drawn to serious power, like the One Ring. I believe if you say no, that he cannot have it, then he attempts to kill you. If he does, he will disappear, and you somehow will receive ANOTHER Black Eye Orb to search for him and get back your blade, similar to how you had to search for Lautrec after he kills Anastacia/Firelink Firekeeper.

Tiny update: With regards to the open chest behind where Frampt appears at the fire link shrine- I found that in addition to the rings we know will appear in the chest if dropped, I also had the Dragon Eye appear in the chest as well.

Was weird really, it appeared for me even though I was not, nor had ever been a member of the covenant. But I had just traded some stuff with a bud and he had given me a Dragon Head Stone as well as a Dragon Torso Stone. I guess the game assumed that since I had both stone, I needed the eye? A Glitch I'm assuming.

However... one of you guys that has a backed up save game, we might be able to experiment here. Drop all the **** in your inventory and see what appears in the box. Might give us a clue as to what is game-breaking-important, and what is not. SLIM, SLIM chance, I know, but I think were hitting that point...

Would be interesting to see if something like the White Seance Ring pops up in there...

I've been monitoring this thread and a few others in different sites along the same topic. One thing I don't think has been mentioned here is that several NPCs offer different dialogue if you are cursed. Someone should try doing a game run (as much as can be done) while cursed. You have access to the great hollow from the beginning of the game and can get cursed there. I'm back on to demon's Souls now, trying for my last two trophies needed to platinum, so I won't be able to do this for a little while.

Also, The nine urns. There are nine boss souls to collect. Anyone have All the boss souls in their inventory, including a gwyn's?

@Digital Just tried to Centipede Demon door and nothing. I'll return once I have the Lord Souls as well, but I tried hitting it with +15 Weapons, the Chaos Blade +5 (figuring there's a lot of talk about it, and if it's important enough for Shiva to steal, then maybe it does something), all to no avail. I didn't try any gestures, maybe I'll go back and try.

    But yeah, that's all.

Okay. I've finishing beating up Smough with his own hammer and have all the souls.

Tried a few simple things at Firelink Altar. No paths appeared, no ring worked.

I don't know what else I can do, except use all the souls down there or feed all the souls to Frampt. I might hit a few suspicious looking areas to see if anything has changed.

I'm hesitant to use my souls, since them will prevent any further tests. I have some spares which I could use, but unless there's an overt indication of something happening, they won't help much.

I'm also interested in the 'cursed' conversations and what the Firekeeper has to say when you unlock the Kiln. Guess I have some work to do.

On another note, I often see people wondering about Priscilla's mother. She might have been one of Seath's experiments, if she is related to him at all. (Sort of based on his own DNA or soul).

Xirmi, you mentioned feeding them to Frampt. I didn't realize this was an option. I wonder if anything can be gained from doing so, aside from the souls he offers, ie: feed him a soul and the corresponding urn lights up or something.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I have 2 souls for Quelag, Sif and the Iron Golem, so I'll see if changes anything.

I tried using a soul in the last playthrough in the Kiln, but nothing happened. I didn't have all the Souls, though.

    How about this:
Apparently you can max-out in a covenant; I've heard a message appears when you give so many materials that you get a "well done" message or something on your screen. Has anybody maxed-out a covenant and checked to see if one of the urns is lit or changed?

I think maxed-out is even beyond rank +3, but I'm not sure because I have not done it myself.

The only problem with this theory is that we don't know how to rank-up in Princess Guard or Way of White, even though the text dump showed +3 for both of those covenant ranks.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up, but I've had a little thought about the four kings and whatever the hell they're doing down in the abyss.

Somewhere in the game, it mentions that they went down there by lord gwyn's orders. Also, their lord souls mentions how gwyn appeciated their foresight or something like that....

What I think might be going on is: the four kings went into the abyss to keep the descendant of the furtive pygmy from finding kaathe, and joining the darkstalkers. I'm assuming this is what it means when it mentions their foresight: the had known what was going to happen, informed gwyn, he asked them to protect the abyss, and in return gave them a piece of his soul.

Along those lines, is Artorias supposed to be heroic? Because everything in-game feels like he's supposed to be a hero, but some item text indicates his co-operation with the abyss denizens.

Artorias was one of Gwyn's Four Knights, so I am of the belief that he was heroic at some point.

I think he met Darkstalker Kaathe, though, and ended up making a covenant with the abyss (hence his ring.) His sword was also cursed because of that.

Guyra - The Black Dragon who is opposed to the White Dragon, "Seath."

Guyra broke a black crystal which controls the powers of nature.
(Seath battle you broke a white crystal)

He created the "Moonlight Sword" to make his chosen warriors fight for his revival.

Im going to try using the Moonlight Sword on Seath and the Eternal Dragon on a hunch..

I tried to kill the Everlasting Dragon. Tried a bunch of weapons and I tried hitting him many times, as I heard some secrets in older games developed/published by From Software were triggered by hitting things repeatedly. Nothing happened silly

I really hate how there's no information or talk option about that dragon.

Drooped his health bar down to 0, yet no death.

I have tried poison daggers and arrows, poison does not take effect at all.

I donated 250 humanity as a chaos servant in my first playthrough, out of curiosity, that was after reaching +3 which makes it about 330 humanity total. Nothing got lit at the altar.

The early prodction screens and videos had the red dragon above firelink. Probably as a deterrent to force players into another direction (and certain death) before trying to reach the undead burg. It was supposed to fall asleep after a while, so you could easily sneak by it. It was even a ladder there, leading up to the top of the bridge.
Firelink Shrine was alos different, with water around the bonfire. Anastacia was also sitting beside it, and not trapped below. Even the iron knight Tarkus was supposed to be there at some point.

You can check out the early screens and videos on the official site:

You mean like Seath's? The only reason he had a crystal was because he was trying to replicate the immortal dragon scales that he lacks. Clearly the Everlasting Dragon already has those scales.

As far as I know no one's editing it right now.

I tried earlier, but I couldnt think of what to include..

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of it's current format.

On another note: Has anyone tried using Sunlight Spear on the Everlasting Dragon? If Gwyn could tear them off, why cant we with his own weapon?

I don't like the format either, the game's lore would be pretty neat if it had a better format. Also are we allowed to use info on the posted threads in GameFAQs board about the lore? I mean I think it'll be easier picking it up from there and then just check off things from this thread. (of course I would ask the author first )

I need 10 more faith for Sunlight Spear. That's about 2 million souls away.

I want to edit the Lore page as well, but I do not know what to edit. There a lot of things that are 'under construction'. Are these being worked on by someone or what?

I'd also like to expand the info to relevant pages. For example, having some Lore information on Gwyn's boss page and such, not just gameplay information.

