Question about being invaded

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum but have been playing Dark Souls for a few weeks now. I don't really play pvp because I'm not very good at it.
However, sometimes, as you know, when you become human you run the risk of invasion. I've won a few but mostly lost. Anyway,
I was just roaming the Royal Woods in the DLC and got invaded and I have a +15 Claymore but my hits were only doing 3 to 6 damage to the guy. Obviously I lost. The other critters in the woods were taking a lot of damage with my +15 Claymore.
What would he have been using to reduce the damage this much and what can I do about it the next time this happens? It was frustrating to say the least.

Do you play on Playstation, Xbox, or PC?

If he wasn't hacking he could have been using a Shield buff. Was he blocking your hits or just taking them?

and what are your stats?

Iron flesh plus a heavy armor set and maybe the ring of steel protection is my best guess.



Although that would just be very high physical damage resistance, if your attacks are not effective, try changing damage types.

He didn't have heavy armor. He was using the dwgr and flipping around quite a bit. I was able to get some good shots on him because he wasn't always using a shield. I am level 103. 38 str, 32 dex can't remember at the moment what other stats are. Quite a bit in endurance as well. He was using souls arrows as well. He had to be a mage I think. His rapier was blue tinged so it had some spell on it.

I'm also on xbox.

Is your weapon broken? Do you repair it frequently?

Was he losing 3-6 health consistently? Because if so then maybe you weren't hitting him at all and he was just Power Withining/Poisoned or something.

Weapon was in good shape. I checked after the fight. Maybe he was just avoiding my hits. Like I said I'm not good at pvp and I thought I was getting good hits. Who knows. I was holding my own for a while although not getting any good damage on him. Then a couple of scare crows and a stone giant got into the fray. I got distracted and then back stabbed twice and the fight was over. Just thought there was a spell that was giving him excellent defense and maybe a counter to it that I don't know about. I don't do magic much in the game other than pyro.

It's possible that he was using a shield buff or blocking your hits and there was enough lag that it just wasn't appearing that way to you. Stuff like that does happen sometimes.

A: Huge defense (Since he was flipping, i'd guess not)
B: Lag (IT'S ALWAYS THE LAG)
C: A failed parrry? (Dunno what it's called but when you parry to late and you still take damage and it drains a lot of stamina)
D: He maybe mixed some Leggins or Arms? I mix Black Iron Legs and and Black Iron Arms with my AWESOME COAT and i can still jump (Fast Roll) around with Havels. (High Endurance too.)

Either one of those or maybe a Hacker?

When you barely hit/miss someone, whether pve or pvp, it'll register tiny damage like that. Happens to me frequently doing co-op for Manus. 36 str and a +15 Zwei will do 8 damage if it just barely connects.

Not terribly uncommon in pvp, especially against flippers, but sort of strange if it kept happening over and over.
