I don't really see what all the fuss about the SKS is about. When I was making my dragon turtle build I was playing around with a lot of different spears and people kept recommending that one. I ultimately went with the pike instead. It's reach is just as good, if not better, I can't remember off the top of my head, I personally think it has a more dangerous moveset, and fully upgraded I think I was doing more damage with it, because you can buff it.

What's the DSS? I hate analogy. I love my Stone Greataxe! It only has an average AR or 500+ but i love it!

Curved Greatswords in general are pretty great. My favourite is the Server, despite it being inferior to its two brothers. It has a beautiful design, and fits my Faith build thematically better than the Murakumo or Gravelord Sword.