Obviously, this is a wiki, so I'm not sure if there's anyone in charge and working on things.

@Malaki-ps3: I've seen a Japanese dude beat the game in an hour and a half without dying.

    About the Lore section:

I'm noticing the covenant parts. I can expand Way of the White and I could also add some lore to its respective page, but I need to find all the relevant items. I remember some of them but the wiki doesn't have all item descriptions. These are the ones that refer to the undead cleric mission and general information about the church. There are probably more, but I don't know them all, so if anyone knows them, help me out:

    Rite of Kindling
Great Magic Barrier - says Havel was a Bishop, and I think Way of the White is the Church or part of it.
    Lloyd's Talisman
    Grant
    Crescent Axe
    Talisman/Canvas Talisman/Thorolund Talisman/Ivory Talisman
White Seance Ring - Confirms bishops to be part of the Way of the White
    Cleric starting set
    Cleric Set from Patches
    Paladin Set

There's also information from Reah and Petrus in conversations.

Chaos Servant will be very easy to update too, since I think the lore is based entirely on conversations which are available on Youtube. I don't think I have any items with info about it.

    About the Ash Lake Dragon:

I have tried using Sunlight Spear to kill it. I have also tried using sunlight spear, Chaos Storm, Gravelord Greatsword Dance, and White Dragon Breath consecutively, as someone suggested trying to mimic the defeat of the everlasting dragons form the prologue. I was wearing the Dusk Crown, using Logan's catalyst, Billowing Dragoncrest, and switched-out my rings for Princess & Sun's Firstborn to maximize damage when needed.

I also tried dressing as Gwyn and using Gwyn's Great Lord Greatsword to no avail. I fought that thing for a long time, often doing over 2,000 per bout (depleting his health bar completely) and over 50,000 damage total. He is seemingly immune to poison and toxic effects.

I have tried all the dragon weapons against him, normal and special attacks (except maybe the Dragon's Tooth).

I don't specifically remember using the Moonlight Greatsword.

    About Patches:
If you kill him in the Catacombs before meeting Reah she still has the same problem in the Tomb of Giants, but she just doesn't mention Patches.

About the Tree sounds on the bridge to Sen's:
You are walking above Darkroot Garden, and some of the Treants are triggered after you cross certain points, so you are likely hearing the sound of Treants emerging from the ground and reacting to your crossing the trigger point. This happens at other points in the game, like Lower Undead Burg; the first crossbow Hollow Solider shoots at you from the other area of the Burg when you descend the stairs into the Lower Undead Burg.

About the stuff I posted above:
Some ideas I had were originally posted in the official (preparetodie.com) forum under the General Dark Souls Discussion forum. My post was titled "Finish the game without lighting bonfires?" and was about what it says; I had a theory that maybe truly ending the age of fire means somehow beating the game with all bonfires extinguished. Unfortunately, someone pointed-out that the Ash Lake bonfire by the dragon was pre-lit, and seemingly cannot be extinguished.

However, there was discovered in the text-dump an "extinguish fire" command. If that was left in the game and is hidden it might support my theory, but there is seemingly no way currently to extinguish the Ash Lake bonfire by the dragon.

Is it possible to skip the first fight vs Seath?

First time through I kind of meandered through it, so I am not sure if I actually had to come out from the prison to open up the path to the crystal caves. Was that needed in order to turn the bridges?

If the bridges did need to be turned, what happens if an invader turns it for you prematurely?

Yeah, try going straight to Sif to get the Covenant of Artorias, going to New Londo Ruins, killing Ingward, and going right for the Four Kings.

After reading the entire text dump I found dialogue which suggests Kaathe can open Sen's Fortress, and this dialogue is supported by a section from Siegmeyer where he says he "Heard a great roar..." and the gate was opened.

Also: try being in the Forest Covenant, leveling-up as much as possible, killing Quelaag, making the Chaos Blade, and talking to Shiva to see if he reacts. Maybe try at various upgrade points for the blade, and also try to buy all of his items to see if his dialogue changes.

After reading the entire text dump there are only a few characters with dialogue I have not seen:

    Kaathe (apparently opens Sen's Fortress)
Siegmeyer (confirming that Kaathe does/could open Sen's)
Oscar (dialogue mentioning Frampt and his recovery after the Asylum, among other things; there was a lot of his involvement seemingly cut from the game)

There are other small details which are foreign to me, but these are the ones which struck me as most significant. I found nothing about the pendant at all; no mention of it anywhere in any line of dialogue.

The command extinguish bonfire is likely tied to killing the firekeeper of said bonfire..

    Firelink, Chaos, Anor Londo..

so whilst not a player action, the command is in the game to activate upon killing the coresponding fire keeper.

I did have a theory as to the orders of the switches in the catacombs perhaps being tied to the statue in the back of firelink shrine..

of the 3 bridge switches and 2 door switches might move the statue...

fairly far fetched and somewhat hard to pull off

On my next playthrough I will try to engage patches in the catacombs right away.. I'm sure others have done it.. by engage I mean talk to.. I have already killed him right off the bat..

anyways.. talking to patches, go back to fire link do the bells get reah in the catacombs.. meet patches the second time and see what he says , does?

There might be a link there to him giving you the elite cleric armor..

So no to being a cleric so he doesn't aggro you, but don't forgive him.. get the twin humanity

in the catacombs, if he still kicks you in and then say no to being a cleric, so no to forgiving him.. see if he gives you a different peace offering..

    many things still to try..

Not sure how kaathe would open sen's fortress before ringing the bells.. that whole thing seems very scripted in stone for the game progression..

Though from the top of sen's you can see the bell tower for the gargoyles.. and the bridge with the Helkite dragon.. and the helkite dragon is the only thing that roars..

hmm.. so does the dragon torso stone..

Full Dragon Rank 3, maxed 99 scale offered.. stand at the door of Sen's and use the dragon torso stone to Roar?

Once I get through 4 kings without getting my *** handed to me I'll be able to progress,

if anyones on 360 and around.. gimme a message glyphblade sl 120.. be warned I'm on new game 6.. so it's a bit tougher.. not impossible.. but ya..

If I go for an NG+ and if the developers want to actually make PVP viable for Path of the Dragon I can try it out. It takes 2-5 runs of the drakes just to get one dragon scale o_o

I don't think it's right to assume Kaathe can't roar; here's the dialogue text from the dump:

"Seek Anor Londo. And claim Gwyn's heirloom, the Lordvessel. I will open Sen's Fortress, which leads to Anor Londo.

    Hraaaoogggh!Hraaaoogggh!

Now go, Undead warrior. Show the world that the truth becomes you."

