How to Deal with Forest Gankers...

This tactic has worked in pretty much every invasion in the Forest. Mostly against 2 Vs 1 cases and some in 3 Vs 1. I use it since i hate gankers and i wanna make their experience horrifying!

(You Need. Ring of Fog, Hornet ring and Backstab weapon and Menu skills)
So. When you invade, look if the Host and his fellow gankers are standing near the ''HQ'' of the Forset Hunter covenant (The building with the Cat and Bandit guy), If they are there. Run up so they can see you, 90% of the Time they'll start to run after you.

When they're running, equip the Ring of Fog (WHILE RUNNING. You don't want it equiped unless they're spawn camping) and run Towards the area with All those tree Dudes. They will Cover your enscape and let you have time to hide.

When the Gankers get's close and starts figting, you'll sneak up on the Host (Or Phantom) and give him a Nice scar in the Back. Most of the time they will be fighting the Tree Dudes and won't notice you coming up. When you backstab the Host (With hornet ring), Unleash Hell.

AND THAT'S HOW YOU DEAL WITH GANKERS.
(I mostly use this tactic when they're 3 guys since that's.Just.Unfair...)

I feel like I'm bringing myself down to their level if I run and hide behind PvE skirts, so I just use the trees. That said, so far I have a 0% success rate. Only been ganked a handful of times, though. But honestly, it doesn't bother me too much. I figure if I'm invading their world they can treat me however they want.

The trees are just to distract. You are the one starting the Chaos. When you Backstab one of them (Mostly the Host since he can Heal both of them) they're gonna panic since they're being attacked by Annyoing enemies and suddenly one of them lost a Good Chunk of HP.

most of the time i invade theyve killed everything in the forest which is kinda annoying but i like the challenge it brings, i usually try to take them on in the trees since i can separate them and have a chance to kill all of them, the worse thing you can do is go up to them and take them on in an open area.

You really want to know how to defeat Gankers in the forest?

I usually do this too, but I like to open with running from them and jumping over the ravine. I practiced that jump over and over until I could nail it every time. Usually at least one summon will try to follow you, and in the best of circumstances he wont make it, though even if he does he's just separated himself from the group, giving you more of a fighting chance, and providing you with extra time for another forest guardian to show up and get your back.

This is part of why I was enjoying the Royal Woods for pvp so much before its graphics started tweaking out. There's all kinds of gaps over pits in there that you can jump over with a little practice.

Oh man those evil forest gankers Now that my DLC is hosed, I might come join you forest cov guys. I have been trying a short Darkmoon run as a noob invader, it's hard! Never been an invader before.

Last weekend I was playing evil host ganker in the forest 160 NG++ (I was actually Co-Op clearing the forest, then Hydra, then Sif). I get invaded instantly, which is fine. So I spend a while fighting invaders.

So I finally decide to get back to Co-Op, Moonlight Butterfly is dead, but I still want my phantom to help me with the Hydra, so I go to the cliff shortcut down to darkroot basin. Oh and what do I find, a forest hunter that jumped down there to stop my evil ganking shenanigans. He was idle with his face against a wall, the guy obviously left his game on to prevent another forest hunter from spawning. Well, he died by backstab sadly. Then we continued on jolly Co-Op and killed the Hydra and the crystal golems. Then I said bye and thanks to my phantom and went to pick up my DLC pendant at dukes.

in all the time in vading i have only met about 4 gank squads that didnt kill the cats so thats not really a good strategy. most of the times i invade theyre either clearing the forest or already cleared it.

I always feel like they see me easily even when I have fog on...like they run straight at me when I can JUST see their phantom w/o it while I'm wearing it. Hmm.

Unfortunately, most gankers clear the forest ahead of time. If they don't, the ents can be useful on NG+ or more games.

It's worth noting what kind of builds the gankers have. If they don't have good ranged, there's an area not too far from the ents + one of the spawns where there are a ton of trees next to a little ramp down. There is an edge near the cliff with only 1 way into it - a narrow pass where it is easy to get knocked off. This is an excellent place to hide/camp on gankers, because unless they have big AOE spells it's very hard for them to dislodge you. I've killed numerous gankers by casting fire tempest, having them attempt to interrupt it but hit a tree, then roasting them alive (or the knockback pushed a host off the cliff a few times).

The other typical ganker response is to try to pincer you with bows. If they do that, you can charge out on whoever is near you though since the area they have to shoot from the other side actually takes a while to reach from the entry point near those trees. If the guy runs just go back to the camping spot. This situation can be excessively bad for THEM if another invader joins, since in trying to reach you they're often split up.

If your shield has good magic block (crest shield or stone shield), this can be tremendously obnoxious...even more so if you have a few heal spells since charging someone camped out there is risky.

As a last resort, you can drop down and you're near a ledge. If someone is stupid enough to chase you there right away instead of going around and cutting you off, you can easily blast someone off the cliff down there too or once again get a temporary 1v1.
