Doubt about equipment and build

So I started as a Thief... I've managed 40 dex 37 end 2x vit 20 str... kind of... I'm at work right now so I don't have the exact info... but I'm lvl 85 if Im not mistaken...

I started with the idea of using light armors and being a fast killer... but then came this thing "poise" and people talked about elite knight set being a very good option...
So... I decided to try and I liked it... then I learned the benefits of poise but what else should I know?

I don't know exactly what are the benefits of shields... I've been using Grass Crest Shield por it's stamina recovery boost... but what could be a good shield to use? What about upgrading it? Is making a shield worth it?

Plus... I'm using my Bandit's Knife +15 and Queelags +5, I have my LifeHunter Scythe and well... so on... is this a good gear?

Im improving my str to 24 so I can wield properly my DragonSlayer Spear... And about bows... what is the best?

What about armors? Should I stay with the Elite Knight Set?

Any recomendations? What is the lvl cap? 120 or 125?

Should I put more stats on vit, o faith maybe? or str??

And above all... is this good for pvp?

If you're a dex build, the heavy armor kind of goes against your combat strengths. That being said, it's a fantastic set to upgrade for times during the game where you want to tank it a bit more (like ToG). If you do, make sure to get a good shield as well.

I would definitely keep putting points into a nice light set (Wanderer Coat, Shadow Gauntlets and/or Leggings, and Black Leather make good combos).

Iaito is a great sword for a dex build, and so is a +15 Balder Side Sword. Those two, with the Lifehunt, give dex builds a great arsenal.

For bows, go the Forest, and kill Pharis - she's back near the ents, kind of on the right (but be careful to lure her away from the ledge, or you can lose it when she dies). Best way is to kill the mage, then the thief, veer left to kill the cleric, then toward the door for the Bandit. Then go right until you find Pharis. Her bow scales with an S for dex. You'll hit for some huge damage. It's a viable weapon for taking on bosses.

After you get to 40 in vit, dex, and end, you might want to put a bit of points in Faith. Healing is very hand to have. If you want to use the DLC arena, level 100 is a decent target...otherwise, 120 ish for regular invasions.

But light armors have no poise isn't that bad??? what Shoul I consider for PVP?

Depends on your playstyle. A fast dex build shouldn't need poise, because your strategy should always be evasion. To get enough poise to with stand heavy attacks, you need to be in full armor and wolf's ring. There are also ways to still move fast and have poise. Try using a light set of armor, with Elite gauntlets, the hollow warrior waistcloth, and the wolf's ring. Should give you mid 50's poise, and still have the ability to move fast. Use the Grass shield for fast stamina regen.

Stability is the key. If you want to keep weight down, use the Balder. It only needs 12 strength. If you go with 16 strength, the Black Knight shield or the Eagle are good. The higher the stability, the less stamina it takes to block (meaning they won't break your guard).

Pharis bow is best for PvE and range. Composite for damage. Also, that's not Pharis, just a lady who's a fan