That midde part probably qualifies as a roar, and when Sieglinde hears it he says:

""Splendid news, I tell you. First, I hear a great roar. And, voila! The path is open."

I'm not saying Kaathe can't roar.. but there are also other roars in the game too..

as always with everything.. any rumour or idea is not dismissed.. it will all be attempted, and exhausted until either it's confirmed.. or deemed a myth / impossible..

but each idea always leads to another and yet another and so on.. think of it as a progresion..

so.. how to make Kaathe roar...

possibly by feeding / offering him 99 humanity..

others have started a new game, killed Sif, ran to new londo, killed Ingrid, got the seal key, killed 4 kings and joined the dark wraiths right off the bat..

and reported no change.. you can max humanity to kaathe for 99 humanity and you get a message pop up as well saying "Very good, you can offer no more.." or something like that..

if the bells haven't been rung.. maybe that ques his roar?

Worth a try. By the way, I went over to several other wikis: French, Spanish, and the Italian. I found nothing of real importance over there, however, I found this: Trade the Pendant to Snuggly for a Memorial of Retaliation. Keep it until Kaathe for hidden dialogue. Google isn't the best for translation so I think what it was was the trade off for souvenir and the rumour of hidden dialogue and the translator got messed up. I'll keep looking over there, though.

Another thing was the French wiki took me back here whenever I clicked an article. Weird.

I just need someone to check if they can kill the Firekeeper at Firelink. I don't think I can take on the Four Kings with one Estus Flask, though humanity might help. If he she can be killed, I'll kill Lautrec and then finish her off later.

    @Xirmi:
If you do the four kings after you get the Lordvessel, then you can just warp to Firelink from another bonfire before going to New Londo. But as I have said before, the bonfire by the Everlasting Dragon is also lit.
    @Glyph:
"anyways.. talking to patches, go back to fire link do the bells get reah in the catacombs.. meet patches the second time and see what he says, does?"

I just did this on a low level character. I were originally only going after the Large Divine Ember, but ended up rescuing Reah as well. I have not rung any of the bells yet, but have been to the depths so they showed up at Firelink. The only bosses I have defeated are Hydra, Moonlight Butterfly, Capra Demon and Pinwheel.

Patches will only ask the 'Cleric' question the first time you meet him, he did this when I talked to him in the Catacombs. When I got back to him, he asked if the incident with the bridge had caused me any trouble. I answered 'yes', he then bribed me with one 'humanity' and told me how jolly good companions we were.

Then I went to the Depths, and Reah appeared in Firelink.

In Tomb of Giants he will greet you with, 'Well, hello again' (or something), then ask you to check out the pit, kick you down, and so on. When you talk to him again he will not ask you to forgive him, but instead if we are jolly good companions. I answered 'no' and he bribed me with a 'twin humanities'. He will also call you 'dearie' or something if you have a female character.

Found a video of the second encounter (last part):

Also from the text dumps, Petrus were supposed to be trapped by one of the necromancers or the Pinwheel, so you had to rescue him. This could have been related to finding his armor.

Help me! Somebody! Help me! I am trapped! You there, please, help me... As you can see I am captured, immobilized. Soon to be a sacrifice to necromancy. I implore you... please help... Ooh... Phew... I am saved. Thank you. I owe you my life. I am Petrus of Thorolund. I will be sure to repay you, back at Firelink Shrine. Please, no, it's the least that I can do. Please, rest assured.I shall repay you, but back at Firelink Shrine. The Gods do not look favourably upon haste! Hm?

There is also this dialogue, probably if he kills you. I have let him kill me, but he had nothing to say. I have not let him kill me after he kills Reah, so it could still be in the game.

Too bad for you, I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing. Best of luck as a Hollow! Gah hah hah hah hah!

I just watched the whole video, and he actually answered 'yes' to being a cleric in the Catacombs, but still got the bribe. So I guess Patches will only aggro in the Tomb of Giants, after you crawl out of the pit.

Has anyone thought of going to look for him in the catacombs while he was gone from Firelink? I think one of my characters has Reah in Firelink right now so I may go check to see if he will be down there with her

That was my original plan. I entered the Catacombs after they disappeared from Firelink. Searched every part of the level, but didn't see him anywhere. I then managed to die just before reaching pinwheel (guess where!), so I respawned in Firelink and Petrus had already returned.

something I just noticed. My friend just started his first game as a pyromancer with the master key. I never noticed this on any of my playthroughs but is that Artorias that throws the body with the key through the opening in the ceiling? I dunno if that is a new addition with the patch or if I never noticed (because on my first playthrough I didn't know his significance an on subsequent playthroughs I skip that end part of the story)...either way...if that is Artorias then he is alive while you are alive right? And it would stand to reason that he is somewhere in the undead asylum right? Or was that Oscar?

It means, that Shiva should have a sidequest like Lautrec. I think, he should be ''Satsuki of DrS''. And it automaticly explains why he is in Blighttown (he wants to find Chaos Blade) and why cat doesn't like him that much (dialogue). It's really strange. Perhaps Deadline?

For the no bonfire run, I can rely on the Firelink bonfire until I get to Blighttown.

I wonder if I can use the Firekeeper bonfires in Anor Londo and at the Daughter of Chaos, since I can extinguish them both by killing their respective Firekeepers.

The Dragon is the only problem.

I also just finished Gwyn on NG++++, so I can try going for Sif > Four Kings immediately. I might do the Moonlight Butterfly so I have Beatrice down there, though I doubt they're strong enough in NG+++++ to tank Power Within.

@kamiztheman and @acidrabbitz I know oscar gives you the key when he gives you the estus flask. Start a new game and watch the entire cinematic up to when you start in your cell. The very last thing you see before you take control of your character is a knight who throws a body in from the ceiling. This body is the first thing you pillage and gives you the first key that releases you from your cell. Who is that that throws the body down?

    @Phaedros:
The game isn't incomplete, but the dumps gives an insight into events that were scrapped or changed during development.
It was the same for Demon's Souls. Characters, weapons and events, that never made it into the final game, were found in dumped files.

It annoys me when reading that huge text dump... The game could have gone so much further, if the story had made sense. What was FROM thinking? They did the same kinda confusing stuff in Demon's souls... The whole umbasa doesn't exist, maiden in black being the "worst demon of them all", the derps who went with Astraea to the valley of defilement... (One was Bito the Moonlit or something like that). There's all this info floating around on the web, that didn't get included in the final game(s), and it makes me damn mad.

Ash Lake is amazing. Why the fu*k would you make it so damn obselete? IT'S A LAKE, UNDER A LAKE OF POISON. HOW IS THAT NOT IMPORTANT TO THE STORY!?

