Pyromancy/Quelaana Lore question Empty Pyromancy/Quelaana Lore question

Post by xMalevolence Mon Feb 13, 2012 10:53 pm

I remember watching EpicNameBro's Lore youtube video about Pyromancy, Quelaana, and her pupil Salaman. In that he mentions that the pyromancer you fight before could be Salaman himself. Which makes sense, he isn't present throughout the entire game until that point and Quelaana does mention something about him going mad ( possibly hollow? )

Well when I first fought this pyromancer before bed of chaos, I assumed it was Quelaana ( at the time I didn't know about Salaman. ) But I instantly dismissed that idea because I went back to where she was in Blighttown swamp and she was still there.

However, when I looked up what enemies could drop red titanite slabs in my strategy guide, in the Lost Izalith section it says that the pyromancer you fight is Quelaana. Which kinda makes sense, she/he drops an Izalith Catalyst and the description of that has almost nothing to do with Salaman and almost everything to do with Quelaana. ( seeing how in the opening cinematic it shows the witches using catalyst like sticks or whatever )

So why is it that she was still in Blighttown? And how can it be her in Lost Izalith if she's the one that gives you Fire Tempest after doing her favour ( going to Lost Izalith and killing the Bed of Chaos )? Is the book just wrong? Which I can see that because it's not 100% accurate and only goes up to patch 1.04. And am I an idiot for bringing this up because it's already been confirmed/dismissed/discussed? Someone clarify for me please and thank you.

The way I see it and believe, there are 7 Daughters of Chaos, the Witch of Izalith, and an unseen Son of Chaos, as mentioned in the Orange Charred Ring.

The Bed of Chaos is the Witch of Izalith. The two orbs near it are two of the daughters. A third guards the Bed of Chaos. Quelaana is a fourth. Queelag and her Sister are the fifth and sixth. Then there's the seventh, dead at the alter before Ceaseless Discharge, with Ceaseless being the Boy, watching over the body of one of his sisters, likely the one or one of the ones who crafted the Orange Charred Ring.

that makes sense, so I'm assuming the strategy guide is just wrong? However I hate that Salaman doesn't seem to be in the game other than in text.

Try staggering the the hollow pyromamcer that guards the bed of chaos. If it sounds like a female, discard Salaman and maybe it is Quelaana gone hollow, as failing to destroy the Bed of Chaos. The Quelaana that appears in Blighttown is maybe a ghost, as when you meet her she says: "how could you see me or find me" something like that. Laurentius went too search for her but he couldnt see her as his pyromancy flame was not maxed +10. Pre version 1.05 the only way to find Quelaana was to have pyromancy flame +10.

Plenty of characters don't make an appearence. The list is long.

And I like Kyubi-Nick's explanation of the 7 daughters. 7 seems to be a special number in this game doesn't it?
