No it's not; carry a crap ton of indictments into the dueling zone and troll people harder than any other way in the game....

... It would not be hard to make the indictments not work in the arena anyway? In fact do they even work in the arena?

I know it can be frustrating dealing with being invaded, I remember when I started the prospect scared the crap out of me. Something to understand though is what you are describing sounds like players with over powered gear invading you at a low level. Most people like to invade at around the 100 zone, or at least they did when I played. From your description what you are seeing are people with way better gear than you. Either that or they are of a much higher level, but with the BB remnants still around I'd say gear. What level do you usually play at Hurtlocker?
Invasions are a core part of the game and while I'm very kind to those I invade people don't have to be. As long as they don't taunt or send you hateful messages I wouldn't feel too hurt about how others play. Just killing you is a part of the game. If they're sending you hate messages that's another thing entirely.

Invasions are part of the game. It makes this game unique. Watering it down lessens this game. When I invade, my goal is to kill. It is not a duel. I don't expect the host to wait around and let me get ready. I expect them to set traps, surround me with the phantoms, and do everything in their power to kill me. That is what makes it fun. I sure as heck will do that to anyone who invades me.
I invade, I kill the host or die trying. I will always bow afterward. If my host bows, I'll pan the camera first to make sure I"m not going to be ganked, then I'll bow.
Sometimes, I notice that the enemies are cleared, there are no phantoms, and the host is waiting for me. Then, I play more of a duel rules.
If you want to pvp when you are following all the different "rules of etiquette", then summon a red sign or drop your own red soapstone. Otherwise, fighting questers has no rules (and shouldn't have rules), same goes for fighting invaders.

respect is a rather tricky word to use when the goal is to kill or be killed. when we are both fighting to kill the other, how exactly can we respect the other? when i invade a solo host, its almost always a duel anyway, so the general rules of bowing/no healing apply here. if its a host with phantoms, ganking or not, i will take ANY chance to take one of them out. if i invade an afk host. well that's what the dark hand is for.
generally speaking, ill respect the other player as long as they respect me. and in most cases, the reverse is true. however, you can't blame people for playing the game as it was intended, and trying to set rules only limits your scope of available skills. you have to remember, that players job is to kill you before you kill him, and the best way to accomplish that is sneak attacks.

ON my first play through when I was a noob people use to invade my game and **** me all of the time. Im talking about one shot and I was dead. Now I attempt to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. WhenEVER I see the battle is in my advantage I just bow out. I try my best to spare new players. And even if someone invades my game I want to take you on one on one. If I have summons I tell them not to jump in

Respect isn't tricky at all. Its about how much class you decide to show another player in the game. You also need to understand that they may be a casual player and might not have the same experience you may have at playing the game. I try my best to give everyone a fair shake at the stick. If you invade my game I bow and let you get your equipment together. If im able to get a lag stab in than I automatically quit the game. Because again thats an unfair advantage

That is your way of playing and I can respect that. But, your are in the vast minority here. I understand you wanting to share your playing strategies and hope people follow your lead. But, just don't expect people to play the game like you do.

Im sorry that Im in the minority here but I sure that everyone works hard for their money and like to enjoy their video games. And im not going to spoil someone elses playing experience. I mean you kill someone who is lower level than you or not paying attention. What skill does that actually show. It shows no skill to me when you have someone using a fog ring or using the chameleon spell to hide and have your under the impression your in a 1 on 1 battle than as soon as you get the advantage surprise you have two more idiots waiting for you

I always use the chameleon spell... then I spin as fast as I can to confuse the host, if they start to spin as well I know they enjoy fun. If they instantly attack I know they are just grinding more souls.
With the addition of the arena invasions are not really needed any more and given the unfair nature of them, they don't really belong in the game in the first place.

Well the way I found out about it is because my behind got trolled. Down in the catacombs I was fighting the phantom doing good. And the host was a chameleon hiding by the switch. And when we both got on the bridge he turned it. I was pissed off.

Speaking of that boss. Why in the blue hades is he so much harder the 2nd time. The demon sage to me was a push over. But when I went back and fought that guy again he kicked my behind 3 times. and is there a reason why you cant summon here

Dark Souls actually is a very fair game, it's just merciless. If the BB Glitch never existed I'd say the PvP is mostly fair as well.

I use to honestly think the game was fair until I seen all the people who hacked the game. And majority of people dont have a problem with hacking the game. I seen a youtube video earlier about a hacker getting mad that someone used wrath of God to beat them at their own game. If everyone was fair I believe that Dark Souls would have one of the best gaming communities

I don't think you should count hackers as part of game imbalance. They're people breaking the "Laws" of the game.
EDIT: Meant to rep Hurt's post above that one to offset that negative rep. Maybe I should go to sleep, I can barely keep my eyes open.

But again, what's Fair? Fair to me is anything in the game, be it 3v1 Invasion, WoG spamming, Dark Bead, Poison, TWoP, Combustion spamming, or even a MoM flipping tank. Sure, using some of them make you a douche bag, but if it's in the game, it's fair game.
If I am reading your thread right, you think fair is 1v1, give you time to buff your weapon, bow, eat moss, charge eachother with Washing Poles. I can tell you, that is boring as heck to me.
So do I have less fun and subscribe to your rules, or do you have less fun and subscribe to mine?
The answer, is that the aggressor makes the rules.

Dark Souls is hard but fair (for the most part)
Most enemies telegraph their attacks to allow you to block or dodge, with only a few times where you have to resort to silly tactics to win.
Invaders, particularly the honour-less ones, are never fair, able to ambush you in ways the game cannot and adding in the fact the really honour-less ones can usually cheat and one-shot you, and then adding in the Lag-stabbing to make it actually impossible to win... well that not fair at all. Its just a joke.
It stops being a case of "I need to dodge better to win" or "I need to time that parry better" to "I need to turn off my Xbox at the right time to quit out and not corrupt my save, to survive"

On that note then, what if I considered it fun to hack a glitch item into the game that corrupts your save when I drop it in your game? That would be really fun!
And it means I win as you would not be able to beat me again! Of course I would never even try something like this myself, but some people thing this would be alright.
People need to respect other people and their feeling at all times. If we go to the lowest common denominator, even in an anonymous medium, it speaks volumes about our characters as humans.

Ok, I'll bite; how can they one shot you, and how can they ambush you in ways the game cannot? No glitches or Hacks, please.

I can describe cheating ways which are pretty nuts, which he did mention cheaters so I assume that is the sort of things he is talking about. Such as being invincible and invisible when invading the world of another.

But then his problem isn't the "Honorless invaders who kill you in ways the game cannot", but rather the hackers, and we ALL hate them guys.
I'm assuming Cheater = Hacker.
