Pursuers-Homing Soulmass-???

Has anyone tried to shoot the little spheres around the caster with an arrow to see if it would destroy them?? I know if any of the spheres run into something they are destroyed.

Something that sort of just came to me as I was falling asleep last night. :idea:

i always draw my bow when i host town ship waiting for an invader, if i see a mage build i keep bow out and if they try to cast pursuers i head shot them to cancel. if it's not a mage build i bow as normal.

Well,in that case,nobody should complain about WotG spam.

I don't mind fighting spell casters. I'm working out my tactics for my straight fighting Sunbro. I can dodge pursuers. I can dodge dark beads. But I'm finding it difficult to dodge them at the same time as they come at you at different speeds. One thing that seems to help is to get the mage moving and keep him moving. It becomes more difficult for him to cast both spells. The reason I asked my question is dealing with the mage who is in waiting with the pursuers up and the dark bead primed. So far I get them to come to me with poison arrows or daggers.... but I thought it would be funny if I could knock off the pursuers around him.

That depends, are you invading or looking for a duel? Anything goes for an invasion, but people looking for a duel are looking for an actual fight, not just getting one shotted by a guy who mixes dark bead and pursuers while wearing the crown of dusk and bellowing dragon ring. That's not getting out played, its like the old housewives, stacking equipment until they've got all the edge in the world.

As for how I cope, I change my gear to the dwgr and silver knight spear, just spend the first minute flipping until all that pesky magic is gone, then discover what a spell spammer becomes without spells.

I don't agree with that. That's like playing cheap because you can't beat or want to take a "fair" fight against people who use certain strategies. You're not out of options, you're out of ideas or will to stand against things you're not good to beat yet.

PS: It's cheap. But oh well, besides this, I consider HCSM or Pursuers when first cast after bowing. as a buff so I don't run like a mad man to kill them or to cancel their cast. Also sometimes I see people that cast them right away before bowing, but then turn away and give you his back, and bow, so the projectiles don't trigger.

i look at it two ways, i agree it is cheap and don't always do it but i do sometimes, especially if i seen the person before and know they have multiple stacks of it + Dark beads... but on the other hand pursuers is an offensive spell, if they cast it right away doesn't that say "fight is on"?

i should add i don't bow to casters any more because i always get 1 shot with CSS when i do 8/10 times. and when i play on my caster i notice no one bows either, but when i am on my Dex build everyone bows. So i am not expecting them to cast pursuers and bow i am expecting them t cast pursuers charge in with Dark bead spamming.

I don't think this matters at all. If you want to have a duel w/out magic, fine, I'll take a different char, but that shouldn't mean I don't get to duel ever w/ my magic casters because they focus on casting. I wouldn't expect any other types of characters to not use the best weapons they can, why is that the expectation for Int and Fth builds? Makes no sense to me.

People bow to my mage build just fine.

But all I want to know is can I shoot the magic balls off the spell caster as he stands waiting for me to attack?

I'm not talking about what you shouldn't do, I'm talking about reception. The point is that when you fight a caster whose game is to fill the air with magic and one shot you when you get close, you can't say it was a good game or that you got out played when it all came down to stats and equipment, so...hate mail or disrespect or a very aggro welcome next you visit.

I'm not saying you shouldn't duel, I'm saying you shouldn't be surprised when you are treated as being little different from a dwgr, hornet ring, weapon buff, or a housewife (dead and gone!) user, all of which have been defended by saying "best weapon", "fullest potential", and "using what the game gave them".

Those who feel strongly about casters will get 30 faith just so they can cast Vow of Silence. And then we'll have a conversation about how unfair that is.

I don't really get why people get so mad at legitimate spell casters, particularly below level 100; the mage would have to have built around intelligence and attunement sacrificing everything else if they are going the pure mage route. Why shouldn't they cast their most powerful spells? Are they supposed to just use Soul Arrow with 44 int, and then get 1 shotted with ease by a backstab? A pure mage might be able to one-shot you, yes, but you can sure as hell bet that you can one-shot backstab them. There are legitimate magic users out there, but I don't think they get fair trial.

Spamming spells is different of course, but I got hatemail yesterday after I used ONE cast of Dark Bead after my opponent spammed 5 WotG. I had 36 int, Beatrice's Catalyst and wasn't wearing either the Fairy ears or the Bellowing Dragoncrest ring. Suffice it to say I was stunned! Apparently he was more annoyed because he didn't know I was a mage. That's called being outplayed, son. When I responded to him asking him if he'd prefer me to don the Fairy Ears and spam Pursuers, he shut up pretty quickly

I Great Magic Barrier those B1tches with a the crest shield with 25% role speed and 40 poise also im a mage build and I spell spamm back its awesome its like a war zone that no other invaders who dont have magic even try to enter.

I know that dodging might work for evading Pursuers, Dark Bead, and WotG. GMB works even better. But my favorite method is to take a Stone Greatshield (because I don't have the faith for GMB) and just troll that spell spammer because, with that shield up, I'll take all their spells head on without breaking too much of a sweat. Then, you get the satisfaction of them having nothing but a really bad weapon to fall back on. It's awesome!
