Can anyone help me obtain the Speckled Stoneplate ring?

I've tried this with the Siegmeyer quest a half dozen times, and it always ends with his daughter crying over his dead body...the two of them are never alive. I've followed the steps according to this wiki, but something seems to go wrong. Does anyone know the precise dialogue that needs to occur?

I always talk to the daughter at the firelink, then go help Siegmeyer in Izalith. He says he'll take a nap, and I go back to see the daughter one more time. Then when I get to Ash Lake, he's always dead. Am I missing something?

Kill them all and don't let him fight, that should do it. Worse case, just kill him and he'll drop it.

So I can just kill Siegmeyer at any time and he'll drop it? Wish I'd thought to do that before now

If he falls to his death it will appear at the gate where you first meet him.

Got it...thanks for the suggestion; not sure why I didn't think of just doing that earlier. Probably because I always wanted both the ring and the slab.

Can't get both unless you have him survive, then kill him for the ring. You'd also be fighting his daughter as well this way.

Murder them. Don't forget to drain their humanity first. Sieglinde (or whatever her name is) has a crap load of humanity.

Man, he sure hits hard with that broadsword. Took about 80 percent of my health in one swipe.
