Just want your opinions here. Beckon

Do you consider either of these weapons competitive? Why or why not? Shrug

Have you ever created a build around either of them? If so, share. Proper Bow

How often do you encounter other players using these weapons? Shrug

How do you feel about the design of the Dragon Greatsword and Dragon King Greataxe in general? Shrug

Both are good if you know how to use them
But the DKGA is better just because you can buff it.
I've never created a build around them, but my str builds use them sometimes.
I rarely see other people using them, and most of the time it's people who try to get you behind corners/on bridgers with the r2s.

i like to use the dragon greatsword on my dragon cov. toons. as far as a build goes, i get to 34 strength as soon as i possibly can, usually with a soul level in the low 30s, and 2-hand the greatsword with a grasscrest shield on my back, i also find that the extra defense it provides helps when rolling in dragon body form, i swap the grasscrest shield for the blood shield for the extra resistances when in dragon form as well.

i haven't used the dragon king axe yet, the requirements are just high to be worth while, not having scaling and what not. the same could be said for the Dragon Greatsword, but it is substantially easier to wield, though both are also easily replaced with +15 weapons even with the minimum required stats needed to wield the dragon weapons. i also like the R2 of the Dragon Greatsword more.

i can't say i have ever encountered either of the dragon weapons in pvp. i may have but it happens so rarely that i don't even remember? i have seen the obsidian greatsword a number of times since the dlc though.

how they look design wise? they are okay, i think i would have liked something a little different though. i don't think i like the design of the obsidian greatsword at all though.

their place in the game design wise? again they are okay, i would like to see the requirements reduced slightly so they would be more appealing early on, but still easily replaceable by scaling weapons later on. without scaling, it's hard to justify the investment in a stat that the weapon doesn't actually take advantage of. the obsidian greatsword is a good effort by FROM in this regard.

the dragon kings buffability is not to be underestmiated, especially if you use hidden weapon on it that way they cant see the explosion coming, also the dragon greatswords r2 shockwave can travel up walls or in a diagonal line down from a ledge. also the dragon gs has the same moveset as the zwei so its good for that too in addition to the defense bonuses provided.

Not often enough. sad Their 2H-R2 specials are the most fun attacks to parry in PvP--they never expect it! lol

If you make a build around one, you could take advantage of the fact that they have no scaling. Just have enough Str to 2-hand it. The downside to this, though, is that it severely restricts your moveset. You'd be down to only R1, rolling-R1, running-R1, and the R2 specials. So you'll need to be very careful not to get parried using them.

I like the Dragon Greatsword; when someone tries to apply DMB or SLB to their weapon they get to eat a big fat shockwave to the face. It's a bit shorter than the other UGS' so its dead angling powers are a bit limited compared to the Zwei or DGM, but it's a fun weapon to use.

I have created build for both of them. Love them both. they destroy in PVE, and (like most other weapons), become quite effective in PVP with practice.

I had a DGS build that cooped in Anor for ages, god only knows how many invaders I killed and the countless time I took down O&S.

In my experience with the DGS and the DGA, i prefer the greatsword because of its sweeping attack, and because it has the move set like the Zwei. I also owned gankers with it in the forest. what i thought most useful about the two is people backing off cuz they don't want you to two hand R2 them, gives me more time to think a stradegy. But the DGA, i don't use great axes much, so I probably have a bias attitude for the DGS.
