Hacked Armor drop

So i was just in the Undead Burg trying to pvp, when some guy (i wont say his name because i don't no if its against the rules or not) invaded me. At first i thought we were just going to do our the usual gestures and then fight, but that was not the case.

After the gestures he just stood there. So i'm waiting for him to make the first move, so then he just randomly drops an item. i go over to put it up and its just a crystal great's sword. So then i drop a stone greats sword for him. Then (here's where something weird happens) he drops another item, i pick it up and its says "?ProtectorName?" and i'm like WTF is this? I then go look in my inventory to check it out and its ornstein's armor but with much better stats.

After that the invader the used the wave gesture and left using the black separation crystal. I dont know what to make of this. :?:

This all happened on xbox.

sadly i don't remember , i was to stunned from what just happen to pay attention to what he was wearing.

Your situation isn't that weird. Just Google "Dark Souls Mule" and you'll see guys have been creating accounts and 'muling' eachother which basically means giving them everything. From there its just a matter of finding a friend and using the glitch that let's you drop things without losong them in your inventort and you can create 10 characters with max items by going back and forth with a buddy.

The OP's situation is weird because its a bug or hack.

Op I would drop the item and quit/reload so it goes away. It could cause you problems with your game and result in a corrupted save or who knows what.

I agree with Fed, you don't know what the armor might do to your data, better play it on the safe side.

That's actually a trick he might be playing on you. Using that armor may cause your save data to be deleted as Fed mentioned as a possibility. Hackers have interesting ways of ruining the game for others. In either case, you must destroy it. Climb to Mount Darkroot and cast it into the lake. If you see a thin ganker who wants to use it to kill hunters and is calling it precious, keep your eye on him.

i wouldn't use it. it seems like a trap to me, like Tolvo posted.

Ya know, I would laugh if this is the reason he dropped it to you. Maybe when you drop it someone will get it as a drift item and he'll drop it because he doesn't think it's safe and so on and so forth.

It must be sealed away like other dangerous artifacts!

ivd been looking into this for a while.


It seems that there are a number of cases such as this.

most of the time it seems to happen by some1 coming into there game and dropping this amour.
there is also a sit that i dared not go onto that seemed to let you download a mod or someing for this amour

But surely just picking it up has saved it to his data already? I say use it, as it is already in your save file and won't change anything.
