A Mortal Kombat tournament. In my country, Argentina. It's a mere local tournament, but there's gonna be lots of people, and is sponsored by some serious companies like Microsoft, EA, Intel, and some local companies.

I'm nervous, I don't wanna lose on the first round! The shame would be unbearable. To be honest, I'm playing for the prize,

    for the 1st place:

    • 1000 pesos (would be like $200 US dollars),
    • Intel "merchandising" (not sure what they mean with this, are they going to gift some a intel T-shirt? lol),
    • an EA game (I suppose it's my choice, because it's not specified which one, it just says "an EA game")
    • Audio system Samsung DA-E550 (some strange audio **** I would sell)
    2nd place:

    • 500 pesos ($100 us dollars)
    • An EA game.
    3rd place:

    • An EA game
I know 200 dollars doesn't sound as much, but it counts for just playing for 3 hours one day! And it's mere fun to play against good people, the challenge, etc.
I just hope I'm good enough, I've practicing with Cyrax a lot, 67% combos all the way! And I can do 50% damage combos with only 1 bar. I just have to do "field" practice, I have to train at dodging attacks, predicting my opponents moves and all that.

Now one of my main issues is that the game will be played on Xbox 360, and I play on PS3, I created a thread some time ago to ask for help finding a good adapter to plug my PS3 controller in a Xbox 360, but no one helped sad, so I ask that here again!
Any advices for a guy that never played in tournaments? Do you guys played in any tournament of any game? How did you prepare for it? How to deal with the "I don't know if I'm good enough" feeling?

The tournament will be the 14th of December, the same day the Hobbit is released! Oh my god, I will have to go watch it in the morning.

I had a feeling like that before. Then I proceeded to get utterly crushed.
    So yeah...confidence.
Also make sure you know how to fight against every character. That's all I can really tell you.

Edit: Did you try the Cronus adapter?

I've seen it, but only way to buy them is by ordering from them? Or do they spread it internationally? I mean the tournament is in 15 days so, I can't wait too much time for a delivery to arrive.

Note: This is horrible advice that I recommend no one ever tries.

All I can tell you is to stay calm and focused. I know it's been said a thousand times, but don't go in there thinking you're going to lose. When you're fighting, just remember your past victories. Treat it like one of those games and you should be set.

Good luck and I expect you to win! So, I'm going to participate in a tournament... and I'm nervous! 1447589260

Thank you guys for the support, I will keep practicing until the day of the tournament, I'm still looking for adapters, the Cronus looks great but I would have to order it by an international delivery and it would take too long. Any other options? If possible it should be famous, that way it it would be possible that the local stores around here have it.

I don't know about adapters, but maybe you could look into fight sticks--they're probably better for fighting games anyways, no? That way you could practice on it, and it'd be the same for both consoles. Best case scenario is you find one that's compatible with both PS3 and 360. Or see if you can borrow a 360 version from someone, and you get the PS3 version to practice on.

Good luck in the tournament, I'm sure you'll do great!

What bloodpixel said. Making sure that you can counter all characters and their moves and combos is just a +, so make sure you practice that, as well as practicing on all or one character, depending on how you wish to play. Knowing all characters weakness is good as well. Just keep practicing and i wish you luck! Please do share how things went once you're done as well. happy

It would easier to practice with a Xbox 360 controller silly, but no it's not always better. The problem here is that I'm used to the PS3 controller, I do all my "pro" moves with that joystick, I can't change now, I don't have enough time to get used to a new controller.