There were no names in the original dumps, they had a very long unbroken stream of text and data. The ones I posted have been cleaned up a bit, and divided into sections for each npc. The text is still in the same order as the original dumps, and some parts could theoretically belong to the npc above or below.

I just did a sif>4 kings run ( i even went the long way round the darkroot to avoid using the seal for the door to the forest), and fed 100 humanity to kaathe to get the well done message, and nothing...
    I am disappoint
    2 more ideas:
Only the covenant related items are not useable, and the pendant. I still think the "way of white" +3 i saw in the dump and the pendant are related, and you can level the covenant somehow. There is a chance of some event triggering if you stay inactive in a particular spot (maybe with white seance ring equipped?) since this is a mechanic already implemented in 2 different places in the game. Maybe near some statue?
Does anyone remember the locations we obtain dark, white seance and firstborn rings? One of those is obtained just next to the disappearing statue, maybe other locations are also somehow special?
Last theory, which has been discussed, is joining all covenants in a particular order (and maybe leveling them up)
    I have a quick q:
When you revive anastasia firekeeper, at some point she says "so u decided to link the fire". Is the dialogue different if you side with kaathe?

@Bighat Darkmoon Seance Ring is in the Catacombs, behind the secret crumbling wall (where the Giant Skeleton falls). White is in Duke's Archives along with the Maiden's Robes (from the big door entrance, walk to the side instead of going down the ladder). Firstborn is in Darkmoon Tomb, next to the disappearing statue.

In terms of Anastasia, I'm preeettty sure she says the same thing no matter what. I've sided with Kaathe every time except my first, and I've never heard her say anything different.

The Darkmoon Seance is used to get to Gwndolin, right? So, in theory White Seance and Firstborn should lead somewhere. They're worthless besides extra attunement slots and even then that's not all that good.

I have a theory of the Firstborn. I think the Sunlight Altar is the remains of a statue of Gwyn's firstborn and maybe the Firstborn Ring is just another way to get into the Covenant without having 25 faith or being summoned multiple times.

Well, after reading most of the 42 pages of this topic, I thought it was time for me to register and become a part of this website winking I too think there are more secrets in the game and I am keen to find out.
Honestly, the things some of you (especially glyphblade) have tried made me wonder if I can actually be of any help, but I do had a thought about the cracked stone in the fire centipede's battle room. It immediatly reminded me of the description of Leo's ring , about how it made him splice a boulder in two with his spear. I didn't have his spear to try it out, since I killed Smough twice in stead of Ornstein, and other spears didn't do anything, but if no one has tried this yet, maybe someone can and will?

@Dust: Okay. There seems to be no love for Solaire (assuming he was the war god) in Anor Londo. Not a single statue of him.

@glyph: I tried that as well. I still have extra boss souls lying around for further tests if anyone has any ideas. (All of them, I think.)

On another note, I tried fighting Quelaag using the Old Witch Ring. I saw the text dump for her, so I thought she might say something.
But I screwed up. I forgot to equip it before the fight and switched it during the fight. I used a Homeward Miracle to get back and try and get the cutscene again, but you only get it once. Anyone tested this?

I also saved Reah from the Tomb of Giants pretty early. The Crestfallen Warrior said something about her being in the church. (I never noticed him saying that, because I usually save her after he hollows). She disappearing without dropping anything, and I never had the conversation with Petrus about him killing her or realizing she was in the church.

One final thing. Again, I checked Firelink Shrine after every boss fight since I freed Lautrec. At one point, he disappears. This is the second playthrough I noticed this. Any idea where he goes?

I have a fully upgraded Dragonslayer Spear, so I'll give it a try as soon as I'm down in the demon Ruins. I'll wear Ornstein's armor and the Leo Ring too. Just to be safe.

...if they were listed in the guide, wouldn't they have been discovered sooner than months later?

Unless the guide was released late. I never even knew there was one so I could just be misinformed...I didn't even buy Demon's Souls 'til Gamespot gave it #1.

    Do'h, I guess you're right.

I didn't know about the guide until 15 minutes ago when I google'd it, but I sure didn't know about the guide when the game released. So maybe it was released later.

I do have the Dark Souls guide, and a part of me can't stop thinking that if if there is more in this game, why isn't it in the guide? Still, the mistery is part of the exitement.

The strategy guide for Demon's Souls was released with the game and given to people for free who pre-ordered it, and bought it within a couple weeks or so of release.

Im actually really surprised some people had no idea a guide even existed. Games nowadays (matter of fact, when did they ever??) dont release including the strategy guide and as the special collector's edition every day. It's not exactly common thing to easily forget about.

Hello, im new here. Im also performing my own form of searching. Most of it has been discussed here and some have been suggested already. So far, I havnt found a thing or really any clues. However I would like to post this that I found that might peak curiosity.

    http://www.ign.com/wikis/dark-souls/Character_Creation

If you scroll down the page and look at the starting gift page, the article mentions this for the pendant:

''Trinket. No effect, but fond memories comfort travelers. (Wearer can talk to Pygmy.) Recommended first gift by game director.''

The sentence ''Wearer can talk to the Pygmy.'' interests me since most people believe that your character is the pygmy. I dont know if this has been posted before, sorry if it is. >.<

Wha?? No no, that's just the Old Monk. I don't think the lore of Demon's Souls is related in any way to that in Dark Souls.

The only connection I can see being a possibility is the "Land of the Giants" 5th (or 6th? I cant remember) Archstone that was broken and unusable from the start of the game being none other than Lordran, where during the Age of Fire, the land's inhabitants were indeed larger than normal humans. Look at the size of all of the enemies and such that were from that time. The Black and Silver Knights, Ornstein and Smough, Gwyn, Gwyndolin, Gwynevere, the Channelers, the Darkwraiths...

I dont know if this was mentioned or done, but another thing that ive wanted to do was drop the pendant next to NPC's that have gone hollow. If that doesnt work, then maybe play with the Darksign that you always start with.

I know glyphblade (creator of the thread and main tester of these theories) has tried dropping the pendant in front of most if not all NPC's, including Reah and Solaire once they go Hollow/Batshit.

And as far as I know, the Darksign is just an emergency insta-kill, in case you're stuck somewhere and you need to go back to a bonfire. silly But It could have a use. We were thinking if you died in a specific place in the world, instead of going to the last bonfire you rested at, you would instead be transported to another area, like in the case of the first Seath fight.

