Weapon Strength/Param Bonus Empty Weapon Strength/Param Bonus

    Hey!

Its me again with another question. Yesterday i "found" the Drake Sword... The physical damage is 200. Thats the highest value of all listet short swords. Why isnt this weapon good in later game? I think this is more a question of understanding the general weapon/damage system in DS.

Maybe someone could give me a link or explanation of the maths silly? I would be very thankfull!

The Drake Sword has no stat scaling whatsoever. That is; levelling your stats will never increase how much damage it deals. At 40 STR, a regular Longsword +15 outdamages a fully levelled Drake Sword. (if only just barely)

Take a better STR scaling weapon, like the Mace, and a +5 Drake Sword has 130 less attack rating at 40 STR.

You can use this to compare: http://mmdks.com/cb4

    Also:
    1. Dragon Scales are hard to come by and not really worth investing in the Drake Sword

    2. The moveset of the Drake Sword might seem pretty good early on, but it's easily outmatched later.

    3. It looks absolutely horrible. silly

The main difference is the two-handed R2 attack. The default one used by Longswords etc. is IMO superior to the Drake Sword shockwave because it's a lot more flexible and efficient. (Though the Drake Sword one is superior in certain situations)

I also get the impression than the Drake Sword is a bit slower than most of the other straightswords. That might just be my imagination though.

The drake sword is slower than other straight swords. Like Quellag's fury dildo is slower than other curved swords.
