I'm wanting to try Invading low levels.

But I don't know where or how to start.

See, I'm planning on making myself kindof like a..mini boss, if you will, for the newbies. (New people, not the insult "Noobs".)

I'm not gonna have super powerful equipment, just normal stuff that anyone around the area I'm invading in would have.

So I need a bit of help, could someone give me a reference build and maybe suggestions where to start? Because I'm totally clueless.

I'de like the Wolf Ring, to simulate how hard it is to stun some of the regular enemies in the game, to start with at least.

That is a very generic request. What weapons do you like to use? You want weapons with low weight and low stat requirements, so pick a couple that you like to use.

Any pyro? GC is very good.

How do you want to play? Fast/furious, sneaky, overpowered, etc.

I got a lot of action between 20 and 40, in virtually any pre-anor londo locations.

go raw, low poise armor......Falchion or BSS

Invade with just the Cestus and punch them to death. Or use a really OP looking but unupgraded weapon, like Smough's hammer +0 or something.

I would say go SL15-20 and invade undead parish. Use +5 fire weapon of choice, unless you feel that is too powerful. Maybe have that for if you run into a host and some summons, and have a +5 raw weapon for solo hosts.

The armour is better than what you'd normally have at this point, but you'd have to sacrifice your fast roll. You can add a shield, but to be fair to the (potentially) new players you invade it should be okay to just stick to two-handing the weapon.

Pyromancy is honestly ludicrously overpowered in the early areas. It's annoying to have a 750hp character instakilled by a single Pyromancy. One slot for Great Combustion to kill off summons should be okay.

Oh, and personally speaking I think it would be cool to have an appropriate username for this sort of character too. Like, "Knight King Rendal" or something.

An invading phantom miniboss huh? That actually sounds like a pretty good idea to put up a small challenge for a new player. The only issue I could see is going out and becoming too overpowered. Although it seems Rarayn made a good build for invading low levels.

@Grin: Yeah, that's exactly what I'm trying to be careful of. I definently want people to have a chance to kill me. I'm acting as part of the game after all, nothing competetive lol.

The only annoying part about doing this..I'm gonna have to beat the 4 kings on a really low level x_X. Thaaaaaat's gonna suck.

Good idea. Although in practice, you will more than likely be invading experienced players working on another alt.

If you can get through the content at low lvl and don't mind being unoriginal, I'd suggest "cosplaying" a real boss - wearing their armor and a same type weapon (saying same type because most boss weapons require pretty high stats, out-leveling the low lvl zones).

However, as mentioned above, you'll most likely run into experienced player's alts.

Whatever you do, good luck and don't forget to be fair to the newbies - not steamrolling them too much.

This is an interesting idea. I don't invade much anymore, but from a player experience perspective some things I'd recommend if you are serious about acting like a miniboss and not just griefing noobs:

-- make a dedicated user ID that makes your intent more obvious from the get go invasion message they see. Not the usual xXImmaGutUXx or whatever, but like "Parish_BP_Boss" or something.

-- Act like a miniboss; don't overpursue or chase them all around the level like a regular old invader, but just take over an area and aggro on them whenever they try to enter it. Like if I were new to the game seeing a red phantom standing in the lower level of the church like they owned it and attacking me whenever I tried to enter would be intimidating as hell, almost worse than if they just chased me around normally.

-- I agree with others to lay off the pyro or other things real noobs (and yes there are still lots) won't have seen much of. No challenge in it for you, and they won't learn anything eating a fire tempest at that point either. Pick some basic weapons, maybe a few ranged attacks or spells, and stick to them.

You'll definitely have to deal with OP pros who have new characters and/or summons, but so do the regular bosses. I think if you do this right it could be really fun and definitely ramp up the experience for new players at that level.

Would be even cooler if, as I said in my earlier post, he picked a name that actually sounds like it's from the game. Being invaded by Dark Spirit King Rendal of Balder in the Parish sounds nice, no?

Yes indeed, I'm tempted to completely steal this idea myself. The problem is that I'm such a softie that I'd end up letting most folks go, although I suppose taking a bunch of beatings from BB glitcher remnants might change my tune after a while.

a good idea might be to black crystal out if they do enough dmg but dont seem like they have what it takes to beat you but leave a humanity or something.