I think it's fairly safe to assume there is still atleast one secret in-game that hasn't been found. Likely a big one. It obviously wouldn't be something like a rare weapon, pyromancy, miracle, or Sorcery, since Trophy's/Achievements for having all of them already unlock without it. But something like a special boss or secret NCP are easily possible. Look how many illusionary walls or other things are hidden about, chances are others still remain to be seen. It's just going to be a pain finding them, probably requiring some specific action or chain of actions noone would ever think to do. I enjoy searching for these type of things though, so I'll post any findings I stumble upon (no promises I'll actually stumble upon anything though o -o). Anyways, to wrap this longer than necessary post up, just remember: Try the unexpected and/or seemingly fatal. silly

Yeah, scruffy, but those are random msg's. This one tends to appear at the same spot every time. Most likely nothing, but it got me wondering.

Has anyone tried using the different kinds of pyromancies on the door behind the Centipede? The chaos pyromancies claim to melt stone etc. I was just thinking, what if they somehow melt the doorway?

Also, everybody is leaning towards the 9 cups, and the 9 souls. But over the 9 cups, there seems to be a larger cup. What if that cup is meant for Gwyns soul, and we are in fact missing a "normal" boss soul? I mean, Gwyns soul looks different from all the other souls in the inventory.

There were no 'big' secrets uncovered in demons souls. The ones that were found after a long time were game mechanics related. Two I remember:

The filthy woman merchant had a new ephemeral eyestone for sale every time you died, which made them unlimited.
The Demonbrandt had increased attack against demons (bosses), even against the maiden in black.

Some substantial mysteries from dark souls:

There are two missing armor sets. These are actually used by the npc's in the game, but there's no known way to acquire them:
Rickert's Mage Smith Coat: Coat worn by proper mage smiths who studied at Vinheim Dragon School. Mage smiths learn their craft alongside sorcerers, but apply their sorcery to forging weapons with magic embers.
Petrus' Elite Cleric Armor: Armor worn by the warrior clerics of the Way of White, who are famous for being unyielding in battle. Among such armors, those that were black belonged to warrior clerics sent on missions, many of whom were high-level priests.
And about secret bosses. There's a list of bosses and phantom npc's in the game dumps. It comprises all the known bosses and npc's. This includes end level bosses (not unnamed mini bosses like hydra) and npc's (summons and invaders), but there's one last unknown at the end of the list: Gravelord Servant.

Actually Seek Guidance may be something to look into in other areas too. The wiki description says:

"The Seek Guidance miracle allows the player to see more messages on the ground as well as their positive and negative ratings. Additional developer messages, providing hints, can also be seen in some areas."

I had another thought after going through this last night that I didn't remember to post until now. What about the path in blighttown just past the fog wall. The one in the circular shaft similar to the one you start out climbing down in. The Path is a bit below the fog wall I think, and it's a path that allows you to cross completely to the other side, along thin wooden beams, but ultimately leads to nowhere and nothing, just always stood out to me as a potential secret access way to something. o -o

RE: seek guidance. Yes. A poster claimed to have completed entire playthrough with seek guidance active. I believe it was glyph. He had also run the game with the white seance ring in as well.
I've been running with it on for most of my current playthrough as well.

RE: the resonance rings. They DO look like the symbol for the way of the white. So that could be something. I think an easy test to see if they are unique is to start up in offline mode and see if they are still there. If the appear offline that would warrant further investigation.

For those of you who have never used a resonance ring: the proper spell to cast that will trigger the resonance bonus will have a white ring over its icon in your equipped spell UI area. So maybe see what spell it's looking for you to cast.

I think those might just be regular resonance rings, I've seen them there only about half the time I go there. If I recall correctly, they are usually for Healing miracles, which would make sense, since people might want to make sure they heal back to full Health before pulling any bonewheels to fight.

Yeah but I could think of plenty of other areas in Dark Souls where I'd like a heal boost too. The fact that there are 2 there, in the same spot for many (all?) players (though apparently not all the time), might make them more significant.

@Scruffy: If it was the first area of the game, I could believe they would just be there to help (and to teach you about resonances), but the catacombs is hardly a place to visit first. Also, is there actual confirmation about which miracles they boost? Has anyone tested that?

So the white rings in the Catacombs can boost your miracles permanently when you have the Boost Miracle Synergy ring equipped. Everytime you equip the ring again your miracles will glow, as if you're standing near a resonance ring (according to the findings of Zysecuh, a member of Reddit).

To bad the topic hasn't been updated yet, they were trying to make the Boost Miracle Synergy boost all miracles. Hope I made myself clear, otherwise, read my above link.

It sounds like there are at least 3 developer-placed rings that give these perma-boosts. Right now it sounds like they're trying to find one for each miracle type. I like their notion that this may have something to do with the Way of the White covenant.

    some Pygmy info I found:

Rumor has it that the Furtive Pygmy is the origin of all life. He had provided the three other lords, Gwyn, the Witch of Izalith, and Nito, their own flames, and helped bring down the dragons. Out of guilt, he had chosen to forget everything he knew, to be forgotten, and subject himself to the wills of the other lords.

It's been said that the Furtive Pygmy was the original holder of the First Flame, and the four Lord Flames.

Also give a kind of insight on who's pendant it actually is.

I find this a great bit of info .. in a way

The ring of the sun princess buffs your faith based spells as if you had miracle synergy.

The resonance rings will not permanent buff any spell, equipping the sun princess ring does give you the buff and if your beside a resonance ring, you get another buff I think ..

Just noticed something weird. I went back to check out sen's. And upon approaching the gate I could hear boulders rolling already. When I took the shortcut to the roof however, the respawning Giant who drops them was absent, but the sounds of them rolling could still be heard very noticably from around the area where he stood. o.o

I had that too. I always killed the ball dropping Giant whenever I visited the merchant in Sen's, and one day he was just.. gone.. Still heard the ball dropping sounds though.

A few days later he had returned and now he respawns just like he used to.

I was at the bridge right before firesage last night. you can clearly see where you fight the Centipede demon from up there. I could make out the cave and see the door that people are theorizing about. However, the door wasn't rendering. I could clearly see whats behind the door, and its just more rock. That door may just be for looks.

Well, after reading all of this, I think I will try a pendant run to see if I come across anything.

This is probably not a good idea… and someone probably has already tried, but what if you kill all of the way of the white guys when they are at Firelink Shrine and not Kill Rhea? I am assuming she would just be aggro towards you, but those guys are d-bags anyway. And she would not go to the catacombs...maybe.

Also, seeing how the shrine is called Firelink. What if you allow the fire keeper to be killed and then use the soul on something else?

I have always had a feeling the statues of mother and child that are everywhere are a sign of the pygmy. Since we are all descendants of the pygmy (I think), he/she brought about life of man. It seems like every major location has a statue even Firelink shrine. It is one of the first things you see. Also, the base of the missing statue in Anor Londo has the same base as the statue sometimes.

