This is nothing special, infact It's probably a common build now, But I wanted to see if this sword was all it was cracked up to be. And I was not disappointed.
CMW for PvE and PvP alike.
Demon spear for mid ranged pokes/finishes.
Armor is mostly for style, Big hat is a staple head piece of mine.
Can switch to any small/medium shield, remove gloves to hold black knight shield and fast roll.
This is my first time basing a build around the sword, so let me know what you think or if I should change anything.

Wait... You can buff that thing? Criminy, I'm idiot! Look Skyward

And those elemental defenses that the Big Hat grants are downright ridiculous. :pharis: (Since there is no Big Hat smiley... ::hint, hint:: )

Well it's definitely not a bad build setup for the Obsidian Greatsword. big grin

I would suggest some stamina recovery through Mask of the Child but seeing as how you want to stay stylish I'll keep that off the table. Something that you may definitely want to consider on the other hand is starting as a Wanderer class character. This way you will still remain within the SL 100 arena bracket, and have an extra attunement slot for the spell Hidden Body, which helps immensely when faced with the new DLC "Dark" spells.

    May the flames guide thee!

This is mostly to see how much endurance I needed to keep a fast roll
I will probably use the grass crest shield most of the time(unless I face magic or pyromancy)

Very nice, although assuming that this is your arena build, how exactly will you be healing yourself? This is key to the success of any arena build, and I can assure you that those players on the leaderboards did not get there without the use of some sort of healing miracle. I already see what must be done and I'm sure you do as well. Obtaining the ability to heal will give you a definite edge over the competition.

I think with that set-up you wanna dex wep. I been using the Obsidian a bit lately below sl50. It's a nice wep. I think you gonna need a bit more poise tho. What about this:

If you want to win badly, go for the heal. If you want to optimize your build, dont.

    btw, isnt arena dead?

I haven't been in the arena very much, but I got consistent matches when I was. Maybe I just got lucky, I'm not sure silly

To be honest I don't feel like going the full on faith route is the best option for this type of a build. Crystal Magic Weapon is far superior to both Sunlight Blade/Darkmoon Blade and losing it will more often than not, leave the Obsidian Greatsword build in an awkward position. Just to give you some sort of an idea for fixes, I will show you my personal Obsidian Greatsword build.

    1800 HP
    Max Stamina
    Increased Stamina Regeneration
    75 Poise
    http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=358122397477983824

I consider this build to be my masterpiece. There is not a single point wasted. There are no other weapons in the game that deal such a high amount of base damage with Stat investments this low into STR/DEX/INT/FAI. In that regard I commend you for seeing the weapons potential.

Take your time tweaking your build where it's necessary, and making the fixes that fit your personal playstyle. With this I leave you to the creation of your final build.

    Most importantly, just have fun!
