About the dragon bone fist...

The caestus and dragon bone fist are both crappy weapons, i think most of us will agree on that. But i notice that a +14 caestus has more damage than a +5 dragon bone fist. What's up with that? Am i missing something about the dragon bone fist or is it just a completely stupid upgrade?

The Dragon Bone Fist has extremely good STR scaling. If you have high strength, it easily outclasses the Caestus.

Also, they aren't that bad, especially not when buffed with magic.

Having carried out the beginnings of a Caestus only run, I can confirm that by no stretch of the imagination can they be regarded as a crappy weapon (you just need to know how to use them properly), and I was pretty shocked at how easily I was able to take down all of the Bosses up to and including O&S using nothing more than an +10 upgraded pair. In fact the only reason why I gave up was that I couldn't use any of my old characters with the new content, which was a bit of a downer as I was hoping to take that one over to NG+ and beyond. I'll probably create a new Caestus only build, but for the time being have my hands full with my Iron Knight Tarkus run.

The R2 alone is worth it

I suddenly realize my post sounds kinda denigrating. Don't get me wrong, fist weapons are fun and calling it crappy was an exaggeration, i was just pissed off at the tiny reach when i typed this

the dbf gives a magic and fire defense boost... seriously though they made it way too heavy...

I once made a character that I only used fist weapons on, and while the DBF might not seem great, if you can connect an R2 hit in PvP, you'll feel really great about yourself

@BartholomewWenceslas- That would be the sweetest of kills! Not so much for your opponent, as I would imagine they would be mortified, but for you I can imagine you'd feel like the Heavyweight champ of Lordran!

I love the ceastus and dbf, I use them mostly on my off hand since the jab is A LOT faster. And I have killed two people with the r2 of the dbf and it feels pretty awesome.