I may try somethings with this on my run. I think I remember others already trying though.

I don't think the Pygmy predated Gwyn and the others. Remember, the church (Way of the White) hunts undead and puts them in asylums. That church is directed by Gwyn's uncle, Lloyd (and perhaps Gwyndolin). The undead and the Darksign are the result of something the Pygmy did. Some theorize (based on Kaathe's words), that the Pygmy's Dark Soul grew stronger while the others weakened. Another possibility is that he waited and preserved its power to enable the age of men, while Gwyn and the others became gods and did what they did. If the Pygmy predated them and was the origin of all life, he wouldn't have had to hide his soul and wait for the Age of Fire to end before the Age of Men could begin.

I was not under the impression that he predated the others also and that he received his around the same time as the others. I was assuming the flame was similar to the flame of life or soul. The opening cinematic shows the undead rising from the flames before it mentions Gwyn and the others. So I always thought the original “men” were the undead. Then a few got a stronger flame that made them gods.

This is just what I got out of the scenes I have seen. I could be completely wrong.

I do not believe Gwyn and the others were Gods. The trailer shows many pygmy-like beings approaching the flame. The trailer also shows that that daughters of the Witch of Izalith were much smaller than she was and they did not have special souls. (Quelana being a good example.)

Solaire (assuming he is Gwyn's firstborn) is also normal-sized without a special soul (that was presumably taken from him).

Gwyndolin has a special soul, but he is relatively small. Gwynvere is an illusion, so I suspect Gwyndolin made her bigger than life to impress anyone who met her.

Furthermore, we know that receiving souls makes one stronger or special.

The Four Kings and Seath got their souls directly from Gwyn.

The Iron Golem was also given a soul as it an artificial construct.

The Moonlight Butterfly was Seath's creation.

Sif, Ornstein and Smough were likely important in some way in the hierarchy, hence, I assume they received powerful souls.

Quelaag has a boss soul as well. Quelana does not, but Quelaag, who was mutated by the Bed of Chaos, does. The Bed of Chaos creates demons, presumably by giving away some of its power. (Some demons, such as the Firesage, predated it, hence they don't have special souls.)

If Solaire's special soul was taken away from him and he became normal, it means the souls can also be given.

One last point: The Greatlord Greatsword specifically says that Gwyn gave them his power.

Gwyn probably shared his power a lot more, as there are a number of other known gods. Gwyn had human friends, such as Havel, who hollowed, which implies he wasn't simply a being from a godlike race in the beginning and that he fraternized with humans at some point.

That's just my theory, based on the trailer and descriptions and stuff we see in the game.

Velka is the Goddess of Sin. Her covenant might refer to the Pardoners who follow her, like Oswald.

Something else I've wondered about, is why the "Tomb of the Gravelord" is a warpable location. After all, the bonfire isn't there until after you kill Nito, therefore making the room empty of all use, meaning warping there is pointless. So why leave it as a warpable location then? o:

While I was researching my above text-wall, I noticed that the Bed of Chaos isn't the origin of all the demons.

titanite Demons are unrelated to the Bed of Chaos. They originated from titanite slabs and a blacksmith deity. (Haven't found any details.)

The Demon Firesage (as described by the Demon's Catalyst) was the first demon and the master of the original pyromancy, which was cast by a catalyst (Izalith Catalyst). After the Bed of Chaos, this fire magic was lost and pyromancy was created.

If you warp into the gravelord room, or after killing Nito

there was no other way out of the room.

The coffin nestle thing only works if you do it to get into to Nito's realm..

after killing Nito.. the coffin won't be there.. hence the bonfire as it would be only guarantee'd way out...

consider it the game designers making it a way out so no one can get trapped..

before killing Nito, and after killing Nito you can go to the alter via the nestle in the coffin trick. can be done while human and also undead.

Before killing Nito the covenant options are normal.. after killing Nito, you will maintain your gravelord covenant status, you just cannot progress in rank.

All of the daughters of chaos and the witch were mutated by the bed of chaos save 1 - Quelaan.. who you meet in the swamp.

The firesage demon was the first demon born from the bed of chaos, it does not predate it.. read the discription of the demon catalyst... and all other demons exist as a result, Asylum demon, stray demon, Taurus demons, Capra demons, Tenticle demons, rock fire demons.. all born from the bed of chaos

Lloyd is the founder and head bishop of the way of the white. Havel is also a bishop of the way of the white

Gwynevere does really exist, she just moved away a long time ago.. the illusion may or may not be her real size.

as far as the pygmy and the pendant..lets just assume they are related.. but likely not.. we won't know for sure til we find out...

The Demon's Catalyst actually says he was the first demon and the last master of the of the original fire arts "BEFORE" the Witch was engulfed by the Flame of Chaos, creating pyromancy.

How could he have been the last master before that unless he predated the Bed of Chaos?

I always thought the witch made the bed of chaos and THEN was consumed by it. That could imply there was a period of time from its creation (and it spawning demons) to where the witch failed to control it and was consumed.

I disagree that Gwyndolin's true form was the one that we fought. After you defeat him you enter into an area that has to be his personal chamber.

Notice the size of the bed its an appropriate size for someone the same size as Gwynvere. I find it to be improbable that a being the size of the Gwyndolin that we fought would use a be that big.

He must have used some kind of magic to make himself smaller for the fight, the same way that he uses magic to make his hallway appear never ending.

I don't know...I'm starting to think we sorta found everything.

I think the Pendant is merely a hint that 'good' is not necessarily 'good' in the game. You trade it to Snuggly for the Souvenir, which signifies the vengeance you, as a human, ought to seek against Gwyn and the other proprietors of the Undead Curse, who survive merely by feeding off your Humanity that they convince you to willingly give up. Also, Humanity is the Pygmy's 'Dark Soul' (if you look at it, it literally looks like a Boss Soul, just black), hence he is the progenitor of Humans and lord of 'the Dark'. The Gods feared this Dark Soul, and devised a way to get humans to willingly sacrifice it.

Lloyd wrangles 'em up, Gwyn sends them on an 'impossible' mission, where they will undoubtedly feed their humanity in exchange for 'life-giving' estus (now, that's Undead life, not Human life - but this explains why consuming a Humanity AND drinking Estus both refill your health).

I dunno, I guess there's nothing here we don't already know. But I just feel like it's one giant well-oiled-machine that's meant to seem like it's not, and we've uncovered all the pieces already. I'd love to be proven wrong, don't misunderstand me.

Perhaps a no Bonfire run would yield something...wasn't somebody going to do that? I'd give it a shot if nobody else is up for it...but it'll be a little while before I can get on it.

