Gwyn, you're not so hard!

Well Iron Knight Tarkus made it to Gwyn last night, and to my surprise absolutely creamed him! :affraid:

It was a straight up NG fight, no buffs (at least not on my part), with not a single P&R in sight, and I still managed to take him down with barely a scratch on me. I had a +6 20 Estus, and came away from the fight with a +6 20 Estus, it was that one-sided.

Mind you, I shouldn't be at all surprised as none of the Bosses up to Gwyn have been that much of a challenge, and to prove just how overpowered my SL107 Warrior currently is I failed to blag the Moonlight Sword off of Seath a short while earlier who died before I could get the drop, even though every R1 hit from my +15 Greatsword landed on his baldy-arse tail!

So I am once again in NG+ territory, and so far it feels more like a speed-run than it's does a normal playthrough, as I am yet to rest at a single bonfire, even though the Asylum Demon, Pinwheel, the Taurus Demon, the Bell Gargoyles, the Capra Demon, the Gaping Dragon, and everything inbetween, have all fallen in mega quick succession to this bad-arse Knight of mine.

I know the wall is coming, and when I hit it I suspect that I'm gonna hit it hard. But for now I pretty much own Lordran, and I have to say it feels GOOD!!!

You should try taking him on with Solaire in tow once. I find that it doesn't make an incredible difference as far as the fight itself goes, but it always feels more epic to me when I have the sunbro backing me up.

I would, but I can never seem to find his damn summon sign, even though I open the Izalith shortcut to kill the sunlight maggot, and follow his questline religiously.

You know where it's supposed to be right? At the top of the stairs leading down to Gwyn's chamber. His quest line is really finicky anyway. It took me a couple tries to work out all the kinks.

Yeah, turn left at the top before going down, right?

I guess he's just grown tired of being my co-op bud by that time, and has buggered off to God only knows where!

I dunno you kill the guy once to get his armor and shield, and he treats you like **** from thereon in. Like get over it Sunshine!

Too bad you didn't manage to chop off Seath's tail. I wanted an opportunity to post this thing I found on tumblr the other day. Guess I'll do so anyway.

hahaha. Yeah actually my very first interaction with Solaire was a not so nice sneaky BS. I thought he was an enemy so I dealt with him accordingly.

Yeah you've got the location right. The part with the chaos bugs is usually what trips people up. What I've read, and usually what works for me, is that if you nail the one that drops the Sunlight Maggot before you enter Lost Izalith than you're good, but according to a lot of what I read sometimes it doesn't even show up for some people. The first couple of times I did it and made it work I used the Slumbering Dragon Crest Ring and the Fog Ring before I opened the Izalith short-cut so I could hunt the bugs without them seeing me and trying to get away. It works pretty well if that's the part you think you're having issues with.

One thing that I am pretty cheesed off about though is that, being so damn eager to get Tarkus around to NG+, I completely forgot to go back to the Chaos bonfire to pick up Kirks armor after defeating him for the third time in Lost Izalith!

It's a bit rough around the edges (I'm at work, and so it was a bit of a rush job), but that's me to a tee!

Ha ha! You'd better watch out for my combine harvester though.

As far as getting solaire to survive lost Izalith goes, I usually clear out the shortcut once before taking on the demon fire sage, then again after killing the centipede demon. Worked for me both times so far. Also, the bugs jump directly away from you, so you can control where they go. Mostly if I am trying to get all of them to save solaire I use my bow so they can't go backwards towards where he will be.

Also, as previously stated, the summon sign is directly on your left after crossing the bridge to reach the damaged spiral staircase in the kiln of the first flame, near the rubble.

You really make me want to do a Tarkus playthrough. Maybe even a PvP build.

Heh, the first time I met Gwyn I knew he was all about the flame attacks so tooled up on Black Iron armour, the flame ring, and flop sweat... only to watch Gywn eat me alive...

So I dropped all the armour, took a small shield and parried him to death without taking a hit... Sort of felt a bit anticlimactic... lol
