Curious as how this does in PvP and PvE, i have yet to make a build that can wield it except my 240 mage that i dont want to get it atm silly but anyways, i played with the r2 ability and just curious how the move set is working in combat. looks wicked and new, and might make a build around it big grin

th two handed r2 leaves you really open if it misses.. the one handed r2 is a nice spin with a slow wind up, good for deadangles, otherwise its nice in that it scales with humanity in addition to str and dex.

Whenever I see someone doing 2H R2 it always makes me chuckle a bit. I imagine the user to shout "HELM SPLITTER!" in front of their TV.
I still wonder if I can parry that, but I'm too scared to try. lol!

I jolly co-oped with a guy cosplaying Ole Arty and this guy was something of an Ultimate Grand Master of A$$ Kickery Arty Style. He was using the jumping double hand flip attack off of ledges in the Chasm of the Abyss and just slaying baddies left and right in a violent and graceful succession that thoroughly impressed me. It was a spectacle, indeed.

I thought that the power attacks with it were too slow to be any use, but this warrior had their use down like a BIG TIME MASTER.

Like any item it depends on the way you handle things. The Abyss Greatsword offers range as well as a great moveset. The strong attacks may be hard to handle, but when used at the right time they're deadly as hell. I'll give you one example:

Backstabbing an enemy and then using the 1h strong attack is a killing machine. I can't tell you how many times i've finished people off with that one.

At full scaling its the most powerful great sword in the game (with one dmg type) capable of doing dmg that only Ultra Grt sword should be able to do. however its not buffable and R2 two handed while fun, is dangerous.

Now that they made a improved version of the Greatsword of Artorias, in the new patch they really could make a faster moveset for it. Maybe viable for PVP. Artorias himself, even corrupted, still uses that moveset, but very fast!

It's my preferred weapon of choice right now. Unfortunately, due to being burnt out. I haven't exactly number crunched. I really like it. It seems to have the "pure physical ignore defense" damage. On Dragons and Heavier enemies, I'm still hitting for about 380-450.

(the only numbers I know currently)