The room behind Gwyndolin is Gwyn's tomb. It was meant to hide the fact that Gwyn sacrificed his power to rekindle the fire. It was probably better for people to believe that he had just died, rather than think that the power of the flame was dying.

    That's Gwyn's tomb, actually.

I suspect it's big simply for show, because we know how big Gwyn was. Gwyn instructed his children to shepherd the humans and gave his children his power before setting of to link the first flame. What he did then was a sacrifice which equated to death for them, hence, they made a tomb for him.

    @Cloud: That's a possibility.

The Witch of Izalith didn't create the Bed of Chaos. She tried to create her own version of the First Flame and instead created the Flame of Chaos. She failed to control the flame, which engulfed transformed her into the Bed of Chaos, which in turn, spawns demons.

This is what I can understand from the Demon's Catalyst and the Lord Soul of the Bed of Chaos.

@Digital Good point...I actually meant a run without lighting/resting at a Bonfire, but it's good to know that an 'extinguish all bonfires' run would be impossible. Your idea makes more sense, though - getting through the game without leveling (which you do at the Bonfire) seems like a lost cause. It's really donating your humanity which is the problem (at least, in terms of my subjective theorizing...).

Makes me wonder if the Dragon does anything once you're at Max in the Dragon Covenant...technically, if you're out to kill Gwyn and were to prove yourself, I feel like he oughtta do something (though the dump files don't seem to make this a promising lead).

@Cloudrunner Hm...no estus. Interesting idea, never thought of that. Perhaps summoning Phantoms would make it easier, though you could just end up pissing off a lot of Phantoms that way.

The Darkmoon Knight should be the Lady of the Darkling, Anor Londo firekeeper. All the other female npc's with dialogue are listed afaik. There are no more characters that I can think of, so it may have been scrapped as well.

One other thing I remembered, for all you pygmy hunters out there. Rewatch the Prologue video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lmEqpgg3B4), the pygmy depicted there looks female as well.

Hi everyone. I wanted to participate to this discussion even if it is hard to keep track of everything that is said.

Regarding the pendant end the pygmies i had something to propose, which i think has already been told but here i go:
YOU AND EVERYONE who can go hollow are the pygmies (look at your height compared to every other creatures); every pygmy who goes to rekindle a flame or want more power in this world (just like Gwyn did, end up insane consumed by power, kindle the fire ending). Regarding the use of the pendant, I think its role is to make you realize what will happen to you if you succeed to Gwyn. Reah wanted to rekindle and she went hollow, she has a pendant just like you do, to make you realize you are the heirs of the dark soul (humanity), and if you follow her(Gwyn's) path, you'll end up insane.
Why it is said that the pendant use would be discovered most likely on your 2nd or 3rd playthrough? well because once you helped her, got the soul of Nito; you most likely won't come back to the Duke's archive to see her and you'll go kill Gwyn, most likely kindle the fire as a reflex. (its hard to find Kaathe on a first playthrough without a guide of some sort, don't you agree?)

Conserning the cracked walls or doors, has anyone considered the possibility that it just goes along the idea that the world crumbled down at some point?

The other day something called my attention while I was at Anor Londo (NG+). I was down the stairs next to the spiral platform located in front of Anor's first bonfire, and a little white sphere with legs, similar to a spider, appeared running on the floor. I quickly killed it with one hit, I could not let it go!... and it only dropped a Transient Curse :/
Someone else saw a monster like this?

So, here's something I noticed in the All Saint's Day trailer for Dark Souls. There is one part, for a split second, that shows the player walking knee deep in water and all around them it is pitch black. Two things stuck out to me about. One, I never seen it in game. I believe the trailer's release was pretty close to the game's release and find it unlucky that this was removed. Two, it looks just like the beginning to Demon's Souls.

It's about 28-30 seconds in. It does show the Hydra attack immediately after but from a different angle and it's considerably brighter. You can see the walls and trees way off in the distance at that point, so I don't think it's the Darkroot Garden.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure you're all beating a dead horse, there are no more secrets, they've all been found. And I'm fairly certain this thread has pointed virtually nothing that wasn't already available knowledge. It sucks because I'd like there to be secrets, but I think its all been uncovered.

This therad was started over a month ago.. compiling all of the various information that had been rumoured, myths, untried, confirmed, suspected and yet still secret since Oct 5..

It's because of this thread and all the contributions and idea's from everyone here that we have the actual information or available knowledge...

A more recent idea I am going to try.. in final fantasy 3 (6 depending on how you count).. I think.. or 4, or 7.. not sure what number..

there was a sand worm monster on an island that would swallow you whole and transport you to a secret area.. I don't remember if you needed anything specific.. a member in your party or a certain item..

I'm going to try and get eaten by some giant worms in the demon ruins and see what happens..

what else eats you in this game... anyone wanna see what happens at the 3 giant badgers in Alvinas forest.. have the pendant with you.. and go get eaten.. see if you get taken somewhere else..

The best strategy for the everlasting dragon from my point of view is to go in with light gear and move out of the dragon breath,

just stay behind him, use the havel ring & Dark grain ring together to be nible enough,

use a katana, and do strong attacks, one at a time,

    patience is the key,

i have defeated him at LVL 45... with no sweat

    @digital:
I think we should expand the timeline section into a history section. Instead of having an indication of how many years ago a particular even happened, we should write the entire history as background.

The first part would be easy, since we know very little about the Age of Dragons but have some details about the war and its aftermath.

We know that the Witch of Izalith tried create her own flame. Did this happen before Gwyn tried to rekindle the First Flame? (I think some of the Black Knight armor pieces mentioned fighting demons in the descriptions).

Then, the kindling of the First Flame, the setting up of the Church. Gwyn ordered his children to lead the humans and gave them his power (Great Lord Greatsword) before leaving.
So, the Way of the White and the Darkmoon Blades were created.

At some point, the other deities left. Anyone found any details about this?

Gwyndolin seems to be the only one left.

there is 1 part where u walk knee deep in the water that is in New Londo ruins if u diddnt lower the water and u enter the place at the start where u encounter the first ghost then u go right around some old ruins and there u can walk over a stone bride stil under water to a chest/body

Regarding the Blocked path in lower undead burg. You can see the other side of that blocked off path easily when you first enter the area with the basement key. After you slide down the loooong ladder and leave the building, look left and down. You can clearly see the boarded up path and where it leads. It leads around a bend and into a wall of terrain.
It looks like that was probably going to be a secret area at some point in the game design, but left along. I am more concerned about the boarded up door near all of the torch wielding hollows that are guarding a single humanity item... that seems off.

