Faith Build PVP tactics you thought wouldn't work Empty Faith Build PVP tactics you thought wouldn't work

I've got a SL 160 faith build that relies on sunlight spears, divine and occult claymore/bastard swords, and an occassional WOG. Up until now it has been for PVE, but I've been getting invaded a lot on NG+++ and have actually been doing well.

The sunlight spear is ridiculously powerful, so much so that every person I have struck with one was either killed or nearly killed and knocked to the ground, allowing a quick and easy follow up to finish. The key is overcoming the slow build up. Two ways I use it is when the enemy has retreated to heal, cast a long spell, or pyromancy. Most the time the spells and pyromancy are quicker than the sunlight spear so you have to be able to kind of judge what they are going to try to do based on their past actions.

The most effective way to get that oh-so satisfying spear skewer is to lure the enemy into a narrow corridor with ample space between you and them. In Sens Fortress and Anor Londo there are many places to make this happen. Just today I killed four invaders with the sunlight spear by getting them to chase me into a hallway and then chuckin Zeus at them. If you are low on health it is easy to bait them this way, because they think you are going to heal. If you can get behind a corner and charge the bolt, then pop out and lock on right as it is ready. Even if they block it it will still do a good amount of damage and stagger them, allowing you to either charge to follow up or get more space.

The way I am using WOG is like this:

I use it early in the fight against an aggressive heavy weapon user, just once since it normally takes half their health. I use it if they are trying to spam attack me (since I have a light build) or have me stuck on some precarious spot where I could fall or something. Once you use it once, everytime after that you pull out the talisman they go fleeing away. It's perfect for when you need some breathing room.

Also, a lot of invaders use that spell that makes them a pot and hide and then backstab you. I always WOG those guys (still, only once!) so that we are both starting the real fight with even health.

I've used it quite a bit like this and nobody has sent me any hate mail. In fact, the only hate mail I got was from a guy that I speared, he complained that it was laggy and it actually missed him. I'm sure on his side it did appear that way, but on mine it was a beautiful homerun. He reinvaded again and I got him with the same trick, ha!

It's seems that I am not that great at the actual straight on fighting (at least not having experience with the lag), but you can make up for that by tricking people, which is even more satisfying.

I got invaded in Anor Londo while I was killing Ricard. I waited on the walkway, below the ladder until the invader appeared up at the top. He just sat up their for a while, we waved, etc. I kept waving and shrugging until he thought it was safe to come down the ladder. He got on and just went down like two steps and then paused to see if I was going to do anything. Once he took another step down I whipped out my talisman and chucked a sunlight spear right up his a s s. I was laughing so hard, but I did feel a little bad for such a cruel trick. I sent him a message "Never trust a woman" (my character is female). He sent back a "lol".

I've got a SL200 chaos server faith dragonhead build that's all over the place when it comes to stats but for some reason he owns people.

A way I got two guys in the forest with the spear was by running to the top of the stairs at the entrance and waiting for them to follow. Right when they got to the bottom of the stairs I charged the spear, and since they were so close they tried to rush me before the spear got off. They chose poor judgement!

Also, against magic abuser's this works sometimes:

If you are close enough to charge them while they are intoning a spell, and get in a hit, they are always going to run away and either heal to try another spell, like one of those quick homing spells. So after I interrupted their spell and they have rolled away I immediately charge a spear. It doesn't work everytime but a lot of times you end up impaling them right as they pop a humanity or start doing that funky magic stuff.

How much damage are you dealing with this thing anyway? Been tempted to get it for a long time, if only because it looks kickass.

It usually does somewhere between 950-1100, depending on the enemies.

I am also using the ring of the suns firstborn and have 60 faith though.

Be warned, however, that it makes a lot of PVE fights really easy. You can take down Seath in just a few minutes with the Sunlight Spear and a few Great Lightning Spears.

If you get to 45 Dex it gets a lot faster. I have a build that relies on lightning spears.

Cool, I didn't know that. Unfortunately I have a low dex and at this level it will take a looooong time to get there.
