That's a really hard question. There are so many different films I love for so many different reasons. Hard to choose just one and not take genre into consideration.

I think if I were forced to answer I'd say either The Thing, Dead Man, or Vacation. Those are probably my cross genre big 3. Although I'd have to give Das Boot and Dawn of the Dead a shout out.

I really love Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I love the book, and I feel like the movie did a great job of capturing the humor in the books, and also they added in a whole extra part. It's one of those movies I can watch time and time again and still find it funny

Oh my God, hadn't heard a whisper about Prometheus so I expected it to be terrible. Not so. Great movie. David was subtly menacing and overall excellent.
