Sometimes, Dark Souls rewards karma

I got myself into the goofiest situation yesterday. I'd been down in the Depths with a new low level toon, farming humanity from the rats, and putting down signs to help people with GD. Racked up a good number of souls for my work. Then as I was walking back out, I got killed from a stupid mistake. Not a big deal. So, I threw down my sign one more time, and headed back to get my souls.

On my way to get the souls, I spotted the SHINY that's just below one of the slime creatures, and went to pick it up. So what happens? It drops on my face(before I had my souls back). Then it gets worse. Because I was so close to the corner of the small alcove, I ended up pinned and in the maw of this thing. Couldn't roll, couldn't hit it. I could just stand there getting slowly digested (In hindight, I guess I could have quit out).

Just as I'm thinking I'm screwed, and about to lose my MASSIVE number of souls, the message flashes on the screen: YOU ARE BEING SUMMONED. I couldn't believe my luck...perfect timing. And as soon as the fight was through, I spawned back into that spot, but immediately dodged away, souls intact!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the answer to this: If I lose my souls, respawn, then put down my sign and get summoned, are the souls gone for good if I die in someone else's boss fight? Or would it spawn me back and still give me one chance to get to them in my game?

I'de imagine since you didn't die in your world that they would still be there.

Something like this happened to me too lol. I was down in Sen's getting some Demon titanite and I ran out of Estus Flasks (this was when I was still not used to fighting the Demons). So I backed up a bunch to use a homeward bone, right as my character kneeled the Demon leaped in the air to crush me.

My heart stopped for a second, and RIGHT as he was about to hit me I teleported to the bonfire. I just sat at the bonfire for about 20 minuets while I calmed down lol. Scared the hell out of me XD.

I believe for WhIte SIgn summonings the souls will stay there, but Ive lost them for both Invading and Red Sign summonings.

When you die as a White/Blue Phantom you wont lose your Souls upon dying in the Hosts World and it wont affect your current Bloodstain either .

However if you die as a Red Phantom you wil lose your souls and replace your current Bloodstain (ie Souls go byebye)


Im not too sure about the Red soapstone and the Dragon Stone though

i'm not so lucky, this game hates me.

when i stand to loose a bloodstain filled with copious amounts of humanity and souls the game finds ways to make sure i don't make it back to them…sliding of a ledge i'd traversed a hundred times before, gang banged by mobs that agro well out of there range, and my favorite, being summond just before i get to my souls only to appear as a red instead of a white and then get spawn ganked before i can crystal the hell out of there.

i must love the abuse cause i keep coming back for more.