The path in Undead Burg, I am sure, was scrapped. The ledge you were talking about where you can see it, if you shoot arrows at it from there they will go through the stairs and floor. It probably had some use but in the end it never made it into the game.

Gods, From are really master trolls! There's nothing more in this game. All this pendant-walls-npcs sh*t was cut due to deadline/Xbox DVD space.
And it's really dramatic. The story feels REALLY scrapped, 'cause we just have no information and without information many things are looking really stupid. I really like the atmosphere of Demon's Souls. Wonderful Boletria - we knew as much as we need. But we knew.
When we look at last years (TGS10 etc.) trailers, we can see, that
    1) Anastcia should play much more important role (perhaps she should be like Maiden in Black)
    2) Most of ''Summon NPCs'' (Taurus, Leeroy, Beatrice) should have their own side quests.
When I've read the whole text dump, I started to understand this game:
    - Shiva, who actually should be Satsuki (that's why he went to Blighttown). Okay, From. That wasn't that hard to do a second quest like ''Lautrec killed Anactasia''. Lame.
    - Oscar, who should actually be your rival.
    - Velka's Covenant. That would make much more sense. Being a judge of Sin's Goodness makes much more sense then hunt people for ephemeral target of this ***.
    etc. etc.
So, what's the moral of this story?
Take more time to make a game and don't release game on Xbox.
I hope for Demon's Souls 2 or other Souls game for Vita. Sony already learned their lesson and now they are able to invest in new Souls game. We hope, we pray.

Here is the yet undiscovered/hidden dialogue for Shiva of the East from the text dump:

    Shiva's Dialogue:

"Hello again. Strange to meet away from the clan and the forest. But while you're here, how about some equipment? I love collecting these things, but I can only keep so many. And, you know, you are a friend. I'll sell them cheap."

"We meet again. I have the equipment, if you have the need.Well, there you are again.I've culled my best picks from my last summoning. Have a look, will you? I see you have a sharp eye for trinkets. Suits me fine. I'll be seeing you."

"Right then. I'll see you in the forest."

"Right then. I'll be seeing you."

"Have you heard of Chaos Blade? The legendary sword of the ancient Undead master Makoto, its
blade a swirling vortex. I heard it's somewhere around here, but I can't find it....It's all I could ever wish for......I'd do anything to have it."

"Why, look at you! Just wait will you! Your sword! Is it not... the Chaos Blade...? I've been searching for her for ages! ...I beg of you, and I promise repay you...Will you give the sword to me?"

(This seems to be his response when you say "Yes")

"Excellent! Much gratitude! As promised, this is for you. Go ahead, take it. Ahh, splendid, the Chaos Blade...Look into the vortex...Wonderful...Simply wonderful...Oh my, oh my...But the sword's true value...hmm...Can't be known without a good killing..."

(This seems to be his response when you say "No")

"Yes, quite alright, I cannot blame you. The blade is yours, after all....So, I will do the honourable thing......And kill you for it...Don't you run away! Be still you rat! Taste my blade, taste it, you devil! Hee hee! Hee, hee hee hee!"

"This is what you get for crossing me. Have a look at my sword, for it's the last thing you'll see!"

"Red...the colour of blood...Hee hee...hee...By the devils...You won't be able to run far enough...What a wonderful specimen...Like slicing through butter...Hee, hee, nee hee hee! Your ambitions have sealed your fate. But, who'd have thought I'd be the traitor? Sometimes you never know, do you...Keh heh heh heh!"

So, most of NPCs could also get summoned. Drama.

I have left big hat logan in the cage at sen's fortress, went through to Seath's Dukes Archives and big hat logan is not in the cell below.

I was a princess guard covenant, dressed in maidens gear and died, only to appear in the standard cell... cast the princess guard miracles on the crying medussa's, all in maidens gear and no change..

Reah is there, hollow in her ussual place as well... leaving her alive for a while til I think of a new idea..

I opened the short cut in lost izalith, got Solaire to be all 3 of his options.

Used the pendant, equiped all of Gwyn's equipment, was a fully ranked 3, max 99 offerings to the warriors of sunlight covenant, dropped the pendant, wore the sunlight maggot,.. and all had no change to Solaire's behavior.

I put the pendant on the ground, dropped every boss soul and fire keeper soul on the ground and waited.. and nothing happened..

I dissagree with Grizzli.. with so many variables through npc options it is very likely that we have not hit the right combination of events or choices to trigger the pendant option..

Through story progress, or the correct order and sequence of events is how we'll find out what the pendant does..

and when it's all said and done and if we still haven't found what the pendant does..

we get our best Japanese to English translator and go to Japan.. and ask really nicely for director Hidetaka Miyazaki to tell us the secret..

Has anyone tried summoning an NPC and taking them somewhere else? As in... NOT in the boss fight?

I remember summoning Solaire in Anor Londo and he lost half his health going to town on those two giant knights in the grand hall, instead of going towards the fog with me.

What if... What if you were to summon him there and walk him down to the Darkmoon bonfire? Perhaps leaving the ring of the sun's firstborn on the corpse for him to "find it" ? Maybe even take him down for a chat with Gwyndolin?

I just got the Lordvessel in NG+ and then this idea popped into my head. It seems so natural to summon them just for the boss fight since they show up right before the fog and disappear after, but what happens if you take them elsewhere?

Logan has logical way (he goes to Duke's Archives, 'cause he wanted to lean Seath's magic). Siegmeyer... Okay, if you know the development story, then it's logical too (there should be area, that connects Izalith with Ash Lake (you can still see it from Tomb of Giants). But what's really strange is how have they all found a way to Anor Londo! It's just strange, I don't think that they also used a service of gargoyles. Strange.

And yeah, perhaps Pendant SHOULD have big use, but due to deadlines or wonderful Xbox DVD space they had to cut it too. ''We tried our best, you know the rest.''

Summoned NPCs go for the boss area usually if you leave.

Leeroy is the only one I managed to get to help me. I summoned him before killing the Bonewheel skeletons and he cleared everything out for me, dealing over 2000 damage per hit. >.>

Once the skeletons were dead, he just went into the boss area even when I tried to get him to follow me.

So, do we have any proof that Solaire is searching for the pendant?

Perhaps he's searching for his ring, or something else.

He's looking for something, let me say, something unphysical. He looks really depressed and starts to go mad. It's really important for him.
But has anyone managed what happens to him if you save him in Izalith (you kill all parasytes) Does he just sit there for eternity? When he helps you with Gwyn, then it means, that he knew how to get to the Klin and he wanted something from Gwyn. Something really important, 'cause he had to turn back and go back to the Firelink Shrine.

Yeah, I know this much, but of all parts that seemingly has been removed from the game, solaire's seems to still be there.
