Yes, you can farm them from the darkwraiths in New Londo. However, the drop rate is extremely low.

you'll need 10+ humanity @ the covetous serpent ring or its a total waste of effort. it borders on one even then, you're going to have to set aside a few hours.

100 darkwaiths if you're lucky. I have 99 chunks, 24 dark hands, and about another 20 chunks left on the ground all from farming this week alone. Human form with 410 item discovery. No slabs.

Easier to do another run through NG+ (+++ etc.)....

I recommend just doing consecutive NG+ etc for A) fun and B) less annoying C) wont be stupidly low chance of drop

Yeah - sometimes you get lucky. I gave up farming after countless hours for nothing. Then the other day, I went to get some more chunks and got 2 slabs in 10 runs. Sweet! For some reason you seem to get another if you keep doing runs after getting the first. I've heard other people mention this too.

What Serious said. It might actually be faster to do it that way too, the drop rate is so low.

in the great hollow, in the first crystal geko area. i've manged to get 3 slabs in 3 consecutive attempts (with different characters) which has actually increased my slabs per play through to 3. which is really good. has anyone else had similar success?

I got one in my last great hollow run. It was pretty awesome. I max out at 2 per play though, because I hate the Siegmeyer quest.

My original char got a slab off the crystal lizard in the burg, the one in the barrel. This of course made me think it wasn't really a valuable item and I think I blew it on some random piece of equipment. Never got anything useful off that lizard again either.
