Different cutscene for Sif Empty Different cutscene for Sif

Post by hageshisa Tue Nov 27, 2012 4:33 pm

Sup guys! I rarely hang around these parts of the forum so I don't know if this is well-known or "news". I actually noticed this a couple of days after the release of the DLC, but since I'm not that hardcore I havn't killed Sif enough times to remember his cutscene. Also I've never really killed him more than 8-10 tmes, and that was long ago.

But when I need to kill him after I beat the DLC I noticed that there's a different cutscene when you go to kill Sif in Darkroot Garden. He acts like you've have met before, which I believe is awesome (and obvious).

I also don't know if my next statement is obvious or foolishn but does that prove that the player is the one who killed Artorias back in the days?

Sorry if I'm being a total noob, I'm not much into the lore =/

I was actually disappointed that you still had to fight him after your interactions with him in Oolacile. What is it about? Honour? You have to get past me, his guardian, to get his ring? By now, Sif should know the chosen undead is a cool fella.

I'd wager Sif's logic is more along the lines of "The Abyss claimed Artorias. I cannot let the same fate befall you."

It's about honor and fraternity. Artorias was his brother in arms and he vowed to guard his grave, no matter what or who.

If only we could speak to him....but if it was that.

"Sif...bro! Come on we took down Manus..what's a bunch of sissy 4 kings gonna do? Spit on me? Bleed on me maybe? Who knows!"

I like to believe that he really does not want to fight us, but has to. After he recognizes you, he howls. Not necessarily out of sadness, but almost mourning the fact that the day finally came where he had to fight the person who saved him to protect the grave of Artorias, who also saved him

This is how I see it too. I think he's trying to protect us, and maybe test us at the same time. I really like the connotations that this idea has on Alvina and the forest guardians too. Seeing that she appears protecting him both in the past and the present says to me that she's actually doing the same thing for one reason or another.

That's what I reckon. He knows that the fight's going to end in either of you dying, hence the heartbreaking howl. Damnit From, you managed to make one of the saddest fights ever even more poignant.

I think he would rather kill us than let us be corrupted by the Abyss like Artorias.
