In the Wiki armor section, it says that the SK armor is one of the preferred sets for fighting the kings. Any idea why? The magic defense doesn't seem that remarkable.

It's high poise, and it is easy to get. You can sit and spam R1 without getting stunned, then heal when you need to.

Oh, I see. You get the extra poise, without all the weight that Havel's has.

i would say the painting guarding or dingy sets would be the best for them because of the awesome magic defense.

I see the reasoning behind this, but I almost wonder if the wiki should really make that kind of statement, since it's kind of subjective opinion. If I'm a mage, I may not wear heavy armor. I was just curious about the benefits against magic use, since it left me with the impression it had special stats that were useful against magic.

Since the fight is a DPS race, for non-magic users it's generally better to have the high poise and focus all of your stamina into constant attacking for the most DPS. If a melee build tries to be constantly dodging then they're hurting their overall DPS by spending some time and stamina towards something that's not attacking. A mage doesn't have to worry about this because spells cost no stamina and do enough burst damage that they can afford to be dodging around without a significant DPS loss. When it comes to the Stone Armor, it really is simply the most easily accessible heavy armor in the game, and so the simplest choice of optimal armor for the tanking strategy, no subjectivity involved

but you never get stunlocked by them, they hit you once then they wait for a couple of secs to attack again. i go in with(insert whatever build you have) and just go to town on the r1 and kill them before they spawn and the damage they do its kinda low and i have time to heal when they back out.

This is also my position on all these "tips" or "strategies", that sometimes are not even good, and are badly written.

you guys have to keep in mind that these tips were written by guys in the forum early in the games life so its more towards newbies and like stated before in the early life of dark souls we saw the stone armor A LOT in both pve and pvp.

I used the Stoned Knight armor for the Four Kings boss fight at level 75. It helped out a hell of alot.
It has my approval.
